Today I did something unusual - I went shoe shopping.
Nothing unusual about that, but what did make it unusual was the fact that I was shopping for mens shoes! lol
Anyway, after being repeatedly disappointed by poor quality, I dont shop for womens shoes at Payless anymore, but I'm not so fussy about my guy shoes, and so when I saw Payless right next to the Subway sandwich shop I was getting lunch at, I decided to step in and buy some new guy shoes.
As I was sitting on the bench trying on a pair of running shoes, a woman walked past me. At least I thought it was a woman right up until "she" let loose with a decidedly masculine cough. I glanced up at her and quickly realized that I was looking at another TG, and so I gave her my very best smile, but I didn't say anything as I didn't want to risk shooting down her confidence.
When I took my shoes up to the counter, the manager gave me a smile.
"You know we are having a 'buy one pair, get the other half off' sale?" she asked, and so off I went, looking for another pair of shoes. More specifically, womens shoes. I found a pair of tan pumps that would be only $13 after the half off deal, and so I returned to the counter where I found the TG woman in line in front of me. She took one look at the pumps and got a huge grin on her face.
"Ah!" she said "So are you a drag girl?"
"Pretty much!" I grinned back at her.
"Me too." she told me.
We chatted for a good 5 to 10 minutes about this and that and then went our own ways.
I thought that the most interesting thing about the encounter was the fact that we were standing there in front of everyone and having a casual and candid conversation about who and what we were. Neither of was ashamed and neither of us was shy about it, and not one person standing around us seemed to care in the very least.

Ah you have found heaven in Texas I see. What a chance encounter. Hopefully this will happen more in the future...

Kimberly,

What an enjoyable experience that must have been. I can only hope that I might be able to have that type of experience someday as well. I would look forward to it!

I think it's wonderful that your chance encounter with another cd'er resulted in a positive interaction for you both...and to think it would never have taken place had there not been the sale offer...definitely worthwhile all around!

Okay, let me first say, THANK YOU, Kim for not taking up half my day to read one of your adventure stories :heehee::tongueout Hey, you know I'm kidding, always love those stories and yes, I was a bit surprised to not see it as one.

Its great that the encounter went as such and so much comfortability in it all. For just a comment, a few weeks ago, an SA used a similiar term 'drag'. I know it may have been wrong for me to correct her, but I was nice about it. Not looking to bring up a topic of grouping, but its funny to see the term used twice now. Just a thought is all. :)

Thank you for sharing..

Hugs,
Marissa

Great story Kimberly, I too have seen other Tgirls at my favorite thrift store but never got the opportunity to chat with any of them. Perhaps it will happen someday.

Based upon your experiences and travel I would think you would be comfortable in any setting or location.

Well, yay!! What a wonderful encounter! I'm glad you were open in talking to her. I would certainly hope someone would be so open with me. Trust me, you're not going to disturb me or make me run off like a scared deer.

I'm so clueless I probably run into other Tgirls all the time but never notice.
One day you will be posting about running into some totally non passable Tgirl and it will be me.

P.S. I was at the Round Rock outlet mall today and I know that's right in your neighborhood. But I wasn't at payless.

Yeah, I do NOT like the term "drag" either, but it's not worth creating hard feelings or coming off as a jerk for trying to hook her up on it

And that is one of the things that I like about you! Still, all TG's are not quite as comfortable and confident as you are my friend, and so I hesitate to approach some when I see them out and about.

That's so funny! I drove right by the place today on the way to a Goodwill on 1431 near Leander. I seriously thought about taking a peek at the outlets but decided it was better to get home and spend a few hours with the family.

Now THAT was definitely an unexpected and rewarding experience. Just goes to show we should be prepared to be more open if we encounter another sister by chance. Well done Kim for being so open.

What a great day shopping Kimberly. It's always great to find something unexpectantly while shopping and you had two.

I think ya should have said "Hi, I'm Kimberly"
"cause to me, that would be like saying, "yes I read you, but that's only because "it takes one, to know one"

If I had been in line behind u, I would have cared, Kim!
I HATE waiting in lines to begin with! Then, when folks start chatting casually with the SO at the register, my blood pressure begins to rise!

Hopefully, u meant folks around NOT waiting in line?

Geez, I miss all the fun up in Austin! Was up in that area all last week on 1431, I-35, driving by the outlet mall while searching for RVs! Guess I need to start hitting the malls, Payless and Goodwill more often....:battingeyelashes:

I swear if I ran into Kimberly the first thing I would do is ask for her autograph.....:)
