Had an opportunity to go out for a while last Thursday. Ended up at the Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette, Indiana. I was trying out my casual look for the first time. A pic from inside Macy's is attached.

I picked up the brown suede jacket at a consignment shop before going to the mall. It is in great condition, and was only $14! Score! Not sure if the jacket is OK with the black leather boots, but I went with it.

This was the most at-ease I've ever felt while out in public. I got hardly any odd looks. Most people who looked at me looked directly at my jacket, then at my boots, then moved on. I don't think I was being read, but it made me wonder if maybe the brown with black is not good, like wearing brown shoes with a tuxedo...

Regardless, as much as I like wearing a skirt while out, it's really nice to just feel comfortable and "under the radar". I went all through Macy's, Kohl's, Penny's, and Sears, plus a few other stores. On my way home and before changing to drab I stopped by Meijer's and had an equally good time.

So is the look OK, or should I get some brown boots?

Nothing wrong with black boots along with that jacket. Of course, you could also wear brown ones, but maybe there are other things you would like to spend your money on. BTW, you are a good looking girl!!

I think you look great. From your report, others seem to be fine with it too. The only person that may view things differently, is a store detective eyeing the position of your bag. If the strap was around your shoulder and the bag on your side, you would probably reduce any interest potential by security personnel. Just a tip...

you look great...

Please explain. Why does holding a bag like that attract attention from security?

I am not a big fan of brown personally but they do look pretty good on you =)

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I've gotten other feedback to that the jacket is OK with the boots. Makes me feel better :)

I'd still like to hear what it is about the purse position that would attract attention from security. Eluuzion?

I think black or chocolate brown would work with your jacket. Which one depends on the color of shirt you are wearing underneath. You looked great during your shopping spree Tricia.
