Yesterday was Valentine's day. Being widowed for almost 18 months and not having anyone special in my life it was just another Monday. 2 hours of electrolysis in the morning then off to spend the rest of the day at the office.
When I got home the usual group was there. My son Robby, Ben (he's staying with me to finish high school here as his parents moved to another state last fall), and 2 of their friends; one of whom is staying with me since he doesn't have anywhere else to go. All 4 of these boys, well young men really since they're all 18-21, have been at or around my house regularly for years so, in addition to my own son, I feel I have 3 "extra" sons.
I went to my room to put my laptop there and sitting on my desk was the most beautiful arrangement of roses I'd ever seen. As I stood there staring the guys came up behind me, wished me a happy valentine's day, and gave me big hugs (well, I got hugs from everyone but my son of course :) ). All I could do was just stand there and cry. I know they're great guys but I never expected anything like that.
I guess it turned out to be not such a bad Valentine's day after all.
