I was just wondering if anyone here is on this and what changes they've noticed? Especially mental/emotional/behavioral?

Yes I am on it. uuuuuuhhhhh same changes as any other anti androgen I assume but this is the only anti t I have ever taken so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Not me! I have plenty of sexual frustrations however it is very different than before starting Hormones.

I've been on Androcur for about 2 months and a very noticeable change in my "sexual frustration". I have no personal experience with comparing it to a different anti androgen. However, androcur is a different type of blocker and you should see quicker changes than with say spirolactone. If anyone wants more info let me know.

I started out on cypro, but it made me far too lethargic and foggy to function. It also made it harder to deal with depression. I am now on spiro. To be honest, I think the cypro did a better job in terms of its anti-T properties, but I just couldn't function...and what's the point of looking good if you can't enjoy it?

On spiro too, I'm on a relatively small dose. I see people on doses three times higher than mine and I wonder how they still have blood flow. Same thing again though, I had to make a trade-off between anti-androgen effect and life impact. ...and as I'm sure has been said many times here and elsewhere, the most attractive thing is a genuine smile.

a note on sexual frustration. I'm much less frustrated because I have much lower drive...which for me is a relief. I always felt deep conflict about sex. Now I can see much more clearly and have a much better connection with what intimacy is. I guess that (for me) is a combination of hormones in general, not just the anti-androgens. ...though I must admit I do blush around handsome guys now.

Same here, but I started taking Estradiol at the same time, so I am not sure what caused what.

I started Spiro when I started Estradiol. Probably about 6 months later I switched to Cypro. I haven't noticed any difference in how I feel. But I do feel like the Cypro does a better job of blocking the T. There was a time on Spiro where I couldn't take it for several days and noticed quickly that T was coming back. On Cypro I'm constantly missing days because I'm too forgetful but I don't notice any difference... I think by now I'm chemically castrated. I've been on HRT for a year.

My Androcur Reaction
I tried spiro twice a day, but had digesstion upset I could not bear.
I tried androcur, had the full suite of side-effects including depression.
Then I tried finasteride. Got scared when depression re-emerged.
Now am back on spiro, taking it twice a day on a substantial meal. I guess i was not taking it on a big enough meal. It is still iffy when it comesto digestion though.
I too get the feeling that Androcur is the powerful one for t-blocking, but my blood tests got a little confusing so it hard to back that up.
Finally I went back on spironolactone, and eventually got depressed again.
My experience can then be summarized as problematic.

The less agitation & sexual frustration is no doubt linked to having less testosterone.

Others I know have reported some issues with depression while on Androcur while personally I have had no such issues, so
Androcur can affect people differently. I understand that this is why some people take Spiro for an anti-androgen instead.

The two reasons I take Cypro instead of Spiro is because I take smaller amounts of Cypro (Easier on the liver... I could probably reduce my Cypro intake even more), and because Cypro blocks more forms of testosterone.

I think I read that Cypro can also lead to more complete chemical castration than Spiro... which is the reason I could probably reduce how much Cypro I take, where as Spiro, I think I would have to take the same amount every day until SRS.

Unfortunately, I'm in the US where Cypro isn't exactly allowed by the FDA, so I find other means to get it.

I take androcur. They suppress male hormone. Face is less oily. Dry skin. Can damage your liver if you take high dose.

Here is a quote from the British Columbia "Endocrine Therapy for Transgendered Adults in British Columbia (http://transhealth.vch.ca/resources/library/tcpdocs/guidelines-endocrine.pdf)":

Cyproterone acetate (Androcur®) is used by some transgender clinics as an alternative to spironolactone. 31,33,44,55 Cyproterone acetate inhibits the production of luteinizing hormone, is a 5α-reductase inhibitor, and interferes with the binding of testosterone at receptor sites. Possible adverse effects include liver enzyme elevation and depression,12 and for this reason we do not recommend it unless spironolactone cannot be tolerated.

To my doctor and me it didn't make much sense to increase the depression I was suffering from and increase the risk to the liver. But then again I tolerate Spironolactone extremely well. I have discussed the improvement of my physical and mental health with my physician and it is his view that the improvements are through a combination of an estrogen environment and suppression of testosteron. My hormone household has becomes female. I am in balance.

My doctor has me on a high dose of spiro and I have had no adverse effects. He increased my estradoil last appointment I had.
My blood levels are in the normal female range and I feel great!

I started out with Androcur and liked it, it did what it was suppose to do. Then I started seeing a doctor and she started me on Spiro, after a month or so I started to have a lot of leg cramps even though I was drinking tons of water. So I switched back to the Androcur and everthing went back to normal. If all goes well I will not need either.
