Now I have grown out my nails and have good shape and all are almost the same length. Just right, the one thing I had to learn was how to pick up and touch things without breaking or splitting them. I love this it feels more fem. and now I am use to the longer nails I dont break them off anymore at work when I grab things. Also I keep a clear polish on and it also makes my nails stronger. Has anyone else grown their nails longer ? Hugs robin ;)

Working on it, luv, working on it!

Not the easiest thing, since I am still obliged (but not for too much longer) to do guy stuff that can damage them. I look forward to the day when I can maintain them properly and not have to take any risk with them...

I don't grow them real long, but have them at time longer than many guys and some women. When my wife complains then I'll cut them.

Like I have mentioned in another post, my nails are strong and grow really quickly. The problem is that I work from home a lot and I just let my nails grow, sometimes not appreciating their length. Then it gets to the stage where either the wife wants to trim them or when I'm at the office, odd little comments are made.

But, I do grow them out and love doing so. :) I also find that when picking certain things up, there is a different approach to doing it with long nails and it makes your hand actions more femm. :)

Mine were pretty long just yesterday even, but alas, I cut them. They were too long and I'm going on travel for work and needed to get them a reasonable length. Its gotten so that when I look at them now, I think, "uggg gross, short nails". :(

Hello Robin,

I have always liked long nails on myself and I let mine grow pretty long for a guy. About a year a go I started to shape them and make sure I looked after them by pushing the cuticles back and stuff.

Recently, (about 2 months) I have been applying shiny clear polish, which is in actual fact nail hardener. I wear this all the time, even at work. The benefits of doing this are that my nails end up growing even longer now because the hardener seems to make my nails hardly break at all.

Net result: Longer, feminine shaped, shiny nails......and yes, some people have noticed at work !

It's great to see that there are more girls out there like me who love long, polished fingernails. Growing my own out is not feasible, so when I dress I use the glue-on type. I love the ritual of putting them on and how they make my hands look. I love high heels and fine hosiery, lingerie, and anything in satin, but nothing makes me feel as feminine as long, red fingernails.

Hi Robin,
I started applying OPI nail envy to my nails about a year ago and WOW did my nails start to grow but I was not happy, with just the nail hardner so I would put on a super shiney top coat to make my nails look very pretty. Until about six months ago when my youngest daughter wanted to try some new hot pink nail polish out on my nails and I was hooked. I now wear almost any color in either mode and if I get some looks :yikes: like the times that I have went out wearing pink nail, :p I don't care let them look.

Yup, I love my nails, it has been a little over a year since I started wearing gels and I couldn't imagine not having them now :)

I frequently do modding and assorted mechanical repair work which requires messing around with all kinds of cements, paints, cleaning solvents, hand-tools etc. So, it's simply not practical to do anything except keep my nails clipped, and use only an occasional simple nail laquer. I wish I could grow better femme nails without it being an exercise in frustration.

Been wearing acrylics for several months now. My nail tech always wants to put a design on them and it's just so hard to tell her no. :D Very few people notice... but one that did was my daughter-in-law. Still explaining that one!

I used to have long nails for a man, but not as long as i'd liked! I was already getting comments from my co-workers about it!

I soooo really wanted to use nail polish on them, but wouldn't have gone down well at work or with my clients!

At the moment, they are short, but will grow my nails long again eventually!

Christine.

Yes I grow mine long, but being in an engineering job I break them all the time. I've just cut them all back to start growing them again... feels weird without long nails now...

I wear glue on acrylic nails---Not the pre polished self-stick kind, but I buy the plain DIY ones, in the 120 packs. This way I can always be assured of having the nails in the right size for all my fingers.---Of course, each nail must be shaped and filed for each finger, BEFORE they are glued on, (I use the LIQUID superglue--not the gel) and given a final shape afterwards--Then they are polished.---

If I say so myself, they dont look bad, and a few GG women have asked me if I had them done professionally.

Of course, the reason I wear them is so I can take them off when I go back to guy mode.---I pry on the sides or near the bottom,(Never try from the front, you could dammage your real nail) and they usually POP right off, and 9 out of 10 times, INTACT, and re-usable. The liquid superglue washes off with nail polish remover.

what are GELS DANA can you explain? :)KellyAnn - I have a lengthy explaination of all artificial nail types in the Beauty Club if you would like to join. But a short answer is that gel is a thick liquid that is brushed on your nails (either on your natural nails or applied nail tips) and then cured under a special UV light. Gels are thinner and more natural looking than acrylics, and are very shiney. They can only be removed via filing them off. It is difficult to find a qualified tech to do them properly.

I like them because they strengthen my nails, but are thin enough and natural looking enough that no one has ever suspected I have been wearing artificial nails for the last year :)

A couple of weekends ago, I got long nails as a early BDay present. No my wife doesn't know, she did it because I complain all the time about how bad my nails are to break and etc.
Two of my nails (Thumb and Index) on the left hand are natural. All the rest are acrylic. All have a coating that she brushed on. It took her about 45 minutes and was fantastic to watch the process. When she was finished, she asked if I wanted polish. I almost said RED, but that would be pushing it to far and make my wife curious.
I have found over the last week and half that hardly anyone notices my long nails or at least no one has said anything. LOL

I started to grow my nails long about 6 months ago and they kept breaking but 3 months ago I started to put on clear nail varnish and that seems to have done the trick. I now have to cut and shape them every fortnight otherwise they would become too long and would be noticed.

I have been wearing different colours nail varnish on my toes for most of the time since December of last year.
