I wore some skinny girls' jeans yesterday when they wife and me went out to a local pub for some food, and I'm wearing the same pair today as we've been out to the local Co-Op for groceries. Damn, they are so comfortable, and they fit better than the male equivalents I own. The waistband sits where it's supposed to: just on my hips and not almost up to my belly button.
I think I see my style developing as sort of cool urban, vaguely grungy look. I think floppy hair, combats, Converse and maybe a "man" bag (well it would be a man bag if I wanted to project a metrosexual image, but I'm aiming for way past there, natch LOL) . Sort of skate-punk lesbian. I do wonder how appropriate this is for a 43 year old man. My guess is people who know me will just see it as a mid-life crisis to start, but I want to start blurring the edges over time and start throwing more femme cues into the mix like makeup and earrings.
Anyone else feel like this?

Yep I feel like this, I wear all androgynous outer clothes womens underwear including bra and forms , hosiery and carry a shoulder bag and I won't see 65 again, it's great LOL. They'll probably think I'm having a crisis of sorts, but this is really who I want to be and it is far too late to save me......................

Yep, female trousers or jeans all the time ( i haven`t the legs for skinny jeans or trousers so i like the wide legs ones),
and i wear a lot of these sort of smock top shirt type of things which usually have a tie at the back and carry a shoulder bag and it seams like i carry my wife's hand bag more than she does and i don`t like hand bags  just got to put up with these little burdens in life ,( i meant the hand bag not the wife ) or did i .:heehee: oh yes and the nail varnish and eye makeup , i bet i scare a few :D

In my 65 years I've seen many style changes for men, from ivy league to grunge and beyond. But now I'm seeing more guys (especially entertainers) wearing ruffled shirts, skin tight pants, and long dangly earrings. That, along with longer more feminine hair styles and we could start seeing skirts becoming fashionable as male attire.

I am old enough to be the father of most of the ladies on this forum! And probably have been a CD longer than most of you also, well over 60 years! Those who read my posts know that I go out dressed enfemme, but looking otherwise exactly like the man that I am. I do that because I no longer have my dear wife to do my makeup and wig. And I am real bad with both things!! I do wear jeans on occasion ( sorry Karren, but I like them!), but whenever possible I prefer to wear a skirt!! Jeans are O.K., but a skirt is really feminine which is why I wear them. In fact I am wearing a light tan skirt right now, which I just wore to a TGI Friday's for lunch! The people who work at that Friday's have seen me in everything feminine over the last few years, so they are not at all surprised. And the customers don't pay much attention!! I dress to please myself, not the rest of the world! Those who don't like the way I dress can tell me, and I will tell them to mind their own business!!

The first time I went to the mall with my ears pierced, nails done, eyebrows waxed, but otherwise drab clothing, I thought I would be chased back to the parking lot by the mob from 'Young Frankenstein'. However, much to my suprise (and a little disappointment) no one noticed. Now I'm only buting women's jeans and tops but I haven't had the guts to wear a skirt and heels out. I don't think my part of the midwest is ready for that.

Why in the hell would anybody wear jeans while being sort of en femme? I agree with Karren Hutton, if you are not going to be en homme wear something that is blatantly feminine and not stupid pants.
I hate how everybody and his/her dog wears pants! I really love to break out of that mold and wear dresses and skirts.
I go out in the neighborhood on a regular basis wearing a skirt or a dress, and sometimes, heels. I am one of the very few if any person who goes for a walk wearing a dress.

Great look :)
This is the sort of thing I'm working towards. I like the jacket.
I'm working on this look not for when I'm en femme, but in my usual day-today casual mode. Saying that, I will wear trousers en femme sometimes because I want to present as a woman, and women wear trousers. They can look great with some nice shoes

Tina has brought different perspectives to life, and one of them is thinking about how we look, regardless of the gender. I prefer to keep the gender "clues" separate for my two genders. However, wearing jeans that fit well, tight or not, is a part of looking good. After I lost a bunch of weight my wife complained that the new male jeans I purchased just didn't fit well. I bought a pair from VS and they fit terrifically! Tina gets the "girly" jeans, and my masculine self gets the more androgynous woman's jeans. Likewise, there were some terrific bargains in sweaters at VS a couple of years ago and my male self wears them with suits regularly. Good-looking clothes are just good looking clothes. It just means not showing too much "cleavage" in male mode.

Yep! You betcha ... I don't do "guy-guy" anymore. I do "girly-guy" :) I underdress with bra and panties (even at work) and I always wear girls jeans, either skinny fit or tight fit boot leg ones (even at work) and I also wear girls' tees and girls' hoodies (even at work). Ok at work, they are black, grey or light blue iso they are not too girly for work but outside of work I wear a peach and grey colored hoodie or a pale blue and white one, plus outside of work I wear eyeliner, mascara, perfume and gold stud earrings .. I also wear girls' tennis shoes (trainers) and a neutral colored baseball cap. I look pretty girly for a guy but of course, you can still tell I'm a dude. I like this look for myself ..... and I too am in my 40's :)

Girl jeans for me too. They are so comfy and fit very well. I also like the T's and turtleneck tops which can go either way. As far as footwear, my girl tennis shoes are a world better than even my expensive male counterparts, thus they are my preference.

I am inclined to agree with erickka on the turtleneck's. In my mind the right kind of turtleneck with the right kind of haircut/wig could be very androgynous.

This is the direction I've been moving with my style as well, I've started playing with wearing different women's things in my male wardrobe. Not really interested in earrings, but I do dabble in some makeup, and I did recently buy a couple of pairs of women's black dress pants and the most recent jeans I bought were women's bootcuts. I used to wear women's jeans a lot when I was heavier because they fit my curvier waist more, but after my weight loss I had switched back to men's, now I'm crossing the aisle again.
One big reason for me in doing this is to start to cultivate an overall "style" or "look" for myself, so that when I wear skirts in guy mode like I do, it just feels like a natural part of my wardrobe. I was noticing that on days I skirted, I was making an effort to really put together a full look, where as on days that I was wearing jeans I was just throwing stuff on.

I saw an TV ad for "pajama jeans" and, of course, the ad makes them look great. BUT has anyone tried them and know the reality? I am always very suspicious of and advertisement.

I'm right with ya sista. I love womens jeans. They are so much more comfy and they fit my frame and mindset much better. Most of my jeans in my closet are womens jeans.
I would define my favorite sytle as "euro preppy" which is very metro or androgynous. Most of my clothes are pastels or light fall colors. Pink is my absolute fave. I love turtle necks, ribbed sweaters and scarves. Like I said I am a fall... Throw in a pair of Chuck Taylor's and a messenger bag and you have the style I feel most comfortable in.
I have been known to wear this same style en femme when in a casual setting. Here is an example.

Through experience I have found that the following women’s clothes are suitable unisex items for men to wear in public.
!) Pants: Women’s pull on pants are much easier to put on than men’s belted pants. They do not need a fake fly, as the absence of it is usually not apparent, but I prefer non-figured and solid color, non-pastel pants so they are not readily identified as women’s clothing.
2) Panties: Underwear with a fly is unnecessary with pull on pants. Although there are no-fly briefs in the men’s department, women’s full-cut briefs work just as well, and are often cheaper.
3) Slips: Shirttails tend to readily pull out of pull on pants. This can expose panty and pantyhose tops and a bare back is usually uncomfortable when seated. A “solution” is to wear a full slip that is short enough to be worn with slacks. A slip with adjustable straps and a bodice is even OK as it covered and feminine features aren’t apparent. Also slips are usually made of material that makes it easier to pull on pants.
Another lingerie option is a slip with a crotch closure. I believe they were popular with “Rosie the Riviteer” in WWII but they seem to have disappeared.
Another oprion is an all-in-one shaper with a crotch closure. This also would preclude a pulled out shirttail. Since briefers usually include a bra, finding a large bandwidth with a small cup size would b a challenge so the bra isn't apparent under a shirt.
4) Bra: This is generally not considered an adrogynous item, but it can be useful in “boy mode” to keep non-adjustable straps on slip from falling off the shoulders
5) Pantyhose: An MD suggested that I wear support pantyhose to avoid the indentation in my lower legs that mid-calf or knee-high socks make. Pantyhose do not require anything that is not also needed with pull on pants. Opaque ones are best, as they aren't readily identified as women's hosiery, but that isn't necessary and non-opaque pantyhose are OK and are more available.
Another hosiery option is support thigh-highs, but they often need to be worn with an equally hard-to-find garter belt. Since a garter belt is an undergarment, feminine characteristics really don’t matter.
6) Purse: Keeping a wallet, comb, notepad, phone, and keys in pants pockets is awkward as it is hard to extract them when seated, and pockets in women’s pull on pants are often not very deep anyway. My “solution” is to use a small shoulder purse, which can either be worn or secured in a basket when that is available.
I think men should be as comfortable wearing women’s clothes as women are in wearing men’s clothing, but the overwhelming response when I posted these suggestions on a non-CD forum was that my motivation was an attempt to justify cross-dressing and that men should only wear menswear period and avoid "girl things" even when suitable apparel is available in the Women’s Department.

This is also the sort of look I'm thinking about, though maybe a bit more "studenty" (or sruffy if you prefer LOL). The Chucks are the ideal androgynous shoes. Heels are definitely femme, but these can leave that element of doubt there

My wife always gives me a mischeivious grin when im in her dresser or side of the closet and put things on like a pair of her bell bottomed, hip hugger, low rise, acid washed type jeans with a thong and belly shirt....mmmmmm..feels so girly and comfy.
