That would have been the time two of us drove from Indianapolis to Nashville TN for a IFGE convention. The person I went with would wait until her tank was at near empty before looking for a place to get gas.

At the time, a few years back I took a trip, it was 14 hours, it was from Fort Macleod Alberta to Peace River Alberta, the vehicle was a VW Bug. Went down for a convention in drab and decided to return enfeme. This was before my decision to make the biggest decision of my life which was to go ahead with my TG hopes, ready to suffer the consequences. (Oh my naive youth)

The majority of a 1200 trip back to Denver from the midwest in 24' U-Haul full of antiques and artwork. Hey, you have to do something to stay awake, right?

Actually, I flew back and did the same drill for the second time...a few days later.

Just have to be careful at "rest stops/gas refills". They are a haven for the more interesting characters in life...lol

have funnnnn!

from Anaheim, CA to home, it took two days because I had to find a unmanned 24 hour gas stations and a couple road side stops that had a ladies room and no one at the rest stop. One of them, I was lucky. No one there, go in take care of business, wash up quick and get out. Head for the car only to find someone had pulled up next to mine. Had to walk around the far end or the rest area until they packed and left.

Rest of trip was uneventful, except when a trucker would pass then get on the CB! I carried a small hand held to see what if anything was said. (I was wearing a rather short skirt with a fairly tight red sweater and bronze colored nylons.)

I'm nowhere near you girls in long distance drives. I did once drive from Georgetown, Texas to Arlington, Texas and back en femme. The total time was almost 6 hours mainly due to being caught in Dallas rush hour traffic.

Last month, March. I drove from Detroit to Harrisburg Pa. And back for the Keystone conference. It's an eight hour drive, 483 miles one way. Not one piece of male clothes, with me. Made three stops for bathroom breaks, lunch and fuel. No odd looks from anyone.

Back in December we did a multi-day trip from Los Angeles to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Even spent a day with a real estate agent looking at homes.

The detailed story is here in the archives, Texas Road Trip (click here) (http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?145202-Texas-Road-Trip!&highlight=coffee).

I have a recent fun one to post if I can ever get around to writing it up, kinda wilder than anything I've done before.

Over February Vacation I drove From VA to TN in a dress, forms, and all the under garb. No wig or makup. About a 6 hour drive.

Then coming home I drove 1000 miles. 15 hours, I was dressed in womens jeans and a womens sweater. But it really could have passed for mens clothes. So I don't think that counts.

Mine was from Winnipeg, Canada to Dallas, Texas, it was the most interesting trip, I was traveling alone since I went for a quick hello to my then girlfriend, of course, I had to change when I went thru immigration, other then that, everything went smooth, no problems using ladies rooms, gas, etc.

Georgia to California! But, in the days of full service gas stations. One attendant kept looking at me, but didn’t say anything. I did fall asleep at a rest stop only to wakeup when the state police came by to check on my car. Hope they liked my bright flowery dress. Did it as a nonstop drive. Had a cute blond wig in beehive. Truckers loved my legs, nylons and lace slip showing just the right amount.

Had to take the new Jeep on a shake down cruise,it was fun, just me and my one eyed pitbull named Teddy Bear,we both made a lot of friends, and every one loved Teddy Bear, the Jeep was brand new and stock right from the dealer,I don't think the salesman would recognize it now.

You gotta understand, Niya, for 4-wheelers (and probably for bikers) that IS a drive! An expedition or exploring would be doing the same trip off-road!

Right now I'm contemplating two drives for next year. One would be to Yellowknife in the Norwest Territory of Canada and then over to Inuvik, which is above the Arctic Circle, and the other would be from Adelaide to Darwin, Australia, with stops in Coober-Pedy and Alice Springs with maybe a side trip to Ayers Rock.

Hugs,

Persephone, when I was in Viet Nam I served with an Aussie SAS unit for 9 months, they sent us to a SAS training base somewhere near Alice Springs,I'm really not sure how close to Alice Springs it was, they told us the closest town was Alice Springs.

They took us into the base in the dark on C-130's,and after we finished our 4 months of crazy training, they flew us out in the dark by C-130's,I was proud to serve with them, all of them were excellent soldiers.

My Jeep trip to Anchorage was really something, was a lot of fun,but gas was cheap back then,Teddy Bear passed away in 1996 of old age,I never replaced him,he was one of a kind, but I still have the Jeep,we been together for 28 years in August, and it has 192,000 miles on it,had to replace the original engine 10 years ago,and last summer had everything from the flywheel back to the rear driveshaft completely overhauled, maybe I'll get another 192,000 out of it.

I recently drove to Vegas also for about 7 1/2 hours. Then I also did it coming back. The highlight was stopping towards the end of the trip and buying cigarettes for my wife (yes I try and get her to quit). The cashier asked for my ID and when I flipped it out, she looked. And then her brow furrowed. So I said, yes that is me. Then her jaw fell a little, then she looked at me, then my ID again, and then checked me out (no my purchases). Didn't mean to shut her down. :heehee:

It is great that you still have the Jeep. Our older one was stolen, then we had a Grand Cherokee, and now we have a JK. Still need to do some aftermarket stuff on it.

We did the trip to Anchorage in the 1970's but I wasn't en femme on that trip. It was long before they paved the Alcan, so we did 1300 miles of gravel in a Chinook class-C motohome on a Dodge van chassis. We created a rock screen out of an old bedframe covered in mesh and bolted to the front bumper. Then we flew up to Kotzebue, above the Arctic Circle. It was an awesome trip!

That little Jeeps been good to me,but the miles make it need some work,so hopefully this summer I'll get the rear and front differentials rebuilt, and have Moser 1 piece rear axels installed, just had a Webber 2 barrel carb installed on it,the Carter carb was 8 years old,the original Carter carb was 20 years old when I had it replaced,it was so worn out the mechanic was surprised the jeep even ran.

New spare tire cover,my wife said my Jeep needed it.

We're not going to be too popular around here if shanghai this thread and get into too much mechanical detail, but I do like your tire cover!

About a year ago when I was out on my morning run I came across this slogan on a Jeep:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/sandylewiscares/JeepHusband.jpg

I don't know if you can read it at this size, but it says "THIS IS NOT MY HUSBAND'S JEEP." Gotta love it!

2 1/2 hours is my record, but an hour is about the max normally.

I was quite surprised how many folks at Keystone last month drove back and forth en femme. I drove back and forth en drab, I have been doing this for so many years and it is still something I am uneasy about (the long drives, was 4 1/2 hours for me). I could do it if I absolutely had to, but I am still uneasy about it. I'd also rather not have my neighbors see me dressed.

After my one close call when 'driving dressed', I didn't dare go out again for quite a while. My last drive was carefully planned, so that I would only have to get out of the car for gas at a self serve island, and I managed to pick out rest stops where there wasn't anyone else present. I left the house at a little after 8 pm wearing t shirt and shorts, and changed in the car. I came home at 5 am, still 'dressed', so to avoid anyone seeing me getting out of the car (I have my own parking behind the house). So, about 8 hours? I drove wearing sneakers and knee socks, a plaid skirt, white top and cardigan sweater, long brunette wig. I kept pretty much to the interstates, other than to get food at the drive throughs; a few funny looks when paying for my food, but nothing came of it.

Most recently this summer, just over 4 hours from Toronto to Ottawa for a rally/march in support of a Transgendered Rights Bill on Parliament Hill. Event took a couple of hours and after early supper with friends, drove back to Toronto that evening. So close to 9 hours for that day.

Did Provincetown to Toronto after Fantasia Fair about eight years ago, that was about 11 hours of driving. My first trip through customs.

I try to do a one-week road trip each September, but haven't for the past two years due to the economy. Last long drives enfemme were the entire Blue Ridge Parkway (about 470 miles), and two lane roads all the way from Detroit to Provincetown, Cape Cod. I'm planning a drive this September, either Detroit to New Orleans or Detroit to New England. I like the two lane roads - quieter and more scenic. Only had a problem once at a rest area where I changed in the Ladies room and came out in male mode, caught by the attendant who had some words for me! Better to stay dressed!

My longest drive didn't cover much territory and didn't last very long. It was when I ended up sitting in stop-and-go traffic on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago for an hour one warm, summer afternoon, seemed to last forever, but I only covered a few miles.

After going on a Dignity cruise this past fall, my wife and I drove from New Orleans home to NE Ohio. We took 2 days, driving time was a bit over 16 hours, not counting a couple stops for shopping at outlet malls along the way. I was en femme the entire way with not a single problem.

Yeah Teddy Bear was a good close friend and family member,he was raised with another dog,2 cats, and a ferret named Hogan,I'm a believer a dog is like a human child, but with 4 feet, they have no thumbs, and can't use the toilet,he was affection raised, attention raised,he was never allowed to behave aggressively towards the others.
all of them recieved equal attention, equal affection,it was cute watching them all share a scoop of vanila ice cream, and watching all of them sleep on the huge dog bed was the ultimate, but sometiems the cats would sleep in the bed,as did the ferret, his favorite sleeping place was right next to me.

I'd love to have another Pit,but that breed has gotten a bumb rap because of stupid owners who have no idea how to treat a dog,or properly raise them, people like that should be neutered so they can never contaminate the human gene pool with their offspring, because their offspring will turn out like them.

We haven't had a dog in a long time, but we did have a gerbil before we moved to California (they are illegal here). He used to sit on my shoulder and nibble ice cream off of the long moustache I had at the time, until one day he slipped and fell into the bowl. I think he figured that he'd died and gone to heaven! After that it was difficult to keep him from leaping into the bowl everytime we had ice cream.

Uh, yeah! Now you know why the GG's don't do that!

You want to find out what worse is? Try shapewear and tucked on a plane flight! Your body swells, or tries to swell, when the atmospheric pressure drops. I made that mistake once -- with a tight-laced corset.

Victorian women were probably really glad that they hadn't invented commercial air flight yet!

Persephone, please don't take this wrong, but when I returned from Viet Nam in 1970,I never recieved a welcome home,I was greeted by war protestors, who threw garbage on me,and screamed in my face that I was a cold blooded murder,a baby killer, when in fact they had absolutely no idea what I changed into.

When I got home,my dad could only say,he was looking forward to recieving the life insurance payoff,he didn't expect me to make it.

Viet Nam was my first war,Sierra Leone was my last,I worked for Executive Outcomes,a private military contractor,I can't say what I did,but we made the RUF go to the negotiatins table, and thanks to the UN and Bill Clinton, the Sierra Leone government canceled our contract, and threw us out of the country, then the RUF went right back to what made us go there in the first place.

If you followed anything that went on there, you understand why we did what we had to do.

Thanks for your thanks, but 41 years down the road, thanks no longer have any meaning to me,but I hear you.

Central NJ to West Lafayette IN 3 round trips, 750 miles each way, took about 12 hours with multiple quick stops, not worrying too much about the crowd at the rest stop. Backfired on me one day, as 2 busloads of women poured into the bathroom whilst I was on the john. I literally had to push my way out. Central NJ to Columbus Ohio, 500 miles in about 8 hours too many times to count (At least 20)...

ANY trip I take over 2 hours is under serious consideration for dressing. I've become an expert at changing, even while in motion.
