Ok, there is a lot of talk about what care is like there. Of course this is for good reasons!! Anyway, I wanted to give you folks a link to watch. This is a promo-vid for one the two hotels that Dr. Chettawut asks his patients to stay in, after they leave his clinic (most of his surgeries are done in, and you stay in, his own small clinic/hospital). Now since it is an "ad", it has that flavor. Still, you get the idea of the level of care by seeing that the hotel and the clinic are linked in their efforts to make life easier while you recover. Please note, clinic nurses visit daily, for as long as you there. I believe the current rate is about $54 a day.

Other Thai docs have similar setups.

I plan on going to Thailand eventually for my surgery. Sure, making travels plans for so far away is difficult, scary and expensive. But Thailand is also one of the friendliest countries on the planet ( I have friends who live there, as well as others who've traveled there). The woman who made this vid also made a great guide to most everything you might need to know about living there for 30 days. It's 32 pages long, detailed and appears very-very useful ! It is called "Bambi's Guide", I think the western woman you see in this vid is Bambi (former patient of Dr. Chettawut's).

p.s. Bambi's guide is specific to Dr. Chettawut's care, but it can surely help to understand a lot of issues with travel and stay in Thailand.

So how does one get a copy of "Bambi's Guide?"

I have met her. Shes a very nice woman.

Another friend insisted that if I decide on SRS, its a better choice to go to Chetawat than Melbourne, Aust. The after care is so much better she believes.

I also have spoken to Bambi on the phone, she helped me with a lot of my initial questions before I found my local
support group, she was one of the reasons I was going to move to Brisbane to start my transitioning before I also
found help through my local sexual health clinic. As for surgeons, I have decided I want to go through Dr Suporn
because I think his techniques are better & achieves a better result. But Dr. Chettawut would be my next choice.
A former house-mate had her SRS Dr. Chettawut, however another girl I know has just came back from having surgery
with Dr Suporn & is now 9 weeks post-op. So I will catch up with her next weekend to hear how it all went for her.

I haven't started to seriously look into surgeons... I am still at least a few years away from that. Maybe. But I am relatively sure I will go to Thailand when the time comes. The care is at least as good as that in the US, and the cost is significantly lower... Why would I go anywhere else spend more, and have to fight with the horrid American medical system? Hrm - dealing with the state department to get a visa, or a bunch of medical billing agencies trying to get a strait answer? State department EVERY time.

Besides, I hear they have AWESOME Thai food there...

A 30 day visa is easy to get when you get there. If you want/need to stay longer there is a 60 day version that is not hard either, but you do have to arrange it prior to leaving (or face higher cost).

Seeing the video makes me realize that I want to visit Thailand sometime in the future.

Exactly...

An easy to get visa, OR fight with medical industrial complex? Visa please!
