so many cross dressers are exhibitionists and why it plays such a big role in their CDing? I know it was a huge part of my young years but that went away a long time ago.

Just wondering :daydreaming:

Hmmmm, I could be completely wrong about this, but I would think that most CDers are in the closet, and are therefore not exhibitionists. I am certainly not an exhibitionist. And I would also think that out of most who go public, it is their desire to pass and blend in. Regardless, exhibitionism plays no role whatsoever in my crossdressing. But more power to those of you that feel the need to get out there and do your thing! :)

Kerrylee, when was the last time you saw a crossdressing exhibitionist? And I don't mean a guy that makes the news for jumping on an airliner in a bra & panties.
A draq queen is one thing, there's often an act involved. I can remember being about 11 years old and seeing a Mae West inpersonator in a casino in Atlantic City, NJ. But I've yet to run across these so-called exhibitionists you speak of. Sounds like things are a lot more exciting in Alberta than they are where I am.

Crossdressing to me is a way to relax and enjoy the softer side of life. I don't want to be seen unless it's by my wife. I would allow others to see me dress if I was with like minded folks.

Ok, maybe you are right and the post was not intended to offend. I would say though that a good number of individuals who have a flicker account or other tend to post pretty spicy pictures, not to mention those on Youtube who shall we say push the limits...

I'll go away now since every time I post here I seem to be thoroughly chastised.

Pitty Pot time for me.

Not really. Check facebook some time. There are a ton of narcissistic women out there with their boobage hanging out... So I don't think "we" are any different.

I didn't say we were any different did I, and what the heck are all the legs up to you know where about. BTW, I love short skirts too.

I wouldn't say that actually, I've noticed that most of the gurls on here dress relatively conservatively with minimalist makeup and hair. Of course, there's the drag segment of our population who are all about exhibitionism, but I'd like to mention a quote I saw in an article about CDing once: "If you were to go to a crossdresser convention you'd see much more Margaret Thatchers and just a handful of RuPauls."

I don't think you're being chastised or anything of the sort. You asked a question and people have expressed their opinion.

Kerrylee, I have a bit of an exhibitionist streak. In that I used to post a risque pic or two. I Certainly do like to dress sexy, but age appropriate and for the venue. I think for me personally I just wanted validation or Simone to say I looked good, while I was pushing the envelope. But that has past me by in recent years as I have become much more comfortable with who I am and the woman I try to be.

By the way, asking tough questions on this site can be kind of dangerous. I have found on tie site and others many are just to defensive and to sensitive to explore some topics. Or some are just scared of the idea of being asociated with anything that seems difficult to understand or percieved as embarresing. Ie anything to do with sex, sexuality, etc.... do a search of my posts and you will understand. So don't feel singled out. I have gotten beaten up pleanty on this site and I have no doubt that thatis not going to stop anytime soon. Be yourself and post what you want. Don't let others dictate weather you stay or go :) Just mu two cents.

Kerry, for goodness sake don’t go away!
OK. If it helps I can be a bit of an exhibitionist myself. You should see the pictures I am building up the courage to post!
Just keep posting and saying what you think. Don’t be put off by the incredibly politically correct.

I think that a lot of us put our pictures out there in the hope of getting back responses telling us how nice and pretty we look, as opposed to the reality of the harsh mirror on the back of the bedroom door. After all, we go through a lot of trouble to look like pretty women, so I suppose it would feel nice to be treated like one, at least a little bit. Of course, I'm terrified of being outed, and sadly at this point in my life the best I could hope for would be to appear as a frumpy out of shape, rather homely middle aged woman, so there's no point in me being exhibitionistic in any way.

Some folks who are exhibitionists may simply be looking for male attention and that is a way of getting it.

In some cases it may be a form of competition (exhibition in another context.) Males are naturally competitive, whether they are into something macho like martial arts, something more "nerdy" like playing chess or even wearing dresses (and I am not saying being competitive is in of itself a bad thing.) Some might post such pictures as a form of showing off or comparing themselves to others to see how good they look, or what they can successfully do dressed.

I think Kerry has a point.
Many CDers on this forum LOVE to go out in public. They stress the need to pass as their prime motivation(well, most of them do!).
These members must have exhibitionist tendencies that I don't have.
