I did a couple of new things today. I guess actually it was one new thing, that combined a couple of things that I had done before. I dont have a car, so usually if I have to go shopping for any real amount of stuff, I need a ride, usually from my best friend, a gg named Chris. She and her girlfriend were the first two people outside of doctors and my therapist that I told about me. She could tell I was nervous about something, and finally asked why. When we were in Wal-Mart, after I finished grocery shopping, I told her that I needed something else, from the women's section. It had been extremely cold for the last two nights, and I dont have a long nightgown. I asked her to help me find one, and for the first time, except for the middle of the night, I really went shopping in the women's section (for anyone not familiar with Wal- Mart, a lot of them are open 24 hours). At first, I was looking around a lot, but her being around calmed me down, and I spent a fair amount of time there. It may not seem like much, but it's more learning experiences, things that are giving me more confidence. And having a friend like Chris- that's priceless.

You're absolutely right, all these small steps will boost your selfconfidence that allow you to make the big ones. Good luck!

I call that effect "Wife Armor." Having a GG participating in the shopping somehow legitimizes the presence of a male in the women's department. Silly, but that's the way it feels to me.
