Well, its for real! I am now on day 2 of HRT! my head is just spinning, and its not from the drugs! I can't believe i have finally made it to this point.
I do find it interesting, though, tht there re so many different drug regimens. In contrast to Sandra, my endo did not prescribe an anti-androgen. My bp tends to the low side, and my T level is already low at 282. As i am 46, she initially prescribed E patches, but, being genetically male, they were not approved. Therefore, i am on oral Estrdiol. I did ask herabout Proscar, but she said sh would like to old off andseehow theEalonedoes.
I am really happy about this. If only my family was happy for me.........

Although your family may not be happy, your happiness is paramount. I am happy for you!

E patches not approved -- do you mean by your medical coverage?
A couple of weeks ago I read how to convert that 282 figure into the nmol/L used in Canada, but now I've forgotten if it is divide by 19 or by 29. Either way would place your starting T much lower than mine.
We're off to see the Wizard...
By the way, notice any changes yet? :tongueout:

Sandra- yes, the patches were denied by my insurance company. Coincidentally, i happen to work for that company, and we are very T friendly. In fact, the current president of the GLMA, a post op ts, also works for us.
I AM seeing changes! I SWEAR my boobs are bigger!

I'm not sure, but I figure that this has a lot to do with lack of clinical trials. these drugs are being used outside their intended use and thus have not gone through the clinical trials. So... each doctor has a starting point but adjusts based on what his/her experiance tells them what works. Not to mention everyone is different. What works for you may or may nor work for me. just my thoughts on the subject anyway.

And only just after just 2 days?
Wow hun, those drugs must be good, so be careful with drugs like that, lots of
other people who are not necessarily trans-females might want them too.
Anyway, welcome to the world of womanhood. So let the real fun & games begin :heehee:

I AM seeing changes! I SWEAR my boobs are bigger!
Yesterday evening, it seemed to me that my boobs were now bigger, but this morning they didn't seem any larger than before (darn!). A couple of people have indicated that it is the morning when they feel that their boobs are the largest and heaviest; not for me. Of course that could be that in the evening my eyes are the most tired and so I might not be seeing straight :)
ps: just checked, just before bed, and they do seem larger again. Now if we suppose that the skin stretches during the day due to carrying the weight against gravity, but tightens again at night when the weight is off...

Update: i have finnished my first whole week of hrt!!! No, my boobs havent changed yet! However, although it may simply be a self-fulfilling prophecy, i really do feel more at ease and less stressed. I dont know whether this is a hormonal effect or not, but i like the feeling!

This is usually what a transsexual female will notice at first when they start hormone therapy. I think this could be related to the lowering of your testosterone levels which I understand can be the source of agitation in transsexuals like us & makes sense if you have a 'female brain'. Because natal females also get agitated & moody when their hormones get out of balance & their testosterone levels go up as well.
A FtM transsexual I know told me a couple of months ago the first thing he noticed when he started using testosterone was that he got irritable & wanted to fight everyone until his dosage was readjusted. So with FtM Transsexuals it seems that male hormones can have a more unsettling type effect. Anyway I am glad to hear that hormones seem to be doing their job in settling your gender dysphoria Renee.

If I feel more at ease and less stressed, then it is relatively subtle. I'm still not taking estrogen, but this makes 2 weeks on spiro.
I have noticed that I am perhaps a bit more manic (in the sense of working long hours to silly times of day, and being completist.) I also started yesterday on re-organizing the basement which has needed it for 7 years. So possibly a bit more initiative. On the other hand, the basement was also me being less willing to put up with some aspects of my home relationship.

I know the feeling of family not being as supportive as one would like but they are transitioning also. It is just you have a head start and they will have to catch up later. I'm happy for you and stay focused on you for now.
