Well I have not posted in a wile. Sorry
My wife and I talked and she is OK with me starting hormones. She has seen some of my girlfriends and how after a year or so they looked. We have discussed the issue of coming out and explaining the transition.
Most of my friends know and I am out pretty much everywhere except work.
So finding a therapist and doctor will be challenging. In the Hunstville, Alabama area the offerings are extremely limited and I have been unsuccessful so far. I can find a few in Birmingham (hour plus drive).
I cant wait to finally become the person I know I was always supposed to be.
Cheers. :daydreaming:

Thanks,
I think I found a local therapist. Tamara Pellant.
I have been warned twice to watch for "Gate Keeper" can someone explain this as it relates to this situation?

Christine, that is awesome! You are so fortunate to have a supporting SO. Enjoy your therspy sessions - i get sooooo much out of mine. If your local therapist doesnt work out, mine in Chattanooga is wonderful. Thats about 70 min from you
Best of luck
Hugs,
Renee
PS. Suzanne had better get her a$@ in gear! You and i will be comparing chst size at this yrs SCC!

I know right, things back at the Bender home are not as accepting though. I just don't see Suzanne going for it. I could be wrong.

A gate keeper is someone who guards the gate of womanhood and does not ever approve of you transitioning.
One piece of advice.
When you look for a doctor remember is does not have to be a endocrinologist. You can find OB/GYN doctors and regular family doctors that are very capable of monitoring HRT.
My Doctor is a family medicine doctor who is very highly regarded in the Austin, TX area. She also has helped many transgendered patients with HRT.

Good Info thanks. I was thinking in that direction.
I will be looking for a therapist that is accustomed to dealing with this community.

I know the feeling about haveing a hard time finding professional help. I have to drive to Dallas for the doctor 3 hours away. An hour is not that far. I promise it's worth the 3 hour drive.

Wow and Texas has a huge TG population, one of the largest in the union. Sorry to hear this. The therapist I found is on my way home.

Girl I wondered where you have been, good to see that you are back. Best of luck going forward. When I came back from SCC, I found my therapist, who in turn recommended my Endo Doctor, who in turn started this adventure.

Christine, I'm happy for you as I know a couple who have made the same decision and are happy. I wish you the best. BTW I drive 2 hrs each way for my therapist.

Hi Christine, it's such good news that your wife is OK with you going for hormones. :cheer:
Hope you find the right therapist soon. :hugs:
Do you have a plan for letting work know, or will you leave that until you have seen the therapist a couple of times?
