That's just a bit over 3 months to go Teri, if you don't think about it, then it will be here before
you know it, but if you are now counting down the days, then it will surely go very slow.

Good luck & I hope it all goes well for you.

So Marci Bowers is all setup now there? Has her prices increased, decreased, or stayed the same? Did she setup a place for recovery yet? How long does she give in the new hospital for recovery? What is her new established waiting list period now that she is in the new hospital? Has her support staff grown or is she still using Trinidad as a contact location?

I'm debating consulting with her on and off because of her location to me and my familiarity with the south bay. IF she is full established and she has not raised her costs astronomically, I may rethink consulting with her instead of McGinn or Meltzer.

Use these next 3 months to relax and get your body and mind in great condition so that your recovery will be gentle and quick.

I am really happy for you. Just in the year I have been on here, a lot of gals/guys have gone through surgery and it is always amazing with each and every one.

Everyone, it has been an experience that has opened my eyes and heart to who I am and where I'm heading. The countdown is much like the short timers in the service. It will go fast and if my family and friends (you included) keep me as busy as of late I will have to set the alarm so I don't miss it.

Steph, you may want to go to her website and contact her office in Trinidad to get all the information but from what I have found the contact point is still in Trinidad and the surgery site is in San Mateo CA. There has been great results and experiences in the new location since the move last fall to which Marci has done her preparation for the move very well. The only change in my date is it will be a day earlier on the fourth of May. One more day to recover before heading home.
If you contact them you will probably talk with Robin and although I have not met her personally she is a very warm and friendly lady. Just say Teri mentioned her. No kick backs, LOL, just an observation.

Grats Teri... :hugs:

I have heard from a friend that had hers in CA that the new location and recovery house are both running very well. In fact the house has been used for Dr. Beck's FFS patients for some time and those running it (Gwen I think) are doing so very professionally...which is a far cry from Trinidad's recovery house.

Janet and Robin are great...I did speak with Janet recently to inquire about Marci doing my BA, but from what I understand, Beck has taken over those for the time being. I did hear that Marci has been doing A LOT of GRS surgeries every week since the move so I guess that makes sense...

Thats a long wait but when it is over you will have accomplished something very few have had. Your transition will start all over and this time is is VERY serious and no more training wheels so to say. A final word. I would suggest you work on some big post surgery goals to replace the SRS goal. It is not uncommon for girls to fall into depression after SRS because that huge focal point is all of a sudden gone.

Kate you are so right and thank you for the heads up. The thing I was looking forward to besides the GRS was retirement. I have changed that for now so I can accomplish a few other things here at home. One is a look at starting a new business of wood sculpting. I have done well and a many have said I should go full time.
So without going into details I have a goal to work on as we speak.

Great that you thought about the goals. As I said you are about to REALLY start transiton. I once had a wise post-op girl tell me a month before surgery that "everything before SRS was preschool and you are about to start high school."

Of course like most pre-op girls I did not really understand what she was telling me and a part of me felt like saying "I have done a lot as a pre gal" but I kept my mouth shut. Well It turns out she was so right.

Transition begins after SRS.

Good luck Teri, you are in very good hands. I was actually the first patient of Dr. Bowers & Dr. Beck when they joined in San Mateo on 11/07/2010 and I am very happy with my visit there. If you get offered the choice of the private nurse or staying on Gwen's house try Gwen, she was very wonderful and a caring person. Email me if you have any questions, you can read a little bit about my journey here............. http://www.transgenderednorthwest.com/Surgery/KeriJourney.htm

To your future girl!

You'll be in very good hands. I'm looking forward to returning and getting the rest done.
Good Luck, Cara

What's this days stuff... You mean you don't have it down to hours:minutes:seconds yet?

May will be here soon and you better make it hurry.. especially since I leave only a couple of months after you for Dr. Saran you better not put a bottle neck into the calender.

Hi everybody,
Well a lot of stuff has happened since day 100 and now the time is less than half. With letters submitted and the insurance company has given the approval for the surgery they then say only if it is done in Minnesota. WTH!!!!!!! So then I find all they need is a referal from my primary caregiver. Okay that is done and yesterday I recieved a letter saying it isn't covered. Okay now you have really PI**ED this girl off. Back on the phone this morning chasing from Minnesota to Colorado and back to Minnesota (insurance company) and then back and forth here at home. Fully stressed out I took the afternoon off to get the BP under control and relax while waiting for the latest.
So what is a girl to do but turn on the food network and get some recipes and ideas for later plus pull up the girlfriends and see what is happening here. I find it relaxing to sit, read and converse with others like me in this forum. Of course we support each other and Kim posted her story of her GRS in San Mateo, this is where I am heading so yes I am interested. Thank you Kim, I appreciate the information and pictures. BTW I am also staying with Gwen and it is good to know she is such a great lady. I will try to say hi for you while I am there.
Of course I cannot close this without saying to my sister, Pam, the days are down to 45 days before I fly out and then 2 days before my surgery day. Hours and minutes are to be announced. :P Love you dear. I want to say I was just off the phone a couple minutes ago and the last hurdle looks like it has been cleared and everything is in place.
I will keep you all posted as this unfolds and will be bringing the laptop with and post from California. Hugs Teri

Breath Deep! Slowly exhale and Relax.

And to think I missed all the fun of playing Insurance Co. tag. At least insurance covers the surgery now days.

Hi again Teri Jean,

Heh, don't sweat it as it will drive you bonkers. I did the same, I was running around 3 weeks prior getting bloodwork, xrays, filling prescriptions, and various other things. I went to get to get my letter from my second doctor and wrecked my car. I quit smoking, quit hormones, aspirin, and all alcohol. It was a stressful time, in fact I sat one night and cried as I figured it was too much to make happen. I also realized if it did happen it was meant to be and if it did not it was not in the card deck to be dealt to me. I thought it was all set to go, I was actually driving to California after much planning and Robin called me from Marci's office and said there was an issue with the second letter; I just about wrecked my beamer again driving down I-5 with that depressing news. She then told me she would handle it and have the doctor re-fax everything and work it out with Jasmine in San Mateo. It was a perfect storm window that I had to make work, Dr. Bowers was just moving in, she had never done a surgery there, she actually went home the night she worked on me and unpacked her U-haul from Colorado, true story. Dr. Beck did my consultation on Friday and also was out of town that weekend, everyone showed up Monday and it all happened. In the end it all worked, it was meant to be; keep that faith.

Yes, please say hello to Gwen, she has called me since I was home; she is so nice. Also tell Jasmine hello for me at the surgery center, just tell her Keri said hello. You are in great hands, it was a wonderful experience in my life.

Well today when I checked my mail, I forgot to check last night when I got home from our book club, there was a envelope from BC/BS. The last hurtle has been cleared for surgery and the rest of the path seems to be clear. So wouldn't it be fitting as I just put on my face for work and the tears are threatning to make that a moot point. Oh well, :D . I am going to call Colorado to be sure I am correct this morning but right now work is second in my mind. So here is the official countdown clock is 38 days and a wake up. I cannot say how much you all have been part of this journey and discovery. Thanks and hugs. Teri
