After living in this house for over 2 months now I finally got to meet my neighbours
yesterday and I want to tell you what a great afternoon & evening I had with them.

After a nearly a week of very heavy rain from a tropical cyclone that cross the coast here on Christmas day the sun was shining and it's been the first chance we have had to mow our lawns. But the only problem here is that after a deluge like we have had the lawn ends up looking like a jungle in no time. My former house-mate who is also my landlord came around and insisted I mow the lawn yesterday, but the problem is she has only supplied me with a pathetic electric mower to do it with. I told her that I had already arranged to borrow another friend's more powerful petrol driven lawnmower to mow the law with the next day, however she still insisted on me doing the lawn yesterday afternoon with this stupid electric mower.

So here I was out in the front yard trying my best to cut the lawn but the mower just kept stalling in the tall grass. Anyway, my neighbour, a guy in his mid 30's spotted me struggling with this stupid mower so he came over. He asked me if I would like to borrow their petrol driven mower. I said 'Yes Please!'. It took me all of 10 mins to mow the front lawn, whereas it would have taken me 30-40 mins with the electric mower. So I was done with the mowing in no time at all thanks to my neighbour.

Anyway, after I was done mowing my lawns, I took the mower back and thanked the guy. He then turned around and asked me if I would like a nice cold cider.(Remember it's summer in Australia right now) I accepted his offer to have a drink, so we went out with him to his back patio to sit in the cool of the shade. A little while later his partner came outside to join us and he introduced me to his very lovely lady.

Shortly after that another female neighbour came over to see them and I was introduced to this lady who was also really nice as well. With some good music playing, a few cold alcoholic drinks it didn't take long and we had a really good atmosphere happening - the conversation & company was really great.

A bit later on I was invited to stay for dinner so I accepted their invitation but went back home for a bit to have a shower and get changed. After I returned we had a really great time for the next couple of hours because my neighbours are so warm & hospitable. It is really is good to finally get to know the people living right next door and that they are so hospitable & helpful in a time of need. They also know that I am living here on my own right now, so they also told that if ever I had any trouble from anyone at any time, just to call out and my neighbours would be over in an instant.

The main points I want to make here as well is that the whole time I was there I was accepted as a female & treated like a real lady with the utmost courtesy & respect the whole time. This also makes me feel much safer now living in my neighbourhood. So I just wanted to share this with the community here.

Congratulations Melody it's great when you can live in peace and harmony with your neighbors. It is also nice to know they are there just in case. My nearest neighbor is just about a mile away. They always stop by during bad weather to see if I need anything. Besides, I think he likes looking at my tush. :)

That's great! Why would they treat you like anything other than a lady?

I just wasn't sure how I would be received, because my former house-mate completely transitioning here but she kept
to herself apparently, but a few around the neighbourhood still remember her as a guy & one lot of neighbours across
the street has been saying some nasty stuff to my next door neighbours apparently trying to turn others against us.
But it's nice to know that I have people near to me who are now looking out for me & fully accept me for who I am. :)

That's cool, there are more good people in the world than bad.
