View Full Version : Progress at last

I know I could have put this in my journal, but some of you know how frustrated I have felt at the lack of progress towards getting funding to treat my Gender Dysphoria.
Added to that was the worry that if I was back to square one, the Primary Care Trust might have been disbanded before I got any news. :Angry3:
Well, today I have received a letter from the Gender Identity Clinic at Charing Cross telling me that funding has finally been approved and asking me to confirm that I still want an appointment.
There will probably still be quite a wait before my first appointment and they say that I will probably only be assessed for hormones at the second visit but at least things are under way now! :cheer:
At least now I can face the end of the year knowing that I will finally get some help to become the real me!
I also want to say a big thank you to those of you who have been supportive (or even just put up with me) during the period where I had started to doubt it would ever happen. :bighug:

Congratulations Rianna!!!! Remember the old saying, baby steps. If your goverment run programs are like ours, it takes time for good things to happen.
That is good new, I had to wait about six month for my first appointment and on the second appointment I was assessed for hormones, then you have to wait about five weeks for the letter to your GP then you should be on the hormones

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. At least the time hasn't been entirely wasted as by the time I do get to see them I will be able to evidence several months of RLE - including feedback and citations from work.

WOW Rianna! I know you are bubbling inside. It is a shame that it is so hard to get started there.
But the good news is that you have progressed in your own right without the benefit of HRT so just imagine how wonderful your journey is now going to be.
You go girl!

On a bit of a downer at the moment, the first appointment isn't until June of next year  - I was already starting to get depressed and this definitely doesn't help
Incidentally not even a mini spot of retail therapy has helped today although I do now have the most gorgeous dangly gold earrings to go with my Salwar Kameez and matching deep yellow fingernails.

It'll be here before you know it - hang in there, when it finally happens you'll wonder where the time went.

Unfortunately, that is one of the pitfalls of going to a GIC that is quite popular. I certainly was glad that charing cross was not an option for me. The good side of this coin Rianna is that you will have all the time as Rianna under your belt as evidence of your RLE.
Having gone through what you have so far has shown your strength of character, this itself will help you in having that little patience. The time will soon go by. :)

Thank you, everybody for your support. I will have to show some of that strength of character that everyone apart from me sees in me. I'm at the "who do I think I'm kidding" stage right now so your good wishes mean a lot to me.
