I didn't, but it was one of my ancestor's names, so it keeps it in the family at least...LOL

We identified Tina's existence together, so it only made sense to name her together. Besides, I certainly didn't want a name that my wife disliked. I sent her a list of names that were ok with me and she picked one :)

My ex suggested this name after I showed her pics, post divorce. I liked it to as it seemed fitting versus my orginal name.

Mine is, its a personal joke. It might also be a subconcious neon sign saying here I am. It is also one of my favorite names too.

I grew up hearing "You were suppose to be a girl!," since my brother was first born. I decided I should take the feminine name of the male name they gave me. My mother has always been anti-gay, bigoted, etc, so it's kind of a slap in her face. Maybe, that's why I developed into a cross dresser???

I have not yet come up with one, and I am not sure if I want to at this point. My wife is still a little uncomfortable, and this is all new to her, so I don't want her to think I am taking it too far. I have come up with 2 ideas...one rearranges the letters in my male name, the other is what I think I remember I was told my name would have been if I was born a GG. Hmmmmm?

I stuck with the same initials but got away from the male forenames (Robert John changed to Rianna Joyce)

Wynonna is the Native American name for the first born daughter. See'n as how I'm part Apachie and the oldest of my siblings, it just seemed right.

My female name just came to me when I need to create some forum profiles and email accounts on the web. Inmediately it felt right for me, and have used it ever since. I had thought of using the name my parents would have given me if I had been born biologicaly female. That name was "Patricia", which also happens to be my wife's name, so that would have been an unappopiate name, specialy given her complete lack of acceptance of me as a CD.
Incidentally, the double "t" in "Kattie" arose from the fact that "Katie Philips" was already taken in yahoo mail. I am perhaps too old to be a "Katie" but don't really see myself as a "Catherine", I much prefer "Kathryn" and When I get older I will probably use it. I hope by then, I can spend much more time as a woman and meet other people in person as "Kathryn".

My first name is Bill (William), so that turned into Billie and I liked the the Micheal Jackson song Billie Jean so I took that. My middle name is Thomas and I almost went with Tomi. But it just didn't fit me. Billie Jean

I chose my name after something my Father said that if I had been a girl I would have been called Darlene, and both Dad and Mom know about their daughter now.
Detroit Molly
05-11-2011, 06:59 PM
I went with Molly because it's one of my favorite girl names, and it's the name of one of my favorite fictional characters: Molly Millions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Millions)

Go with something that feels good to you- look through a book or website of female baby names ( most common place to find lists of names ). Some people go with a name that has personal meaning to them ( like someone they knew ).

I picked mine based on the meaning "to tie" like tying together 2 personalities....and because I love how it sounds :>)
I found the task of picking a name rather daunting. I finally settled on something practical and fairly uncommon that referred to my distant heritage.

I decided to use the feminine version of my male name. For some time I thought I'd go by Johanna (which I've always thought was a sexy name) but Jamie is MY name and my femme side is still part of me, not a pseudonym.
RenneB

Just like the comfy clothes that I wear as Renne. I just closed my eyes and the name came to me. The initials are the same as my non-fem name and I suppose that someday I'll have to sign my name as Renne B so that's where I started....

"Kathie" is in honor of a long past friend who had a very intense influence on me as a youth. She was a "princess" loved and respected by all. If I could only be a little bit of the person she was.

I like Eve because I used what was once male and now evolved into female.

I kept my initials but thats it. the name is my initial, but other than that, I just like it. The B. stands for Betterman, it's from a line in Tootise Michal Doresy said " I was a better man as a woman, than I ever was as a man." I loved that line, so I took Betterman for a last name.

I am no politician (I can barely spell it, lol), but I do recognize an opportunity when I see one... I would enlist the help of your wife, and then use whatever name she suggests. :heehee:
The origin of my "name" is pretty obvious I guess. It was a 5 second decision that seemed to be applicable in just about everyplace in life for me.
Of course I never use it online or in public when I am requested to fill in my personal information for no logical reason. I always do the right thing in those instances...I just give them a business card.
I said "a business card", not MY business card. I just give them one I have collected off some other store counter...:D Everybody is happy...:heehee:

I honestly feel like that my name chose me, not the other way around. I thought about names for years, until one day I considered Vanessa. I didnt even have to think it over, it just felt so natural to me.

My mother told me that she had expected a girl and had picked out the name, Lynn. She hadn't even considered a boy's name until after I was born. Finally, I was named Richard Lynn. I started dressing very early in my life. When I got older and wanted to pick a name, I chose Lynn Richards. I suppose, in a way, the name was given to me at birth.

05-12-2011, 02:51 AM
I picked my name in an immensely stupid way but I really enjoy it. My male first name is Daniel so at least some of the letters are the same. I tried others to find what fit until the I came across Delila and it felt like it fit. Whatever you chose for yourself is what you should feel. Welcome Billie Jean! :)

I never liked my real name; but I'm kind of stuck with it until my mom passes away (makes all the legal things easier). If I had chosen my own name, it would have been Alexander; so I took a female version of that. OTOH, you should think for a while, and pick something that you would like someone to call you, I can only suggest something that reminds you of someone pretty, so when you think of yourself, that's the image you already have in your mind. My example; every woman I've known named Lisa was young, pretty, attractive, very feminine. Every Bertha I've known was old and fat (not that all Bertha's are, mind you, but all the ones that I knew were). I think you get my drift.

I've posted this many times. But here gos again. I wanted something orgianal, something I can call my own. So I took my male name David, and shortened it. I play the violin, so I added violin to it. And wa-la Daviolin was born. A lot of people struggle with the pronuonseation of it. I will try and break it down. Dav-a-lin. all short vowels. Daviolin

Don't ware your brain out trying to decide. One day it will just be there. Choose mine after a girl at our local bank who is a great looker and friendly as all get out. Changed the spelling a little to spice it up. Added the 64 because of the age thing.

Personally I don't like converting a male name to a female name. It's my quirk. When I'm me I'm not him at all and I like it that way. I needed my independence and my name choice helped in that regard.

I like to thank you "satin n lace". Thanks to your thread y have decided to adopt my full name instead of a version of one of its standard nicknames. I have changed my profile name and created new yahoo/flickr/youtube accounts. I am so happy with the change it feels so much better for me.
I think when you find yours, that day will become a milestone in your CD life. If you are one of those CDs who feels a part of you is female, giving her a name, changes everything.

I share Cheryl's dislike for feminising one's male name. In my case my female name is very different from the one given by my parents, both phonetically and how its spelled.

Hi Satin n Lace
My feminine name starts with the same letter as my given name, but when I chose the name that wasn’t a high priority. I thought of changing the “s” at the end of my first name to an “e”, which would change the name from a masculine name to a feminine name, but I wanted a feminie name completely separate from my given name. I started with Barbara but a typo made it Barbra and it seemed like more trouble than it was worth to try and change it – I now like the spelling of Barbra and I like my nickname, Babs, and that is what I like to be addressed by my friends.
