Do you wear panties to your doctor visits? Do you wear nail pollish on you toe nails when you visit the doctor or remove it. I remove my toe nail polish and don't wear panties. Should I care?:o

I heard a story about a guy that was involved in an accident and was taken to the er. When the Dr removed his shoe, his pink toenails were out for all to see. The Dr exclaimed "nice toes", to which the burly man replied a muffled "thanks", and got extremely red. When the nurse stepped out, the Dr took off his shoe and showed the man his red toenails! It's more common than you think, however, I don't have the nerve to let anyone see it other than my great & wonderful wife!

Before I retired from the Navy, not a chance even if I was pretty sure they wouldn't be seen. Now I wear them wherever I happen to be going. My toes aren't usually polished and my fingernails only on weekends but if I have a weekend appointment the polish stays and for one trip to the optometrist so did a jean skirt and pair of mary jane pumps.

As for the caring about it panties or painted nails are likely pretty low on the list of strange things most doctors have seen and other than a few rare cases mentioned here doctors as a group are pretty professional about it. Nurses may giggle about it and doctors chuckle (or vice versa :D ) later after you're gone. I wouldn't sweat it.

I wear panties all of the time, and I'm not about to change that for my doctor. If I'm wearing nail-polish that day, it stays on. If for some reason I cannot get out of the house that day wearing a skirt or dress, I put one in my (large!) purse and change at the mall before going in to the waiting room; if I have a long wait (typical) for my appointment, I wander around the mall dressed. Oh yes, my doctor has also seen my forms, as I slipped them out of my bra before being weighed one time.

I also do not switch out of panties before going to my back massages -- though I do avoid wearing see-through panties when I go to those. I've gone there in skirts or dresses.

I am who I am, and hiding that from the doctor would be a medical mistake.

I went to my doctor the other day for a sinus infection. They said I would see the PA, rather than the doctor. The PA was a beautiful young lady, who checked me out and left the room. When she returned she said pull down your pants for a shot. I wear panties 24/7, so I pulled those down as well. She gave me the shot without a word being said about my panties. Had I needed to take my socks off she would have seen the color of the day on my toe nails too. It is really not a concern of mine anymore if they know or knot. I am there for medical attention and I hope they keep their comments to their selves.

Doctor/patient confidentiality pretty much sums it up. If I was going for something a bit more serious or long-term than a physical exam or where family and friends visit, I'd probably dress normally as I'm there for something a bit more important than how I dress. But plain old doctor's appointment, doesn't much matter to me. They can't say anything publicly about it.

Recently went to see GP before an upcoming surgery on my knee.As I have been complaining of more pain than the usual she had me drop my pants.I gave her a little "well this could be interesting" as I was wearing pantyhose and a pretty blue pair of Lacey briefs. The little smile from her was nothing compared to the shock on the Med student's.He was from an eastern culture and I could sense his discomfort which made me smile. My GP did not know before this and only asked me to put my panties and pantyhose back on when she was finished her exam.
She has since removed my staples from surgery (was wearing petty red briefs with little bows on side of legs)nothing was said.

I went in for my annual physical in November wearing panties and knee hi's. My female doctor never even batted an eye as she asked me to remove my shirt and pants. She even checked out my knees by holding my foot and pushing the legs to the left and right to check my joints. Other than that all my other clothes were drab. Next time I might even wear my bra.

It really depends on what you want and need to do. I am part time and see no need to involve my doctor, nor any of my guy mode friends, family, service providers and co-workers. If I was full time, or wanted to always express my feminine side as much as possible, then I would probably go en femme or under dressed with painted nails and toes to the Doctor's office.

My toes are almost always some shade of red, and my fingernails are always a pale pink with a feminine shape. Oh yes, I do wear silk or satin panties to the doctors office! He has seen more of me than I have myself, so he may as well see what I wear!! My Endrochronologist, who takes care of my Diabetes, always asks me what shade of red polish is on my toes before he looks!! Most doctors and nurses don't really care, they have usually seen it all!

I had a DR. Appt. Yesterday. i am ashamed to say I went "drabish". I took of my fingernail polish but left my acrylics on. I took off my bra and forms, which I normally wear 24/7. I left my toes painted "Big Apple Red" and I wore black panties (Panties are all I have). I wore a pair of gray womens jeans that look like men's and a men's polo shirt which was 3 size too big. (also the only one I have). When I signe in I'm sure the receptionist noticed my nails but said nothing. The only issue was I had to have a chest x ray and when i took off my shirt the bra line was clearly visable. The girl taking the X ray smiled a little but said nothing. I was planning on telling my DR. about being trans, so that next time I could just stay dressed. problem was he was out for the day and i got the other Dr. in the office who i don't really know.

Since I have told my female doctor about my gender identity disorder, I always go in as enfemme as I can without a wig. I haven't had my nails done yet, but hopefully soon I will. She has no problem with my dressing whatsoever. It's really refreshing to be able to go to a doctor dressed as is. Besides, a doctor should be known aware if you dress or not, they need a complete picture to help their patients.

I wear plain cotton bikinis to the doctor. I make a conscious effort to avoid wearing my pink, frilly, lacy thongs and such.
But having said that, I haven't had to remove my pants (yet). Nor my shoes. But if and when that occurs, he will get an eyeful.

I actually have a Dr appointment tomorrow morning (yearly physical). He is male. I'm not sure if I will wear white panties there or not. I did the last two times. I was told to undress down to my briefs by the nurse as she left the room. When the Dr came in he said to "lower those", but no other comment. The first time he did order me to have my testosterone checked along with other blood work. ?? I think I might wear them again. It might be awkward if I didn't.

I go to my GP all the time under dressed (bra, panties, hose). We have had long talks about my gender life style, he also had me on hormons for about 6 years, until I started having some medical problems. The last few times I have went in, I was totaly dressed in fem.

I am seeing my doctor in June and I won't wear panties, as I am scared to wear them around him. I have been his patient for 10 years now. This will be the first time I will go with smooth legs. Before I have always let leg hair grow out before I have my annual visit with him.

This winter I fell on the ice, wound up with a concussion, and lower back injury. I had to go to the ER and naturally, had X-Rays on the lower back. Well off came the pants revealing a nice pair of white lacy panties for the viewing of the male X-Ray Techs. One of them said "Let me move this sheet to provide some modesty." Nothing else was said. They were professional and I learned any embarrassment of the moment passes and becomes no big deal. It was only in my mind.

Hugs,

I wear panties 24/7. I used to have a couple of pairs of male underwear for doctor's appointments and the like. However, one of the last times I went in for a check-up, I had forgotten I had the appointment! I'd gotten so used to wearing panties all the time that I went w/o even thinking. Then it happened! All was going well until he decided to check my abdomen, below the belt line! :o He didn't say anything, though I did see a little bit of embarrassment on his face. :heehee: I was wearing a pair of pale blue panties w/ little flowers on them. Also, the the fancy band that said Hanes her way, might have given it away! LOL

As for toes....That happened once in the ER. Luckily, my wife made light of it with the doctor and the nurse.

The end result: I used to be embarrassed, but now, I figure....Whatever! Life is too short.

No need to worry at all. They have seen it all and as professionals they will say nothing, nor in most cases even care. I have been to the doctor 6 times in the past two weeks for bandages and inspection of large blisters on my feet. Toe nails painted each time and no comment other than one nurse who wanted to know the color I was wearing and where I got the polish.

I sprained my ankle really bad at work, they sent me to see a doctor. I totally forgot my nails were groomed and polished until I was waiting for my name to be called. I got so nervous! When they saw my foot I told them my GF wants to work at a salon and that I let her practice on me. They didn't care they were only concerned with my injury. I am sure they have seen things a million times more weird.

I'm a little nervous about dressing in front of the doctor myself. Back in the early nineties I got an angioplasty that failed. They shaved my lower region for the operation. A week later I was right back in the hospital for the same thing. When the tech went to shave me again he freaked out since I was bare down there even thou the hospital had done it to me just a week before. So now I always look for male cloths to wear to anything medical, it just makes me nervous now. I know the doctors do not care but the support people make me nervous.

Hi PrettyToes,

If you get pedicures I would suggest that you show them off by wearing open toe sandals. I have been doing this is male mode for several years. Whenever I'm not at work, I wear women's open toe sandals and my toenails are always some shade of bright red or hot pink. Most of the time, they are OPI Big Apple Red. It is a really liberating experience to wear your toenails polished in male mode and is really no different that having tattoos or earrings. You really should give it a try.

Recently saw a car crash. As I am helping the firefighters literally pull one out of the window of a completely demolished car, saw it was a guy in skirt and heels. No wig, and wearing a male top. Surprising thing......not one single firefighter/medic/cop or even bystander laughed or made a comment. Stops being so funny when something like that happens. People are tollerant when they allow themselves to comprehend simple logic.

I have worn panties to my last three dr. visits, two have been my annual check up and i had to disrobe. I also went to my dermatologist and she had me strip to my underwear ( which were light blue panties with bows and lace) so her and her assistant could check my entire body for sun damaged skin spots. all she had to say was, those are cute

Even in my most drab mode, I always wear panties and women's trouser socks, keep my toenails polished, wear long acrylics on my fingers, am shaved from the neck down, and have some femme tattoos and piercings. Every doctor I've seen for the last 14 years or so (including four surgeries and one 9-day stint in the hospital) has seen all of this, and the most anyone has ever said was, "love your ink," or "what's the name of that nail polish?" It's just not an issue if it doesn't affect your health.

I only wear panties, but when I have a dr.'s appointment, I will wear my plain nylon or cotton panties. For my physicals, they have me strip to just my underwear and provide a gown. For some parts of the process though, the gown is raised so my panties are clearly visible. I've never yet had a comment from my doc (female). I did have a panic a couple weeks ago though, as I had to go and get a persistant cough checked out. Thinking that I wouldn't be undressing for that, I was wearing my nicer panties that have a lacey waistband. The doc had my remove my shirt to listen to my breathing, and I realised after that when I pulled my shirt off (it was tucked into my pants), the waistband pulled up above my pants! I'm sure the doc must have noticed, but if she did it didn't show - no comments were made. I was a bit embarrassed though! As others have said, I'm sure they've all seen it before, so it's not a big deal. Still, I think from now on, I'll be wearing my plain panties for ANY visit!

Last year I was having a lot of pain in my calf muscles so my doc sent me to an imaging center to have the arteries scanned. I'm thinking to myself they will do the doppler thing on my calves so it would be safe to wear my favorite panties underneath my shorts. When I got there the technician (a very cute girl) ask me "are you wearing boxers or briefs?" I about had a heart attack right then and their. I said briefs, and she said well good, you can leave them on, take your shorts off and cover up with this sheet. She checked my arteries from my big toe all the way to my groin! She tucked a small towel around my panties to keep the lubrication from getting on them. I had no doubt she knew I was wearing panties but she didn't bat an eye. She was very professional and friendly.

My wife and I both are shaved in the private area and neither of us have ever had a single comment from our doctors. I don't think my doc would even think twice if I happen to be wearing panties at my physical. I will find out pretty soon as I have my annual scheduled in June.

Went to my Chiropractor today dressed as Sally. The DC had never seen me en femme before but she recognized me right away and did not have a problem with the way I was dressed. It did make it difficult for me to position myself on the treatment table but she was very patient. MY back feels much better now. I had previously re-scheduled treatments because of what I was wearing. Not necessary now.

Speaking from a professional point of view, doctors and nurses have seen FAR stranger things than woman's panties on you.

Not only that, but we just don't care. And with today's assembly line health care system, doctors and nurses don't have any time to spend wondering about your choice of clothes. Insurance companies alow only 10 minutes per patient with 5 minutes between. So a physician is expected to see 4 patients per hour.

Do we even think about what color your panties are? Nope. It's just, "Take off your clothes, put on this paper thingy, and hop up on the table."

I guess I'm to old to get beyond my self consciousness. For any doctor appointment I consider what clothing I might have to remove and prepare accordingly. If all goes well I only see my GP once a year for the annual physical. He has been our family doc for over thirty years and I see him in the super market occasionally so I'm not interested in surprising him with lacy underwear. My normally shinny toe nails are also dulled down for the visit and I'll usually grow back a bit of underarm hair just for plausible deniability. The oncologist appointment (I've known him for 29 years)earns a bit more underarm hair because I know I'll get felt up in that area. I wish I was as open as you girls but I just don't have it in me to get beyond my secret dressing.

Today I went to the doctor wearing a Hawaiian shirt, denim skirt, and sandals. I had clear nail polish on my fingernails and black nail polish on my toenails, and I have my legs, arms, and chest shaved. I had rouge and lipstick on. I have a natural bust line.

My underpants are men's Hanes briefs that I wear all the time. I have Hanes Her Way panties but I hardly ever wear them. So I don't wear panties to doctor's appointments.

Nobody gave me any strange looks and I was sir'ed while I was there, which is quite OK for me. For me it doesn't matter if I get sir'ed or ma'am'ed at all.

Health professionals have seen it all; don't worry what you wear when you visit a doctor's office.

I am going to have a physical next month; the last thing I want is for the suggestion to have breast reduction, of which I would naturally have to decline. If that were to be brought up I might say if I had the money I would want breast augmentation instead!

I don't want a record of coming into the doctor's office with a masculine presentation - if I ever work up the nerve to ask for estrogen treatment it would be a lot more creditable if I have a record of having a feminine presentation.

Several years ago, I went to my GP, male mode except for my purse, the purse COULD pass for a man bag, but it was'nt. When Rita, my GP's nurse saw me, she said in a shocked voice " Marshall, don't tell me you carry a purse ? ", I said " yes, but, actually its a man bag " (yea right):D, she said " You need to loose that thing ", since then, I have only gone to my GP in 100% male mode. On a different note, about one year ago, I injured my back at work, and had to be taken via ambulance to the hospital, while they were getting ready to take me into X-ray, they said they wanted to cut my work shirt off, I told them " Your going to have to cut off more than that ":o, they just kind of looked at me puzzled, took the cutters to my work shirt, at which point, the two tech's that were in the room just kind of grinned and nodded when they saw I was wearing a bra:raisedeyebrow:, they didn't say a thing, just took the cutters to the straps, and into X-ray I went, nothing was ever said.

OK, I had a follow-up appointment with my Primary today, and decided, " what the hell " I went in wearing a white mans shirt, a denim below knee skirt, red leather purse and sandles, my physician was completely indifferent, his nurse Rita, the one I thought was not going to take it well, she asked why I was dressed that way, I said point blank "I am transgendered" she got a great big smile, came over to me and gave me a hug, and said " It's been a long time since I have seen you smile, It's about time ". You just never know...

What is this ridiculous obsession with doctors?

Doesn't anyone just want to be healthy?

I don't have a "my doctor" and never will. Some of us "tinfoil hat wearing people" have learned how to avoid them forever. If you know how to be strong and healthy, you don't NEED a damn drug pushing sawbones.

Is is just because there is one more person you can push your lifestyle over on?

I just don't get it.

I am not a big supporter of going to doctor appointments wearing female underwear. Let me explain why.
First of all, I would ask..."Why do you want to involve your doctor/nurse in your desire to wear feminine underclothes?" is it for "shock" value? Or do you just have a desire to be seen by someone? Anyone? Your doctor is someone whom you see only on the occasion that your have some medical issue. In most all cases, they are not freinds of yours. I just dont understand why one would want to possibly cause emmbarrasment on their part. have you considered that they might feel uncomfortable when you "spring" this little surprise on them? Why subject them to this just to get your own thrill from being seen by them?
Now, saying that, it may be different if your are going through a transition, and your doctor is aware of this. Then it may be acceptable. I "underdress" often, but I dont feel the need to show anyone if it is just for my own personal satisfaction of being seen in my feminine underwear. Especially if it is someone I am not personally involved with.
I think it is very important that we consider the doctor/nurses feelings before deciding to go in wearing female underwear.
I also dont really feel it is right for one to go out in public as an obvious male wearing womens clothing. I think if one wants to go out in feminine clothing, then go out and present yourself as a female, even if you dont "pass" well, at least you are trying to look like a woman. Again I will say...This is because you should consider the other people around you.
I know we all want to be accepted as crossdressers. But to go out fully dressed and obviously showing that you are a male, (facial hair, etc.) is not going to help us gain acceptance.
I know many here will dissagree with me. I would like to hear your responses. For? or against............

Do you wear panties to your doctor visits? Do you wear nail polish on you toe nails when you visit the doctor or remove it. I remove my toe nail polish and don't wear panties. Should I care?:o

I prefer not to go commando - especially when I am going to the doctor's so yes, I wear my panties.

As for the toenails, it depends on whether I am having a day without polish, but I neither paint nor strip them specially for my doctor. Anyway as she is the one helping me with my transition, it would be a bit daft to pretend.

Michelle123,
I generally agree with you about the doctor part. As for how we dress in public, I think that is up to each one here to decide. Some here may not wish to pass and portray themselves as a female. Many have mentioned that women can wear men's clothes but when they do they don't try to pass as males. Sure they have more acceptance now than us but that wasn't always the case. I personally only go out dressed when I am madeup and appearring as close to female as I can with my limitations. If you think back to when Goth first started. They drew much attention, now not so much. Although it isn't my cup of tea, if some here dress in say a skirt and blouse but have a beard that may ultimately make my behavior more acceptable to our society. To each his/her own. As for shocking the doc, I don't see the point, plus usually the poor nurse get put on the spot more often. Dr office for me is all business! If you are transitioning then your doc know about it already or certainly it is time to tell them. They need to know about all meds you are taking.

2speed,
Glad to hear you are perfectly healthy and I hope you stay that way but modern medicine has helped you get there. The fact that many of us have had vacines, lowers your risk of getting those illnesses. Now I know you haven' given into any of those drugs but you outa thank some of us who have. Best of health to you and I hope you are thankful for every doctor free day you have. Who know when you may need a stitch or two (oh that is right you will just tape the finger back on). As for me, I am a bit envious of you since I have had the need for medical aid on a few occasions. That hernia and appendics just would heal even when I did everything to be "strong and healthy". My bad!!

Michelle, we may be in the minority, but I agree completely with your comments!

Michelle,

You have really struck a nerve with me and I am very upset with your response. There are many of us here that do not attempt to present as female. We wear women's clothing because we like the wide range of styles and we have no desire to present as a woman. I say more power to those folks that desire to present as a woman, but I and many others here on this board are not one of them!!! I happen to wear women's clothing as part of my normal presentation when I am not at my job. In other words, when I don't go to work, I wear female clothing, shoes, etc...

Why should I consider the doctor/nurses feelings about me wearing women's clothing? I think that you really mean to say that I should consider "the doctor/nurses prejudices and bigotry" regarding anyone that doesn't present 100 percent male. If that is the case, then absolutely no! We cannot make progress by hiding in the closet so that we don't upset bigots. By your logic, when a woman goes to the doctor, she should ensure that she is not wearing any male clothing.

Also, you are wrong about another point. Males wearing obviously feminine items like skirts in male mode is a good way to advance acceptance. Women wear men's clothing all of the time without trying to present as a man.

I dont know if you should care or not, completely up to you. Worst case scenario, you take off the polish and dont wear panties for a couple hours.

My dresser drawer contains only women's panties and socks, and I wear them every day. My toenails are always polished, and I have several other "tells" of my gender status on my body. I don't hide any of this from my doctor, nor go out of my way to dig out an old pair of men's undies just for my appointments, and I think she appreciates the honesty and comfort with her that this represents. In no way am I putting on a show or trying to "involve" my medical professionals in any way with my gender issues; I would be doing that more if I switched over to male briefs and soaked off the nail polish two days a year for my appointments.

I wear panties 24/7. So far my family doctor hasn't had me take my pants off. If he does, he'll see whatever pair I'm wearing that day. I did have to go to the emergancy room one day. I was wearing a pair of panties that day too. After spending most of my day in a hospital gown, most everyone in the emergancy room had to know that I had panties on that day.

Now lately, I've had my toes painted 24/7 too. It's only a matter of time before the doc sees them. I'm not planing on removing the polish before I go that day which reminds me that I need to schedule an appointment.
