Professor Bailey is well known for his controversial book, "The Man who would be Queen".
Once again, it appears that he is searching more for celebrity than for scientific truth.

Personally I don't think this is what our founding fathers had in mind when they penned the first amendment. I believe their intentions were to protect the right of the people to discuss, in public, issues of religion and politics with out fear of governmental persecution. Obviously the cultural revolution of the 1960s legitimately added to this list issues of civil rights which should include sexual orientation, gender identity, womens rights, minorities rights, etc. It seems unnecessary to me to allow public sex acts to be held in the same regard. The professor stated that he could not think of a reason to disallow the performance however I fail to see how allowing it added to the topic of discussion. It did not seem to be an educational demonstration, like say showing students how to properly use a condom, but rather some sort of avant garde cabaret performance. How is this not indecent exposure? If those same students had preformed their sex act on the campus lawn they would both be in jail and probably facing expulsion. Wouldn't a discussion of unusual sex acts and or a display of various sex toys have been sufficient to promote a health debate on the subject? Even if some how in some alternate universe this did have educational value it should have been the professors responsibility to warn students ahead of time so they could decide for them selves wether or not they wanted to watch two people have sex. I think this just shows how far out in LEFT field our institutions of higher learning have wondered. I believe our founding fathers trusted that commonsense and decency would prevail and for the most part it does. There will always be individuals, especially of collage age, who feel it is their right or duty to filp a big middle finger to the rest of the world as if doing so some how proves something. Usually these people aren't even sure what it is they are trying to prove so in the end they wind up proving only that they are indeed ignorant.

Sure looks that way !! While I understand the basic idea of the demo, I think it was completely unnecessary ! Heck, here at the U of Iowa, even a photo of such would probably land you in the Provost's office
