I am going to be in Walnut Creek, California next Monday on biz, and I will pack an extra suitcase for you-know-who. If any of you California girls are up for a little shopping and an early dinner at Broadway Plaza or Main Street, let me know. If you are dead-on passable, come in drag. If you are a wannabe, come in drab and we can still share a little girl talk. Drop me a line if you're up for it, Windy

The main reason I'm posting to this, Wndy, is to bump it up to the top of the page again. But if you ever come to the East Coast, give me a ring. :)

I would love to!
Gotta a plane ticket?
What if they checked my baggage?
Don't worry about the baggage... just check it versus carry on if you are overly concerned.

Now it can be told! I am that lucky girl! I am stoked.
Windy and I have been trying to set something like this up for months, but the timing was never right. This time it is :) I don't have a digicam but I think she does.

If you'r talking the last weekend in the month count me in.Sadly, Noel, we are talking Monday 9/26. Next time, perhaps. Maybe we need permanent threads by geography to help us all organize things like this.

Decisions, decisions...do I wear my short gray skirt with a white dickey and black sweater, or my print skirt with a stretchy top, or my plaid kilt with a turtleneck? Flats for sure, since we'll be doing a lot of walking and I don't want to look too tall. Maybe I'll go with a scrunchie and a ponytail for that natural look. Nothing too glam, Rach, we don't want to attract attention to ourselves! This is going to be so great! Windy

Whichever way you go, the black jumper with a white or pastel blouse or top sounds right for me. I'll do something casual with my hair but will avoid a ponytail, we don't want the Bobbsey Twins effect.
For you, the kilt/turtleneck sounds kinda cute to me! Flats make sense. I guess I can carry my blue pumps in a tote bag. (I want to find things that go with them.)
Do you have your heart set on anyplace in particular for dinner? Do you have a digital camera? I suppose we should be doing this offline, though. Making the others eat their hearts out can only come back to haunt us.
I’m sooooooooooooo excited! *dances in circles*

Dear Rachel Ann:
Just my luck, the wrong place at the wrong time. :crying: Well, we're going to make a weekend of it still. So Cindy when you get back to "Chitown" and it's painted "magenta" you can blame me. BTW Cindy, can you recomend some places to visit in Chicago in the Michigan Ave. Miricle Mile area that we should visit?
Hugs and kisses, Noel

I'm easy on where we have dinner, although I have gone to CPK lots of times and never had a problem, if we go there we could share a salad and one of those fabulous little pizzas, and I will definitely stuff my digital camera in my purse so we can take pictures toasting each other over a glass of one of your wonderful California Chardonnays. I am just off to the airport, it looks like there is a chance of rain :o so I threw my woman's raincoat into my suitcase, just in case. Call you tomorrow! Windy

All dressed up and waiting in my hotel room for Rach to get here (MEN!) so she can transform herself, then it's off to the mall. I decided to go with a sweater set, my short gray skirt, black stockings and flats. Having a good hair day, thanks to a new hairband, can't wait to get out there! Will tell you all about it when we get back, Windy

By all means do post your personal and collective experiences... Perhaps you can eventually write a "how-to" article on "cross-continent cyber meetups"!.

By the time Rachel got to my hotel, it was kinda late, so after she got dressed, we just sat and talked and talked and talked and talked. I have never had a gabfest as a girl before, and it was so great to be able to just share our feelings and experiences. We are two totally opposite people, but we have this one incredible thing in common that bonds us like sisters. It was a different kind of evening than my usual "Let's see if I can pass" experience, one which I will treasure always. Windy

Windy is one of the most passable girls I’ve met who hasn’t taken hormones. She has good features, excellent carriage, and a graceful way of presenting herself and speaking that shows attentiveness. Overall, though, I’d say that her “passability” comes not from any feature or group of features as much as from the quiet confidence that she projects.
It was irresponsible of me to make a date at a time when I know that my schedule (due to packing and moving) is very subject to disruption. As it happened, an earlier appointment that I had scheduled for 2pm was postponed at the last minute until 5pm, so I was a couple of hours late even before arriving at her hotel and starting to change (in to my black jumper, pink polka-dot blouse, blue shoes and rather wild, untameable hair). Walnut Creek is the sort of town where they roll up the streets after 8pm on weekdays, so we bagged shopping and dinner, and just settled in for an evening of girl talk.
We couldn’t be coming from more different places as girls and as people in general, but that didn’t stop us from chumming up at once, and having a million things to talk about. It turned out to be a very cordial and pleasant evening. I learned a lot, and I hope that I was able to pass a few things along to her as well. I know that I made a great friend and look forward to staying in touch.
So, Windy, it wasn’t what we had planned but I really enjoyed the way things turned out and I hope you did, too.

Rachel,
I wouldn't have missed it for the world! I've had more than my share of shopping days, but never a heart-to-heart with another girl. For the record, you have terrific legs and your hands are to die for, and if I had a head of hair like yours, I would never wear a wig again. I hope my fashion tips weren't too tiresome, can't help myself I guess.
The most amazing part was when you changed back to Rick (he's a hunk, girls) and we just continued talking like we were the same people. Which we are.
