My question is about the brain. Has anyone heard of any studies that test the brain activity or chemistry of CDs versus ubermales? How is brain stimulation different when in a pink fog? Is there any unique pathology that comes with trying to deal with the stresses of CDing?
I’m now in my early 50’s and I find myself occasionally being introduced to those notorious “senior moments.” Along with them come those times, frequently in the middle of the night, when my brain goes manic and I try to shut it down. Sometimes thinking calming thoughts like wearing different outfits works. Sometimes it has the opposite affect and CD fantasy keeps me worked up.
My mom had some memory issues when she died in her early 80’s. I’d self diagnose my symptoms are fairly common for someone with light manic-depression and potential longer term memory issues.
Thoughts?

Well. Let me tell you about my brain chemistry... 6 years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumor.... A pitutary adenoma... Proactinoma... And up till them, my crossdressing had almost totally vanished. For 10 years. As soon as I started treatment... Booommm .. My crossdressing came back. With a vengeance!!! All chemistry!!! I don't know about the chemistry of an ubermale. But brain chemistry has to be a big factor, imho.

My desires for crossdressing had been quiet for a long time until I started anti-depressants. Then it turned up to 11. But I don't think that the drugs directly affected my desire to dress. I think instead that as they pulled me out of my depression, it woke up parts of my mind that had not been running right for a long time. Because of this I have come to accept that when I am healthy and sane, that I'm _supposed_ to be a crossdresser. I am on my way to being (at least some of the time) a happy girl.

Kathleen, if you are having "Senior Moments" and you are in your eary 50's you should see a doctor. That is way too young to have Senior Moments!
To answer your question, since I am not a Psychologist or any kind of doctor I really can't!! I do think what Karren about herself is what can happen when chemicals are introduced into your body. Strange things can happen, and no one will ever know why. But I also think that a CD may have a somewhat different chemical makeup than an ubermale!! Just my opinion, of course!! Based on a long, long, long time as a CD!!!

There usually has to be some kind of goal or objective behind such studies in order to get funding. Other than being a "nice to have", I fail to see what such a study would accomplish and so would sponsers.:)

I thought that is what they were testing when they tell you to "turn your head and cough". :heehee:
Here are a couple links to some studies. One is more geared toward TS than CD, but it is still in the same ballpark with the topic.

Here is a link to a research project if you want to be a guinea pig...I did not see any starting dates, etc. so not sure of the status. They seem to have received some funding grants...
