As many know I'm scheduled for GRS this May and with that there is a number of things one needs to do before surgery. The doctors here in the states ask that the hair be cleared in advance of surgery so this morning was my first session and I was surprised in my level of tollerance of the discomfort. We talk about a lot of things we do and experience but I do not recall this subject being broached. I think we all have asked the questions and for me I asked a friend about her experience.

So ladies, there it is and if you have a low tollerance to pain talk to your doctor for something that will reduce the sensation. Other than that I wish you all the best.

Did you enjoy the peri-anal area as much as I did? Some place electrologist needles should not go...

I had the laser treatment and hopefully I will not need the electrolysis as that really s**ks. LOL

I never had any hair removed. Some doctors do the hair scraping thing and to tell you the truth I cannot possibly imagine why ANYONE would go to a doctor that still requires one to get hair removal down there. Add to that the fact that your talking a LOT more money to the cost of surgery and a waste of time and hey lots of pain.

They all do the follicle scrape...but most can't spend the time in OR to get them all...I'm sorry but I can live without a hairy interior to my vagina...

How deep into it would hair possibly grow? Like just a bit or are we talking "Merry Mary quite contrary..."

Assuming that we are talking about a penile inversion technique, the question is: "How far up your penis do you have hair?"

Ummmm yeah  the scrotum skin is formed into a tube and sew in as well, so the areas to remove hair include the entire shaft up to the base, and the central 2/3 of the scrotum tapering down to the peri-anal area...needles in your *ahem* were "interesting" too...

In my case, unfortunately, the something to lessen the pain has been lidocaine injections which are (for me) excruciating. But after that the electrologist can go on about her merry way and I don't feel a thing.

You can add Dr. Kamol in Thailand to the list of surgeons requesting electrolysis prior to surgery.

I have never yet met a woman who regretted having too much hair removal done. I know many who wish they had done more. Too often it seems to be a last minute thing. It does add to the total cost of transition. It hurts. It adds nothing at all to your day-to-day presentation before SRS. Not all electrologists will remove genital hair and if you have a very low pain threshold (like me) and you want it done under local anesthesia your options get even smaller (McGinn and E3000 are the only two I know of). In reality it would be best to start a year prior to your surgery date, it may take much less time but at least it would be finished. It may take close to the entire year depending on how much hair you have, how many hours you have done at a time and how frequently you go.

I don't deal well with pain. For the hair removal, I think I would need general anesthesia. :)

Back in the day, laser had not been invented yet. Electrolysis was all there was and it was not what it is today. 220v to the area in question was about the same :( . All that was done then was the follicle scrape and I have not had any problems yet.

this talk about follicle scraping and needles/probes in sensitive areas sure does sound comfy.

Oh, the follicle scraping and possibly cautery are a piece of cake, they are done while under general anesthesia or an epidural. Now, as for all of the rest of it...

Just give me a hairy vagina ... but wait, I have almost no hair anyway down there. Whew! Another benefit of looking fem all my life and being made fun of by the other (yuck) boys for my feminine/non-masculine body!

Your so lucky! I was like an ape. Thick hair everywhere! People used to tell me I could take off my winter coat when we were at the beach.
