SOOO doing research. Just like I do before building/buying a computer.
NOT SURE IF I CAN GO THE SAME ROUTE...
But hey its worth looking around.
I was planning on going to thailand for this anyways...

But yeah It kinda seems to good to be true... To "feesable" in my eyes.
It just seems...
Maybe im just way to distrusting of people?
I mean this is my body were tlaking about and in that sense my happiness.
So really im just looking around seeing what a "poor" person like me can look foward too.
Im going to start calling places in NC and see where i can be directed for hormones and stuff, as well as breast agumentation but in my eyes the actual physical change is most important.
I dont know if i thinkt he same way. But Im a lot different in the sense i ahve anti social tendacies.
Im more critcal of the way i look and and im a fairly unsociable person.
I think im just thinking about this to hard.
But this sorta sounds to good to be true...

Anyone here can.. vouch for... tell me away...?

I know several women who have had Dr. Saran do their SRS and everyone I've talked to is extremely pleased with him, his staff, and most importantly, his work. He learned under the tutelage of Dr. Preecha and has been on his own for a few years now. I know I'm convinced. I'm flying out on 7/17 to have him do mine

Wow Pamela, Your day is coming up quick. I remember back a few years when you came out on MWB and told us you were going full time. Now look, Your moving along quite nicely. I am so happy for you. Hopefully my time of transition will go just as quick. Good luck on your surgery, woman.

I agree that is great news Pamela & if Dr Saran is someone that can help Myojine, then great!

My personal preference of surgeons in Thailand is Dr Suporn, but keep me posted on how things go
with Dr Saran because I will be looking for personal testimonies for a couple of TS/TG support websites
that I am now working on.

So I hope it goes well with your surgery Pamela & that Myojine can get herself over
to Thailand as well as soon as she sorts everything else out going on with her life.

Melody, There is a group on another forum of which I'm a member specifically regarding Thai surgeons and there is a lot of good information and feedback there. At least one of the women who helped me decide to go with Dr. Saran is also from Oz and she changed her plans to Dr. Saran after meeting him.

I've decided to stay in the service apartment rather than a hotel.....just in case. I to have heard many wonderful things about Dr. Saran. Is anyone going with you?

Jamie, I'm flying alone but will have a Thai companion while I'm over there plus an Aussie friend will be there for a while. I'll be staying in the service apt just a few days after then going to a hotel. We will no doubt be in the apts together for at least a few days. I've been chatting with another girl who will be there on the 14th so it sounds like Dr. Saran is getting busier. See you there soon and be ready to party.

It is something that i consider. My big fear about thailand is how do people deal with complications (if there are any) when they get back home? Especially if you just spent most everything you had on the initial surgery? There is always a risk of complications. One woman I know who went there (don't know what doctor) came back and had some complications and struggled to find a doctor in this state that would help her.

Is it just a risk that needs to be taken?

Any surgery carries risks and when your surgeon is on the other side of the world that's just 1 more thing to factor in. Personally, my GYN will be following me post-op so she will be able to address most problems that might come up. She insisted on weekly follow up appointments for 6 weeks after I return home.

Like with everything else, advance planning makes a huge difference. Talk to your GYN or the doctor following your HRT about post-op care before you go. That leaves 1 less thing to worry about when you get back.

Wow that price is amazing. Going to keep this in mind since price is such a HUGE issue for me.

Talk to your GYN or the doctor following your HRT about post-op care before you go.

Last month I brought up some health concerns that I worried might be related to HRT to the doctor I've been seeing (though really I am for all intents and purposes self medicating since I so far have told her what I need). It basically came down to well, I don't have insurance and I'm still alive so I must be alright and lets not worry about it and she left it at that. :-0 She is sympathetic to trans people however and will see them which gives her a big + mark, and I can at least say that I am seeing a doctor even though she is a GP, a little (or a lot) flaky and not very up on all the finer points of trans care. Its kinda like being in AA and having a sponsor you don't use just so people stop giving you crap for not having one and leave you alone about it.

ALL the endocrinologists in this state seem to be deathly afraid of trans people, they don't want trans people in their waiting rooms. I have not considered trying a GYN but it would probably be worth calling around at some point.

My gut feeling is that it is likely I would be SOL getting any competent post op care anywhere in this state and why I am leaning a lot towards Orchiectomy and trach shave, but for the next 18 to 24 months (or probably 36 months if I do want thailand surgery) it is all about trying to save money anyway and there is time to decide.

Arbon, if you do not mind me asking .... what state do you live in ? Try a hospital associated with a Uni Med school. Chances are really good you will find Endo's or GYN docs who will not have a problem treating you.

Idaho.

Most of the trans people I know either go to portland, seattle or denver if they are not seeing the same doctor I am currently seeing. But that adds so much more expense - Portland is the closest to me but still that is 13 hrs drive time. I do wonder about Salt Lake city though, lots closer and it seems like it should be big enough there should be some competent and open minded doctors there but I need to research that more.

SLC is more than just the Mormon's, or so I've been told. I'd check it out for sure !

As well, check out any medical schools that are near by. I think you'll find they are more open about treating TS folks than your local docs.

I see I never updated this thread. Dr. Saran is a very gifted surgeon as well as an amazing person. I personally was up and walking within hours of surgery and had absolutely NO pain post op. I've very satisfied with his work and that of Ying, his coordinator.

Count me as a huge Dr. Saran supporter.

I would most definitely consider him for SRS. Does anyone know what his FFS's reputation is like?
Thanks, Cara
