View Full Version : Do You Dress Your Age?

Hi everyone,

I know I promised to keep down the number of new threads I start but Jill's recent post about the eBay store she liked (called bigbaby fashions) got me thinking about this issue. I don't think it is covered in any other threads (although it might be touched on in Nina's fetish thread).

Do you dress your age? In other words, do you wear women's clothes that are appropriate for your real age? I have to admit that while a lot of my clothes are age appropriate for a woman in her early 20s, I also own a lot of clothes that are more appropriate for a younger teen girl. I buy some of my clothes through delia's, for example, which is aimed at high school teens. I have a lot of real short shorts and minis which are made for junior girls, more than women in their 20's. A lot of my jeans are also junior style with super big flares and super low rise.

I take it even further in some of my undies. I have lots of panties that are in girl's size 12 or 14, like most of my day-of-the-week panties. I have a couple of training bras designed for young girls. The most extreme example is that I own a set of Barbie panties in girl's size 10. They are pretty tight but they are so cute (they have ruffles around the legs and Barbie's picture on them).

Now of course not all of my clothes are suited for younger girls. Right now for example, I am wearing a pair of panties from Frederick's of Hollywood that any self-respecting teen would be shocked by.

I am not sure why I sometimes like to wear younger girl's clothes except that I am making an attempt to recreate the girlish childhood I was not able to live myself.

Does anyone else wear clothes that are too young or too old for their real age?

I'd say I dress younger. This could even be a poll! Mike is 36 (A girl never reveals her age) and I'd say I dress as a 28-30 year old would. Short skirts, fun colors, high heels. Except for hosiery, which I adore, I wear all the time so that makes me dressing as a woman in her 70's. (Thats all I ever see in hosiery)

Good question, though. And great thread! I am just surprised to see YOU starting a thread. See sumthin' new every day! ;)

I try to dress to my age (18) and usually do. But I do like wearing that 'office atire' line now and again to feel a bit older.

I would say yes. Young feminine 54.

Jenny I've noticed you've started a few threads like this with a similar theme. And you seem concerned that you like younger female clothes. I don't think abnormal or strange. It's simply your preference. I agree with you there are reasons for this but I would say not too worry. To quote you:

Don't sweat the petty stuff.....

Yes, I certainly do. I guess I'm conservative, preferring knitted tops and tasteful knee length (or a little below) skirts. Pearls, etc etc. Stockings always, and no more than 3" heels. As for undies my preference is for lacy high cut knickers, half slips and matching bra. After all I am in my 70's.

I would never want to get to the stage of thinking if I should dress appropiate for my age, if I see something I like and feel it would look good on me I buy it. ;)

"Yes". I dress in my twenties - I am in my twenties. I will dress older as I get there but enjoying my youth for now and I've always looked younger as a girl :D!!

Well... I'm FTM but I dress older.
I'm 18... I dress in a lot of dress shirts and slacks, or Levi's 501 buttonfly jeans (black), dressboots, etc.
Occasionally I'll wear just jeans and a t- shirt or some heavy metal attire.
I really like the look of going classy or somewhat professional, with shirts with French cuffs and cufflinks, suits, ties, etc.
But classy, unique stuff that most people wouldn't wear at all. Not to say I'm classier than most, but I've got a unique fashion sense and I pair things together that most people wouldn't. I'm daring when it comes to clothes.
I like the red carpet look. I'm a movie star bloke, or a rock star bloke.
Not sure what age group it qualifies as... I dress to emulate certain people sometimes. I bought a blue suit that's like Eddie Izzard's famous blue suit:
http://img68.exs.cx/img68/358/tony11.jpg

The only difference in mine is that the pockets don't slant, the buttons are a different colour, and the lining of the jacket is blakc (his is gold).
I've got some pictures in mine but I haven't scanned them yet. When I do, I'll post them :)

Dressing your age is one of the secrets to successful passing. I love to show my legs, but a knee length skirt is about as daring as I can get away with. If you have athletic-looking legs like me, the trick is to have your hemline intersect your legs just below your calf muscles, so the tapering part of your legs makes them look even thinner than they are. Of course, when I sit down, I can't resist tugging my dress or skirt up...Ask Windy (http://snurl.com/askwindy)

Hi all,

Had to think about this thread a bit. I am 47 and guess I try to dress trendy for my age, if that makes sense. In other words I am always seeking that younger look without over doing it (let's face it I can't look 18 any more!)

I love stockings and shortish dresses and skirts, but I am only dressing to please myself so I guess that I can think I look good in them, even though I know I probably dont.

Anyway it was a thread to get the OLD brain matter working! Thanks!

I am in my late twenties and I feel that I dress appropriately for my age during the 90's.Which brings about another question does anyone dress from a different era or decade? :p

I think I'm definatly like you Jenny. I'm in my early twenties and I love teen girl fashions. I would say my range is from girl 16 year old girl to a 22 year old girl. :)

I'm lucky enough to be 21. College girls dress so nice. I try to look like them.
The problem is, I don't think I'll ever wanna stop dressing like one.

I guess the question can't really apply to the way I dress :)

Yay for me! I'm ageless!

I believe I dress around my age group. Sometime a little bit younger wearing reaveling clothing such as a extremely short mini or I can go the other way and look like I just stepped out of an office. It all depends on how I feel that day I guess.

Love Always

Hi Jenny,

No I don't dress my age but it's not because I am trying to look younger. The clothes that appeal to me are what I call "fun" clothes. These are usually short skirts, tight tops and high heels. I call them fun because to me I imagine how fun it would be to wear them. When I see myself in them I imagine doing fun things. This brings a smile to my face. That makes me happy. Happy is where I want to be.

A friend of mine says we should dress our age (50+) but dressing up for me is a fun experience. I don't want to dress strictly so I can pass. That would mean wearing old lady clothes and that would be very boring. Then I'd have to sit and sip tea and talk about how shocking today's young girls dress, etc.

Passing is not my objective. Having fun is. You only go around once in life so you gotta grab all the gusto you can!

If I'm feeling "sexy" I definitely dress younger. For an every day mood I prefer a more conservative look. For an "out on the town" look I like to go with the strickly formal look. Isn't that what all girls do?

On my currently few opportunities to dress I wear what I like. Age is irrelevent( i'm 55 ). If you like it. wear it.
PS There's nothing wrong with age. Something none of us can avoid. Enjoy life whilst you can.

Love you all

Hi Girls,

I think I dress fairly appropriately for my age  . Not 100% sure, but I certainly don't go for mini skirts, crop tops and other 'teenage' attire. I have got one short layered skirt, which I love and a short sarong, but I have only worn these out very breifly as, although I think they look great on me (or do I look great in them  ), they are the sort of thing that will quickly draw (unwanted) attention to me.

I do like the look I get with longer skirts, I feel it suits me better and I certainly feel very comfortable with the look.

Agree completely with Julietta and Julie M.: if I like it and it's "fun", I go for it! Who cares about age? Kisses, Edie

Depends on my mood. Started rather conservative (read my age), learned I could be more youthful, enjoy a younger sexy look time to time, then came casual everyday clothing (more age appropriate), lately more formal clothes are appealing to me and I still have this itch for a skirt suit!

It seems like I dress as a girl in her 20s who is going for a trashier teen look. Hot Topic may be anathema to real trendy teens, but they've got some cute stuff and the clerks (at least in my area) are totally cool with me buying plaid skirts or whatever. Not the kind of place I'd try stuff on though.

In the main, yes. I dress as I believe appropriate to an older middle class lady with a good figure. Mmnnnn, but I am inclined to wear skirts shorter than genuine ladies in their 70's.

I can't help but join the conversation.

I don't dress for my age, I dress for the look. I love the classic look. I love the hint of mystery associated with showing the knee with some slip lace just peeking out. I love Brooks Brothers; I love Talbots; I love Nordstrom. I like the conservative, business look....it seems to draw more attention from the right type of people.

That is not to say that I don't miss wearing something very vamp. I have great legs and LOVE to tempt truckers as you go by them at dusk. Helpful hint: if you see a light attached to the driver side mirror, it usually means that they will shine it into the passing car trying to catch a glimpse of "leg." I have played "hide and see" for up to 3 hours with one trucker. It was driving him nuts. NOW...I know what real girls do when it comes to teasing [and I don't mean hair.]

Hugs and teases.....

I will always dress the same or close to the same all my life. There is no definition of age when I dress. It's only because most people have to follow rules, and have to dress according to the rules. If your old the rules say, then you have to dress old. Nope, not for me, there are no rules, I dress any way I want, I don't care what people say, their opinions mean diddly-squat.

Abraxas- I really like the blue suit you mentioned, it would go good with a pair of creepers(shoes).

I do dress my age, but we all know that not everyone the same age dresses the same. A GG who has great legs will be more likely to wear something short than someone who doesn't have nice legs. I don't dress for shock value. I try to wear something appropriate for the environment I'm going to. If I'm going shopping, I will normally wear something either slightly above or below the knee. If I'm going dancing, I'll usually wear something short but not micro. If I'm going to visit at a friend's house I wear something casual which may be short or long. I try to look nice whether I'm going out or staying home.

I am older (mid 40s) and I try to look in my 20s! Most of the time I just dress for myself so I just try to feel younger! I also like to dress rather seductively, then if I do go out, I bring a more conservative type jacket, but leave it partially open.

I guess you could say that I have clothes for several age groups up to the early 40's, but prefer the younger trendy look.

I am young and dress young but when I get older I will still dress young and if it makes me feel good to dress this way i'll keep doing it no matter what others say. Having said that I sometimes see older women in long pattern dresses and like the thought of wearing this type of thing now and again. I think as i get older maybe i'll just look at what looks good on sexy older women and go with that.
