Well, it's been an unbelievable 5 months since i started HRT and I'm loving it. I have some really great development in the breasts and I get all excited just thinking about that old testosterone leaving and the new estrogen taking it's place.

i keep on thinking about SRS. There are a million things that would have to happen before i can move on but i can have fun thinking about clinics and doctors aand imagining who i would like to see.

it's a long way off but I truly my dream of being a woman will be fullfilled.

It's nice that you are progressing as you wish. You talked about physical changes, but have you noted any significant changes in your mental state, thought processes, etc.?

Hi Stacey,
I have been on HRT sense January and feel the same way. My breast are a bit more fluffy and sore, but I had small 38B already. As Eryn asked have you noticed any mental changes? I personally feel more calm and at peace with my self, not so high strung. Well that's probable not the best explanation or wording but I think you know what I mean! Pleasant dreams!

Best Wishes

I know I feel better about myself. Maybe it's because my body and mind are beginning to match.

It has been 10 months on hormones for me Stacey, so I am only that little bit further down the road from you,
but I know how you are feeling. I also realise now that I can finally achieve my dreams & yes I think about my
GRS/SRS, but it is mainly about how I am going to be able to afford it when the time comes. But I don't worry
too much because I am sure that a path to how I will take my final steps will reveal itself soon enough though.

If you are think that you are excited now with the results after just 5 months, wait until you are where I am &
you've been on hormones twice as long then you really see some changes. Apart from my arms & shoulders still
being fairly muscular & still carrying just a little extra baggage around the front. Everything else about my body
shape is now looking a lot more 'female'. Especially the breasts, hips, thighs & butt. So there is no need for any
extra padding or breast forms here :heehee: Some people who knew me as a male said there is a huge difference about
how I look now in the face while personally I can't see it which is normal, so I have to take their word on it.

But the most exciting thing that has changed about my body for me since I started taking hormones is the reversal
of male pattern baldness (MPB) that is also taking place. I had severe hair loss with a heavily receding hairline & only
a few hair follicles remaining on my forehead. But since starting hormones & through reducing the DHT levels in my body
I stopped the problem in it's tracks & since then there has been fairly good regrowth. The whole area now has fine hair
follicles regrowing all over it now, as well as there is a really noticeable increase in the longer & thicker hair that is there.

I am on Androcur for a Testosterone blocker, but have also been taking Finasteride (Dutasteride) to stop any further DHT
production from any remaining Testosterone. But getting my Testosterone levels right down had a lot of affect as well on
stopping the MPB because I was seeing results before I started taking Finasteride. DHT can't be produced if there is no more
Testosterone there. But taking Finasteride (Dutasteride) blocked the enzymes that produce the DHT by converting it from
Testosterone. So this was a two-pronged attack on my MPB that is now showing some very good results, so I am really happy.
At the rate my hair has been regrowing it should only be another year or so before I won't have to ever wear anymore wigs.
I have also growing my hair out for sometime, so by the time I have a good coverage it should be fairly long everywhere else.

Maybe I am confused, but I thought that these were two different meds. Finasteride is generic for Proscar and Dutasteride is generic for Avodart.

That is correct Nicki, however both drugs do the same type of thing, I just mentioned the alternative from
Finasteride that I am also in the process of swtiching over to. But they both block 5-alpha reductase, an
enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). However they say that Finasteride blocks
the Type II 5-alpha reductase but Dutasteride blocks both the Type I & Type II 5-alpha reductase enzymes.

i'm happy for you Stacey

I hope things continue to progress for you! Sometimes it's worth taking a step back and thinking about what you've accomplished...you are on the way, did you ever think you could say that?
