Hi everyone. First let me say how great it was to find this forum and feel like there is potentially a place for me.
I feel like this is something I would like to gravitate towards.
Please forgive me in advance if this is a completely ridiculous and/or stupid question. I have no idea what is proper or not.
My question is: Are there any women that can help a complete newbie to this with what to wear? What looks good? How to get started? Helping me get comfortable? And if so, are they just women who appreciate this in a man and want to help them get started? Or are they professionals?

Welcome. After being on forums like this and women's forums and seeing this asked often... I have never seen or rarely seen a woman out of the goodness of their heart agree to help do this... People just don't have the time to spare and most women things its weird. Yes there are transformation services that for a fee will help you and shopping services that will also help you shop for a fee.. If your so lucky to have them in your area... My advice is look around here, ask a lot of questions. Get a makeover locally if you can and maybe hook up with a local CD in your area. A lot of talented folks here and were more than happy to give you advice.
Karren is essentially correct. A few people get lucky with girlfriends, especially as teenagers when there is more free time available. You are far more likely to have success with other crossdressers. There are always some locals, but most are afraid to come out. If all else fails, you can always make friends here.

Karen pegged it. You will have a heck of a time finding a Gg that wants to spend her precious free time working on you look. You made a very comon mistake by thinking that only a real woman cane be of help. Take a good look on this site for instance.. there are some beautiful CD's on here that create thier own looks. There is a Tri Ess chapter ( Lambdanu Nu Tau) in Dallas/Fort Worth area that have some wonderful gals there as well that would be more than happy to offer thier support. As was said above.. don't overlook this site as a source of info.
The best to you.

In addition to what you'll read here, I might suggest going to a mall, the library, resturaunts, or where ever you may find women your age, and see what they are wearing.
A few years ago, while on a business trip, I went to a MAC cosmetics store and got a makeup lesson. This was a bit price, but priceless when it came to giving me confidence in my ability to do my own makeup.

Members like Karen Hutton have a great source of knowledge, we are all lucky to have access to their knowledge. I love this place so take care, there are some not very nice people too so be careful.

I was lucky? I guess. I dated a woman who bought women's clothing for me...panties, bras, hose. But not shoes. I even had my own purse and make up... and she encouraged me using all of it. Not one girlfriend or wife has done the same. My wife now is trying to come to grips with my fetish and is handling it well.

From your statements and question I assume you are fairly young.
When I was in my early 20s I went to women's clothing stores to shop. I started out telling them it was for my mother and she was about my size. I soon changed it to girlfriend as the clothes were too old for my age. Then it became sister because I wanted to date a couple of the girls that worked in them. Of course it didn't fool most of the women in the stores or even a couple of the girls I dated.
The SAs in stores are interested in helping you because they make money doing it. One of the nice things about buying clothes in most stores today is that you can buy them take them home and try them on and return them if you don't like the look. A lot of gg's do it too.
Don't be afraid to return things and be willing to build relationships with SA's. Once they learn where you are going with your purchases most will be helpful. Makeup may be your hardest bet to get it right, but there are women who can help you. Remember most women spend several years learning what works for them. Most women have a look that they feel comfortable with take your time and learn your look.

One good way to discover your clothing style is to visit a Goodwill store and pick out a few items that you like. The clothing is usually quite inexpensive ($5-$10) and it will allow you to test out sizes. What you don't like, just return as a donation. Also, the internet is a great resource. I started out just searching for various transgender sites and studying those styles, as well as womens fashions. You need to take a close look at your physical attributes and see what styles best compliment them. Makeup is more of challenge and that comes with practice!!!!!! Have fun. :)

Yeah. Make up is a pain. Mascara and liner don't go away easily. I have to be MU free for work. It sucks!

Trial and error was the way I went, then after 18 years of marriage I told my wife about Sandra and she now keeps me looking as good as can be expected. If you are young and can go all the way without any problems then you can go to any store for make up advice and clothing advice. Have fun and welcome.

I put and add in the personal section of Craigslist and a young college girl agreed to help me. She only agreed to go with me to buy things and have makeup done. It never hurts to ask, but I never went with her.

One of the ways I cheated until I had a little more style (more than none that is) is that I watched the ads in the paper and when I saw an outfit I liked, I bought it. Exactly what was in the advertisement. Bonus that being in the ad meant it was on sale.

On another note
There are NO stupid questions....ONLY stupid answers....
Always ask ... that's how we learn.

best way is to read fashion or woman's magazines,go past shops and look at the way the fashions are displayed, watch the way the general public are dressed. eventually you will pick up the mix and match thing.
