So yesterday I went to get my hair cut. As I was sitting in the chair I saw a girl walk out of the break room and she tells one of the other stylists she got her passport photo. As she was speaking I cought a ever so slight tinge up my spine. It was enough to get me to pay attention as I was sitting there but I didnt let anyone know I was listening to her.

A few minnutes later the phone rings and her co-work takes a call for an appointment for her and he says "he is available now". Immediately she tells him "she". At that moment I was containing a huge smile.

A few minutes later her client comes in and she has to tell him the story since the client knew a boy and now shes a girl. In any case I herd her use her old name and thats when I had to contain laughing. The reason was that she was a boy that I had seen there before but I had no idea that she was that guy. In any case I contained myself and never said a word to her.

Even for me it is a shock because I knew the boy before and now I see the girl. Talk about a mild screw. I am sure she will do just fine since she had a very nice presentation and carried herself quite well.

That has happened to me a few times. On one side I am so happy for her while on the other hand I am so jealous at how well she presents. Typical me, never satisfied.

Re confirms my contention, if the world got any smaller, we'd be standing on each others painted toes

Kate, that could have been me as I have been going to the same spa before I transitioned and they made the leap with me. It is so sweet and yes there is this learning curve for them as well. I have seen simular situations and yes the smile does come to bear. I am glad you were there and it went well.

Now Allie, girl you are one very fine looking lady so don't be envious. Just look into the mirror and the lady I met in SF will be looking back. FYI She is hot. Hugs both and best wishes. Teri

Yeah I bet the stylist was just thrilled that people keep screwing up and using her old name. I know hearing someone use my old name urks me.

Based on the fact that it was not too long ago that I saw the man I have a feeling she is going to have to just face the fact she will have some explaining to do since she did not change where she works.

blahh, she started as a male hairdresser, most people would assume he was gay beforehand. So presenting as a woman is not going to phase her clients. Pick a different industry thats male dominated and probably different.

This is such a close-to-home issue for me. I went to beauty school in guy mode, then worked in a couple of salons in guy mode to build my skill level. Then I started working as Tamara, dressed daily and haven't looked back, but, a couple of my old clients that knew me before have migrated from my previous salon to my new one. Now they tell stories about this guy hairstylist they used to know...

Most people that read me simply place me as gay, but no one has ever asked me a thing. I just work along smiling like an idiot. My wife just laughs and wants to hear my stories from the workday.

Tamara, I love your stories too. Please do share more of them.
