Ive been on hormones for about a month and a half, and I guess I was kidding myself when I thought they wouldnt affect me much emotionally. I was watching Friday night's episode of Smallville this morning, which had a couple of storylines about healing in families. I was bawling my eyes out for 10 minutes after the episode was even over. I think that part of taking hormones have started to kick in...

I cry over tv shows and movies all the time and I'm not on hormones.
I'll be a total basket case when I start HRT.

First couple of months I was crying over TV commercials . . . !!

The emotional changes tend to come on first in many people, it keeps changing slowly for quite some time after wards too :D

Welcome to "hormones!" I have been on HRT for 9 months now and I have cried more over those months than I have my entire life. For me though, it is a very welcomed emotion and I do not try to stop the emotional out-pore. It is so healing!

I have my first visit the 30th of this month to the endo doctor. I cry so easy now, I can't imaging what I will be like after I see the Dr.

The crying gets easier to control the longer you are on hormones. Your mind adjusts and your emotions come more under control just as every womans does through time. You are developing just as any woman does. They just have a head start in it, and a lot more practice.

I can't wait it sounds exiting, I would love to cry over a sad movie or tv show, best I can do is get watery eyes, or cry a tear or 2, even though I feel I should cry more...

I forgot to mention that I had to go to a staff meeting at work on Veteran's Day- I have to work as a man for now until I can find something else in the homeless field (Ive got leads here in town, but if anyone knows a non-religious homeless place in your area, let me know). We sang "God Bless the USA" which has always made me misty eyed anyway, but I almost lost it. That would have been difficult at best...

Gee I started bawling my eyes out watching transformers may of 09. Wasnt any thing about that movie worth crying about.I started hormones 7 months later. As I later discovered it was the effects of an awakening which literally turned me into a female. Hormones are ok but its your brain that makes you female not pills. Enjoy your new discovers.
Love Breena.

Hormones? YOU BET BABY!!!!! I have the distinct ability to cry at the drop of the hat lately. But the thing is hormones coupled with the acceptance of being ourselves and being allowed to feel for the first time has to have something to do with it.

You'll also discover that for us women, everything ties in together. What I mean is that emotionally stressful times will cause emotional outbreaks even in areas that don't deal directly with the stress, such as a TV show for example. And since I imagine that changing a physical gender must bring with it an amount of stress, even if it is positive stress, it is not surprising that you will sob over something quite unrelated. Eventually, after your transition when your life is more on an even keel, you won't be so quick to cry over a TV show. :)

The same thing happens to guys, really. Stress in their lives will pop up in unrelated areas too, except for them it will be anger. A man who's just lost his job will likely experience road rage more readily than if his career is going well. But, some guys react with tears too, just as some women react with anger.

As they say..... you ain't seen nothin yet!!!!

After you have been on the hormones for a while you will find it easier to control your emotions. As Renie says emotional stress will cause emotional outbrakes. Enjoy the ride.

That's what I have seen and experienced--the sort of thing that ReineD described. For me, stress does not produce road rage but emotional outbursts of tears and grief-like feelings.
