I am in my late 70's, and except for a 5 year period have been crossdressing since I was 6 years old. The 5 year period was in my early married life when I totally stopeed because I thought it would be better for my family. After 5 years my dear late wife begged me to start dressing again as Stephanie, She said she missed Stephanie in her life!! So I started dressing again, and have continued ever since!

That means that I have been crossdressing for a little over 65 years. I would like to know if other CD's on this forum either beat me, or come close!!

I've been crossdressing for close to 20 years, but I'm eventually going to transition to female, so in a couple years, it will no longer be considered crossdressing, unless I decide to go butch post-op, which I find highly unlikely.

I think your record is safe, at least from me.

Nice to see another Georgia Girl, too.

I'm 54.

I would say I've been a crossdresser my entire life, but there have been different stages in my expression of it, based on the opportunities I had at the time. This is an approximate and highly simplified account:

Before age 5 it was mainly my mom experimenting with makeup and nail polish on me, but nothing I initiated myself.

Ages 5 - 20 or so, raiding mom's and other's closets for very short experiences wearing their clothes. Mom supportive up to age 13 or so -- wore heels, nail polish, makeup, pierced ears openly at home and among mom's friends.

Ages 20 - 40, acquired some of my own stuff, wore it for more extended periods at home, and would occasionally step out for a walk around the neighborhood or a short drive.

Age 40, started getting out and about in a big way. Fully dressed outings. Grew out my nails, got tattoos, piercings and permanent makeup, started wearing heels full time, grew out hair, started shaving all over, etc.

Now, probably more girl than boy in my daily appearance, and all girl when I'm not at work. Get out whenever I can.

- Diane

First time dressed was by my sisters when I was five. It was off and on for about 45 years with one intense period of a year when I was 32.
For the last five years it has been whenever I can be home alone (which can be waiting to dress for several months).

So.... 49 years.

I'm 54.

I've liked women's shoes for as long as I can remember.

At 8 or 9 (I want to say 8 but am no longer sure) I wore a pair of heels that belonged to my aunt; this was the first time I'd worn women's shoes that properly fit me.

At 19, I bought the first pair of heels that would properly fit me as an adult.

In 2006, I bought my first skirt. In 2008, I began to accept that I should look for other women's clothing to go with the shoes I was buying.

In early 2009, I "came out" to my first few friends. I guess you could then say that I've been an actual crossdresser for two years now.

I'm 26, I'll be 27 in June

I put on my first piece of clothing when I was 10 or 11. With the exception of military time, sea duty assignments, this make for a rreally long time. I'll be 68 in 10 days, so if my math is correct that will mean 54 years, give or take.

Well it is more like, how long have I been crossdressing? As silly as this may sound, I cannot remember a time when I wasn't aware of my need to be a girl at least part of the time. I know that I was dressing as early as about five. This year I'll be 64.

I first remember wearing a red dress with red ruffly panties for Halloween when I was 1 1/2 years old. Some one made a comment that I looked cute and that sort of stuck in my mind. With a sister 2 years older, there was always clothes around, but as I got older, it was no longer acceptable and I had to sneak around. I've had the need to dress forever, which has caused some problems now and then. I'll be 64 this year and still love to dress whenever I can, being married makes it less than I would like, wife doesn't understand.

I've been really loving it for about 45 years, really starting to do it in-house when I was about 9. At about age 14, the GG's in school were just starting to wear girdles, garter belts, and stockings. Skirts were short, and many would sit with their stockings and garters showing. I was hot for them and also loved wearing stockings like theirs. Pantyhose used to be a turn-off for me, but seeing pretty GG's in them changed my viewpoint. Then it was makeup, pretty shoes, especially heels, skirts, slips, and finally entire outfits in my 20's. I wish I had been brave enough to learn more about how to apply makeup then. I might have really been able to pass. I was in my teens during the longhair days of the 70's, and I would often get mistaken for a GG without ever trying. Long wavy hair, a small stature, and no facial hair made me look naturally feminine - to a point. I wish I had taken advantage of those days and opportunities. I doubt I could ever pass now and mostly just dress in the house, or only go out at night. But I still love it. I love that we can buy sexy shoes again, nice skirts, and I really hope hosiery continues to make a comeback. And I love this forum! Be safe, Linda

I believe I started my fascination with womens clothing at age 8 or 9. Started with wearing moms things. The desire stayed with me wearing articles of womens attire all my life. At age 45 I retired from the Navy and began to have more time to dress, this is when I began to dress fully. I am 56 now so I have been dressing for 47 years.

It's been 35 years now. One day I found myself home alone when I was about 10 and tried on a pair of "hot pants" and a sexy top my mom had. She also had a blond wig. I can't describe the feeling that went through me. Over time, I got more and more into it. Except for brief breaks, I've been doing it ever since.

Well, as I have mentioned numerous times before, my dressing began at age 7 when I was dared to wear panties and a dress. Having three older sisters I had plenty of clothes to experiment with and at 15 dressed completely (sans wig). There were numerous purges but I never really stopped. Even during my navy hitch I kept panties in my locker (under the guise of conquest), and would wear them under my uniform whenever the opportunity arose. During my two marriages I kept clothes hidden (between purges), and continued to dress in private.

I'll be 66 on March tenth and consider myself a lifelong crossdresser (starting at age 7) because there was never a substantial gap between my purging and re-dressing.

I was 13. It was a confusing time for me. I didn’t understand why I wanted to wear girls’ clothes. I just knew that I did. What started with a single article of clothing soon blossomed to full dressing at home whenever I had a chance. And while there have been periods in my life when I haven’t dressed, my preference has never changed. This summer will be the 50th anniversary of the day I first slipped on that one-piece bathing suit.

Off and on since I was 12. That makes it 44 years total. Sometimes it was often, other times it would be several years between putting something on. Didn't really try makeup and a wig until I was 40. No success until I tried it again at 50!

I do not consider any childhood (under ten) trying on any of my mother's clothing to be cross-dressing. That would be somewhat akin to playing dress up. I first dressed as a woman in my early teens. That's fifty years. As to really getting into being en femme, that's the last decade.

I'm 52, with all the positive feedback I've received on my looks this will probably surprise a few but I've been dressing for (2) two weeks.

Talk about a natural!

I first dressed in my sisters clothes when I was ..9? Her idea to swap, I think. I then snuck around trying on her gym and school stuff for a couple of years, tried on some of my mums stuff, but that didn't fit so well, when I reached my late teens, bought some pantyhose, ( i just wear them as a thermal layer, honest! ) Bought some dancewear, anything I could claim to be buying "for a costume" or like that. Developed a serious fetish for stretchy fit stuff in my twenties, had a small stash, went out one foggy morning in a long sleeved unitard underneath, slipped out of top layer in the woods, then went jogging in the unitard. Not anywhere I was likely to be seen. When i got into cycling, It sort of went away, ( interesting side note, my first pair of cycling shorts was given to me by a girl, had to bite my tongue and not say "I thought it would be harder to get into your shorts" :D ) then, when decent mens underwear were hard to find when I moved to N.A. tried panties again, eventually found the styles and sizes that fit, now underdress exclusively, unless expecting to strip somewhere, ( Doctors etc ) 55 now, so.. call it 46 years, but not continuously. I've never dressed fully, unless you count that jogging session, not had much of an urge to do so. I do have a feminine side, but I don't think there's a girl inside. I do want to be considered sexy, beautiful even, but as a man. I would like to go out in something that completely flaunts my body, but such is not acceptable in most of the world, for men at least.

I started crossdressing last summer starting with denim skirts. I purchased sandals and a dress, and then found some clothes that my ex-wife left in the house when she left me that fit me. So I am just a newbe, but I am brave enough to wear dresses for walks in the neighborhood. I do remember when I was a boy I would clomp around with my mother's heels and wear her dresses, as also did my brothers. I do remember a feeble attempt to convert a pair of shorts into a skirt by cutting the material between the legs when I was 5 years old. I had no sisters.

First time at the age of 4. Regularly after 13, how old am I now? As old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth. I don't kiss and tell. I remember when nylons had a seam that had to run straight down the back of your leg, and girdles were the norm.

I was born a crossdresser, so I have been transgender or a crossdresser my whole life. I was aware of it around age 6 although didn't understand it. I was in a state of confusion until a few years ago when I found this site. That is when I realized that I was not the only one on the planet. I learned I was born this way and will die this way weather I participate, admit it to myself, get the worlds blessing to be myself, or come to terms with this is who I am and enjoy the ride. Thank you to all the ones who have come before me and helped me to understand myself. I no longer feel guilty for being born. I wish I had understood this 30 years ago, my life would have been much different.

I've had feelings of crossdressing ever since I can remember. I can remember being so envious of my sisters' Easter dresses when all I got a stupid coat and tie. Started a little around the 14 mark and than after coming out of the military at age 24, did it maybe a couple of times a month. only in the last 20 or so years have I gotten to dress more than once a week. Went out in Vegas about 10 years ago and loved it. Don't go out in public around where I live, I know to many people. I do have a makeover when I go to Vegas and do go out when out there. Only wish I would have started going out in public at an earlier age. You do get more comfortable each time. Only 3 people know that I dress, and it will stay that way. Now over 65.

I'm 52, with all the positive feedback I've received on my looks this will probably surprise a few but I've been dressing for (2) two weeks.

Please don't take this personally, but I hate you.

There were incidents and indications earlier in life, but I didn't really start until I was about 13, so it will be 35 years this year.

I started in my teens, didn't do much after high school, a little in mid 40's, and now for the past 6 years, pretty much every day. I'm near on to 68.
There are so many here who are born between 1939 and and 1961 and I wonder about something I read a while back, which was that pregnant mothers were given DES routinely during those years to prevent miscarriage. THere was some indication that the women who did get DES and had female babies, some of those girls were likely to be lesbians. So while we are all males, I wonder whether we became interested in being Cders for the same chemical reasons? I am not interested in men, and so as a crossdresser I'm still interested in women ( does that equal lesbian interests?)

I am 44 years old and have been crossdressing since age 11 or 12, only the clothing, no make up or wig.

Upon discovering and joining this forum in late 2008 I had my first attempt at using make up and wearing a wig......wow what a thrill.

Progressed a few months later to getting out and about in public, wow what a double thrill. Life has been wonderful ever since. :daydreaming:

I can remember being so envious of my sisters' Easter dresses when all I got a stupid coat and tie.

Yes, I really hate the manditory coat and tie look imposed upon men for formal wear. That alone would be a very powerful incentive for me to take hormones and transition to being a woman if I had to wear formal clothes.

I notice at church there are very few men that still wear ties. Our pastors [at a Lutheran church] do not have clerical collars and even they don't wear ties.

I am 70 and will soon be 71. I have been dressing since early teens. I dressed almost every day. I retired in 98 and do dress every day and enjoy it. I do all my shopping food, woodworking material, go to church, ect. I wear nice clothing that would fit my age. I know from time to time that I am read, but I do not let it bother me. I am living my life from day to day knowing that today may be my last. All I can say is that I have a very good time every day and hope and pray there will be many more.

The first time I tried on my Mom's pantyhose, I was about 10. I've dabbled over the years, panties here a bra there a cami here, but have only been en femme at night for about 2 months now. My boxers are now gathering dust and I wear my panties every day. My pink panties are my favorite with lavender a close second! I need to go shopping! I'm 41.

I do not consider any childhood (under ten) trying on any of my mother's clothing to be cross-dressing. That would be somewhat akin to playing dress up. I first dressed as a woman in my early teens. That's fifty years. As to really getting into being en femme, that's the last decade.

I started dressing at age 6, hiding in the bathroom so as not to get caught, it wa the only room I could lock myself into. I was not playing dress up in the way you mean it, I was cross dressing, and I knew what I was doing, and how my father would react if I got caught, and back then fathers wore big belts and knew how to use them. and as to the point of this thread, I'm 67 and have been doing it for 61 years off and on (more on than off)

The wishing I was a girl started young, 5-ish. I remember the night I got up and put mom's lipstick on and then went back to bed...why was I surprised I still had red lips in the morning when I woke up??? Now at 54 I underdress daily and over dress when ever the opportunity exists.

I also wonder about that as I remember reading something along those lines about 30 years ago. I am 51 tomorrow and would also be a lesbian:) I started with panties and a wig around 11. I was off and on until my recent separation and then divorce. I moved into my own apartment and started buying heels, stockings, and panties. I came out to my, then legally separated, wife, and now dress with the full ensemble. 40 years would be the linear time line but actual may be closer to 10 years total for partial dressing/underdressing, and 9 months with the full ensemble:)

I'm 48. I remember being interested in my sister's clothes as early as 5-6, but never got a chance to dress for a while after that. I probably started experimenting around 8-10, then really got into it in my teens.

So dressing at one level or other has been part of my life for over 40 years now. No wonder I feel that it is so normal, and don't understand why anybody would have any kind of issue with it!

I am a complicated person. To make it simple, I'll just say that I have been consciously aware that I am transgender since I was about 13 or so, but my behaviors I was instructed to correct go further back than I can even remember. I am in my early 30s. Crossdressing doesn't entirely factor in to it. But, I'm not gonna write a paragraph on it, so there ya go...

Started when I was less than 10 (but already in school - so more than 7). And later this year I'll be 30. So it makes 20 years of CDing, but considering I tried to be "normal" for 5 years, it effectively makes it 15. :)

Wow, it's interesting to see the number of girls here in my age range, wonder what happened back then? I am 51, and my first memory of purposfully crossdressing was trying on my mom's bra when I was about 11, so 40 years. I quickly moved into panties and makeup after that initial episode and knew I wanted to take a more feminine role in my life. I have tried to quit and purged several times, but we all know how well that works, it never lasted long. If I could do so without hurting many people I love I would go 24/7 tomorrow, and start the road to transition, but that is not to be......Stephanie

I'm 42, and my first, non-voluntary experience (a mom-induced borrowing of my cousin's clothes) was at about 4 or 5. The first time I remember making an effort to crossdress of my own volition, I probably was 10 or 11. So, 37 years in all? I think the first time I actually thought to myself "I am a crossdresser" (I may have used the now archaic-sounding "transvestite"), I was probably in junior high or high school.

Let's see... I'm going to discard the very few times as a child from maybe 8-14, although thinking back that is definitely when the realizations of being different started, so let's say 15 for the start, very closeted until about 4 months ago, and am 27.

So 12 years so far, give or take. Many more happy ones planned for the future! <3

I'm almost 50. My earliest memory was being interested in my mother's shoes and boots and trying them on and being particularly happy when they fit. I remember at around 9 or 10 seeing an actual post-op transsexual woman on a TV talk show and becoming totally interested in her story and how she looked. I couldn't quite understand why I was so interested but knew I should keep it to myself. Later, saw Robert Reed from the Brady Bunch on Medical Center playing a transsexual and remember how cool I thought it would be to be able to become a girl like that. Around 10 or 11 mom dressed me as a girl for Halloween and I remember being incredibly disappointed part of the "costume" didn't include pantyhose or panties and a bra and I didn't know how to ask. The next day I remember trying to ask mom to somehow keep the costume for some reason but she didn't quite catch on to whay I was getting at. I remember we were going to a wedding and how jealous I was of my sister in her silky floral print slip dress, pantyhose, purple Candie's high heel slides and little gold anklet while I was wearing a crappy suit. Later I would often look in her closet to look at her clothes and shoes and check out her drawers to look at and feel her pantyhose and silky lingerie and being pissed off she had all that, seemingly took it all for granted while I would have given just about anything to have that myself. Then there were the times in middle and high school when the girls would sometimes dress up in pretty dresses or skirts, high heels and pantyhose. To this day I can still remember some of those outfits. I have some of my own clothes, shoes, wigs and makeup but I get frustrated because I can't look as good as I'd like so I tend to not dress often and haven't for a while but I am thinking about maybe giving it another go. I don't know if this all makes me just a crossdresser, an actual transsexual or if I have autogynephilia. At least I can come here and share my feeling and experiences that I've kept to myself my entire life with you ladies. I guess that's the next best thing to actually being a girl.

I used to have a dress when I was around 6-8 that I used to wear, now I'm 20, it felt nice and I loved wearing it.
When I got older and grew out of it I never got any more clothes.

Also, something I don't remember myself but when I were 4 and got my first bike my mom took me to the store and asked me to pick any bike I wanted, I picked a purple womans bike :)

All my life I guess, and I turn 41 next week. My parents still have pictures of me as a toddler wearing long white gloves and carying "my" purse; me playing with my dollies, etc. I played dress up with my sister and never gave it a second thought. I raided Mom's clothes until I could buy my own. It's never been discussed openly but I know they are aware of it by the way they used to ask me what my sister and I had done while they were gone. I just wish I'd had the guts in my youth to become the woman I want to be!

I also remember being in gradeschool thinking how kool it would be if I had girl parts. I have tried on previous girlfriends clothes without them knowing.

I purchased my first pair of heels last may. Followed by a pair of pantyhose in november, then heels, skirt, now I have a few dresses.

I keep it all in my car. My roommates don't know anything yet.

I am glad I found this site. It's nice to talk to likeminded people.

A long post here...

I recall being fascinated by girl clothes when I was as young as 5 or 6. I didn’t have sisters but I did have older cousins, and of course, classmates. Girls’ clothes and shoes just looked nice, especially Mary Janes (I still love MJs!). Fear of getting caught, plus the size difference, kept me from trying on my cousins’ stuff. Plus, only girls wore girl clothes, right? Wrong! Gosh, was I ever innocent, but then, it was the 50s.

When I was about 10 I began trying Mom’s stuff on – girdle, panties and stockings. Her shoes were too large for me but I clomped around in them. By the time her shoes would have fit me I wasn’t trying her stuff. What a loss as she had tons of shoes. Through school, both grade school and high school, I continued to be intrigued by the clothing my female classmates work. They had so many options compared to us guys, and some of their outfits were so cute. But I had not heard of transvestites, as we were termed back then, and it didn’t occur to me to wear any of Mom’s stuff, right at the time it would have fit me. Beginning around 7th grade I also spent a lot of time imagining what it would be like to be female instead of male.

I got married in my late 20s and had bought me wife some slinky disco dresses, even though we weren’t into the disco scene, and stockings and a garterbelt. She was too vanilla to wear those gifts, especially the stockings and GB. In the meantime I had become very curious about how it felt to walk in heels. The largest I could find at the time (1981 or so) were size 10. I bought a pair of high heeled sandals and squeezed into them. They were 2 to 3 sizes smaller than I wear now, but I managed. They felt great! Then I decided that if my wife wouldn’t wear stockings, then doggone it, I would! I began buying stuff for myself, a dress, tights, pantyhose, panties, and of course, more shoes and began CDing sporadically. Sometimes I would go for a year or 2 without CDing, but within 3 years or so it took hold and wouldn’t let go, not that I’d let it. Eventually I bought makeup, a wig, nail polish and jewelry.

I’m 59 now and don’t ever envision not being Jenny part of the time. She is just part of me. So, you can decide, with the stopping and starting, when I began CDing. Was it when I was 10, or when I was 28, or sometime afterwards?

What a godsend the internet is. I recall nervously doing a search on crossdressing around 1997. It was as if there’d be a flashing neon sign on the front of the house telling the world what I had just searched, lol. Once I found there were a lot of other girls like me, the floodgates opened for me and I began to accept, and embrace my CDing. In 1999 I picked my fem name.

I often work from home and can be Jenny whenever I want to be as I am divorced and live alone. Jenny has about 2 dozen dresses and 3 or 4 dozen pairs of shoes at any given time. I’m going to be Jenny all day today!

About 40 actual years from when I started, but a long gap during that time. I started after college and then about 6 years later I stopped after I was married for 20 years; and yes I did tell her before we were married; but I just didn't have the urge for that 20 years while my twin girls were growing up. When they started college I got the desire again out of nowhere after 20 years. About 5 years ago I came out and have been out many, many times since then, both tg and ,mainline places, almost always successfully. I felt so isolated and need the strong socialbility that tg gurls can give. I NEVER regretted coming out for one moment. My wife STILL does not like/enjoy my femme side and I do pick and choose reasonable times to express my femme side outside my home. She has never seen me dressed either by photo/in person. I am a brunette/hazel eyes/about 5"8". Always looking for new gurls 4 shopping/dinner/make-up/etc.

I'm 49 now, I've been a crossdresser since I was about 10 or 11, although I had a fascination and an attraction to skirts from a much earlier age. I distinctly remember hoping that my treacher at junior school would be wearing a skirt when she arrived, I hated trousers on women even then.

If I tell, you must promise to keep it a secret.... (58 next month  )
How early? With 5 female cousins living next door and on older sister with me the first male --- can you say "handmedowns"? :D Naw, just kiddin' but they did dress me up quite often when I was little. And even after they stopped... I kept sneeking. :heehee:

Seriously, I've been crossdressing my entire life. I'm in my mid 40's and have finally found the inner strength to embrace it. I feel so relieved. The future is bright.

I have been crossdressing since my early teens and am about to celebrate my 40th birthday. As I write this my life is in transition. My marriage of 10 years is collapsing and right now the only things that keep me going are my sons and my feminine side. It is funny how something that my wife blames for the collapse of our marriage got more important to me after the announcement. I have com to realize that in going forward the only way to do it is to accept me for me and even though there will be consequences I have to wake up in the morning and be happy with who I see in the mirror. My sons will still love me and if their mother doesn't change her controlling behavior she will ruin her relationship with them like she did with us. My dressing was something that was out of her control andshe could not accept this . I know that this could have described the life of a lot of you wonderful people but the words came to me here so I had to get it off of my chest

I've been Keri since John, Paul, George, and Ringo were on the stage. Please don't ask me who that is, I will just feel older! :)

Hmm, I think we have a common thread here. My mom put me in a dress when I was 4 or 5 and all I knew was that it was SO good. Then I got into her closet whenever I could. (She wanted a daughter, but did not want that daughter to be me.) Now I'm 67 and love every minute I'm en femme (that's getting to be a lot of minutes! :battingeyelashes:)

I don't know if is hormone levels in the womb, maternal instincts or the alignment of the planets, but there is little doubt in my mind that my femme inclinations were there from the start -- just needed a little priming! I wonder if that's true for all of us?

I am 68. At about age 12 my mother dressed me as a gril for Haloween party. Loved it. At age 14 I developed breast an they grew until about 17. (Took a lot of verbal abuse over them.) Entered the Army an stayed 21 years, keep my feelings hidden all those years an did not really start Dressing until after my wife passed away. Live in small town USA so I do not get the chance to dress outside the Home very often. However, I underdress completely inside an out everyday. Slacks, jeans, Ts and sweaters. Began HRT about eight months ago an really love the development so far. Have a great day.

I was about 9 when I found alot of enjoyment playing dressup with the older neighborhood girls. They let me wear their frilly little party dresses with petticoats and slips. By 11 I had moved up to wearing mother's panties, bras, girdles, slips, hose and heels. I have had peaks and valleys with dressing ever since (about 50 years) but find the urge to dress more demanding today than ever.

I'm 31, and I've been actively crossdressing since I was 13, though I can remember thinking about it for many years before that.
