View Full Version : Perfect quote for the reality of life after SRS...post-transition...

...“I never promised you perfect justice . . . and I never promised you peace of happiness. My help is so that you can be free to fight for all of those things. The only reality I offer is challenge, and being well is being free to accept it or not at whatever level you are capable. I never promise lies, and the rose-garden world of perfection is a lie . . . and a bore, too!”...
I'm well now...but I must work for my own happiness...

Zenith, that quote is not just a reality for life after SRS, it is a reality for
life for every single person on this planet if they are to be truly happy.
And yes we must work very hard for our happiness, overcoming the fear in
transitioning is the hardest thing of all to master, but I think I am doing OK ;)

Was in a deep depression after surgery, since so many unexpected setbacks...but must move on now...
Definitely not a rose garden but something much more precious...freedom...

And therein lies the truth of this whole controversy.
What happens after SRS is LIFE. Life happens. You can go on to be who and what you want. All you have to do is get up, get dressed, feed the cat, make coffee, go off to work, stop for groceries on the way home, call you BF in the evening, and in general just live your life free from fear and hesitations.
This is amazingly freeing. This is amazingly rewarding. This is amazingly enjoyable. LIFE! Who would have thunk it, huh?

I agree. The further along in transition the more anticlimactic it becomes. When you first start it so so interesting and different and exciting. Then you go full time and life starts getting normal again. This is were I totally agree with Stephani.. you get up in the morning and live life. You go to the store, school, work, and be yourself the whole time. no more hiding no more pretending. It's not easier but it is better, a hell of a lot better.

A YouTuber that I watch quite frequently just went for her GCS with Bowers in the past few weeks, and videoed the chronicles of her passage with quite detail. I must admit, in watching those segments, I did indeed feel so many emotions... envy.. sadness, concern, worry, and on and on.. She too said something similar in one of her videos, only a week post-op - that SRS/GCS is just another step.. that afterwards it doesn't change your body or mind miraculously, but gives you the freedom of not worrying about that mere piece of additional, cumbersome baggage.
Never minding the additional things, new experiences and sensations that will be a part of your life forever now, keeping your mind/thoughts/willpower focused on the good things will not only keep you happier, but will aid in heeling.
I wish you all the very best Julie, may your challenges be well within your tolerances, and your rewards just. *hugs*

This is a very important idea we should all keep in mind. Transition will not fix everything, it will only allow us to move on in life.

Nice,
But I prefer the more to the point, sometimes not, quotes that cover life as we know it on planet earth.
"No matter where you go ............ There you are."
"Life sucks ............. Get a helmet"
"Well, what the hell? You ride her until she bucks you or don't ride at all."
"Come to the Dark Side ............. We have cookies!"
"If it was easy, everybody would be doing it"
"Go really fast ....... and if something gets in your way ..... turn."
"Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses. Because if you don't, you just might miss'em."
"It's better to be dead and cool then alive and uncool."
And finally .............
"These go to 11"

I am so happy you are doing better. Quotes are fine but the daily grind is what we all face and sometimes it just plain sucks. I would like to add something from Martin Luther "everything that is done in the world is done by hope" without hope we have nothing to look too.
