View Full Version : And why would you think I would know that?

Ok.... I just had the weirdest phone call... From a consultant whom I have met maybe 4 times, mainly for lunches when he's here hawking his services....
Out of the blue..... Jim calls....
"Hey... It's Jim... How's it going? What size clothes does your CEO's executive secretary wear?"
What?
"We want to send her something"
Ahhh.... Probably a women's medium.... about a size 6
"Great, thanks... Want to go to lunch Tuesday?"
Sure.....
Wow... I'm still dumbfounded as to why he would think I would know what size the CEO's secretary wears? Is it that apparent? lol
Anyone ever have something that strange happen?

that is very strange but I certainly wouldn't read anything into it

Apparent? Maybe not but maybe he knows you as the detail person in the office, and that would be a compliment Karen. At least you didn't go into a slack rant with him. Then you might have brought up some issues that would be hard to mask in the office.

Pretty obvious, they want to curry favor with The Boss's Secretary and must have some clothes they got from somewhere. If they wanted to give her a Gift Certificate, they wouldn't be asking about size.
Your either The First Person he asked, or one of many. In A Situation like this, they will ask just about anyone but The Gals in The Office until they get The Answer. If they really want to keep it a secret from her, they won't be asking The Other Women, and it would probably also cause jealousy.
NOW, he may just wonder why you knew her size, with so little hesitation. So now you better "Macho-Up" and spend a lot of time bragging about what A Studly Hockey Player you are. Like The Hanson's, you can probably impress him by "putting on The Foil," and be sure and talk about your Days in The Iron League!

He probably called you because he knows you and felt comfortable asking you that question. Why the question? I would guess that he may want to give her some type of promotional clothing, maybe a shirt with the company logo, or maybe he overheard her one day talking with someone else or with him about wanting a specific item of clothing. You know that in the business office world the quickest way to the boss is through his secretary. Gifts always help.
You should give him your sizes and then tell him to give it to you and you will then give it to the secretary (maybe!).

Good question. Why would he go to you?
Let's see... Polished and shaped nails, long eyelashes, plucked eyebrows, pierced ears, feminized business suit, a desk that Paris Hilton could have decorated.......
Hmmmm.
Yep, ya got me.
I wonder if maybe he caught sight of the boob binder or a corsett string? Nope, I doubt that too.

07-15-2011, 02:05 PM
Lol. I am observant and into details. And maybe he picked up on that. I should of said. "well since I wear a size 10..... She should wear a 6"?

07-15-2011, 02:28 PM
Now if he asks you for what type of make she wears you might start to wounder . If he asks you about beard cover worry .

Karen you are doomed. He wanted to put the last remaining doubt about you out of his head. You should be worried about Tuesday too.
....or it's no big deal:)

Maybe I should bring a chaperon!! Lol

That kinda seems like an unprofessional request......unless it's something like a freebie, like a polo shirt with a logo or something.

Haha, I'm sorry but I haven't a clue why he thinks you have the answer to his question. But I just love the idea that he wants to buy her some lingerie ;)

Now tell HIM that he'd be a size 16, and would require size 14 in heels...

Keep that nail puller on your desk Karen...you may need it.

hmmm... is a size 6 the same as medium? I thought a size 6 is considered a small. On the other had that little discrepancy give you plausible deniability.

That is an unprofessional question, one I would refuse to answer for two reasons: it's personal info that rightly belongs to the secretary, and I'm not willing to participate in a situation that has at least the appearance of a conflict of interest.

You should have said - "Well I know for fact she wears a size 5 in underwear"

Let us know what the secretary gets! Maybe it will be an NHL hockey jersey!

Clothing is kind of personal coming as a gift from strangers. unless ,of course, they are in the clothing business but if you are into mining, what could they possibly want to send-- coveralls with a built-in fanny pack?

hiya Karren,
Check your BS control panel. Hidden agenda warning light should be flashing and the illogical behavior needle should be in the red zone, lol. No competent legal dept or HR dept. would allow an employee (Jim) to expose the company to this type of legal risk. But wait...is he an independent consultant? Uh oh. If he is...don’t panic...
first, push this button... www.dramabutton.com :)
A few possible explanations...
1) It could be an assassination attempt. He is planning to take out the exec sec on her way to work, then impersonate her, placing himself in close proximity to his target...the CEO.
2) He could have suffered some type of psychotic break and believes he is a wedding planner collecting sizes for bridesmaid dresses.
3) Maybe it was not “Jim” at all, but one of those sneaky HR managers using a voice changer, trying to see what employees will reveal about each other.
4) Maybe you are secretly being recorded and video taped by your company to be used as an example on the new employee training video they plan to use to convince employees to sign a “New Confidentiality Agreement”. lol
Whatever is going on...this Jim guy is up to something tricky. “The wheel is still spinning but the hamster is dead...” Did Jim ever mention anything about handcuffs at your other luncheon meetings? What about aluminum foil hats? Does he refer to himself in the third person when he talks? Is Jim originally from Nigeria? Did he ask you for a credit card number? :drink:
Well, the only thing I can confidently say that I am absolutely sure of is...
I have no idea what’s going on with him.:heehee:
Hope that helps! Give us an update!:hugs:

The guy who asked about the secretary's clothing might want to read a current thread here about talking about a coworker's appearance and possible sexual harassment claims :heehee:

Now if he asks you for what type of make she wears you might start to wounder . If he asks you about beard cover worry .If he asks about beard cover, I wouldn't worry; he's likely asking for himself.
The biggest problem I see is that when asked about her size, you answered him with something other than "I don't know". This could be surmised as anything from an inappropriate relationship to too great a familiarity with the subject and about anything in between. I was always very careful about who treated me to lunch and why when I was working for someone else. If someone made anything that could be interpreted as an inappropriate inquiry they got a stall from me and their questions forwarded upstairs. It was pretty obvious to me when I was being pumped; if they wanted info I could possibly lose a job over, they needed to bribe me with a great deal more than a free meal.

Well I hope when he comes to visit..... What ever he brings for the secretary, he gets me one too!! I used to feel guilty about taking free meals. Especially when we don't use their services. But now I feel it just the price you pay to have an entertaining lunch with me! :D

Hi,
Oh dear.e me , a normal ? for a guy to ask more so if your married. & most men have no idear of sizeing so when i was asked. i just said as close as to what i think her sizeing would be. or for men.
Did you guys not learn that from your mum.s. girl friends, sisters.
oh come on . i have to laugh at this one , i see nothing out of place. or may be i was brought up differently.
oh yes of cause i did sewing from 10 on so learnt a few things .sizeing & measureing

Well first off, I would have said, " Her favorite color is red". and as for size, it definitely would have been, my size.

Ya gotta love it! Has anyone else responded to a size question like this?
Sara Jessica
07-16-2011, 08:45 AM
I'll focus on your response. Guys think of clothes in terms of small, medium, large, etc. Most guys haven't a clue as to the "number" system so your response in saying size 6 was just as good as putting your TG-ness on the front page of the local paper ;).

Don't worry Karren. Come back when he asks you for your dress size and or phone number. :)

He probably asked you because of the time you hung your pantyhose up in the executive washroom.

Of course there is the possibility that he is (newly) intimate with the secretary and wants to buy her something nice for their next encounter..:tongueout
If so,I highly doubt you knowing her dress size will be part of their pillowtalk.. :heehee:

Maybe HE was observant and wanted to know how you would answer?
"I have no freaking idea" is probably the typical guy response. Your giving him an answer might have provided him with the answer to TWO questions. :)

I really don't know Karren. But it could be that he knows you dress and thought that because of that you would have an eye for such a thing. Or maybe he is suspicious and wants to confirm. If so, either way it's nothing to be worried about, although it is strange.

This was a test of the "are you a crossdresser" system. The non-crossdressers in your area in voluntary co-operation with state and federal authorities, have deleloped this test to determine if you are a crossdresser. If it's determined that you are a crossdresser, this test will be followed by invitations for drinks and a night out. This concludes this test...

Karren you shoulda said,"I wear a size ___, so she'd be about a size 6" -then who knows, maybe he'd get you one too.:)

Hey Karren,
Is there anymore to the story?
Did you do lunch on Tuesday?
and most importantly...
Why did he want to know the secretary's size?

Hey Karren,

Why did he want to know the secretary's size?
Yeah! Tuesday came and I had forgotten all about them coming till three of them showed up in the lobby and got an email from the receptionist. They were an hour early for lunch so we chatted in my office till lunch. They took me to a fancy restaurant where I had a small salad... Free food is good. Blowing my girlish figure isn't. The guy that called me also plays hockey so we had a lot in common. Well they had a meeting at 1:30 with our ceo and told me that if I got the size wrong they were going to tell his secretary who gave them the intel! So yesterday I saw her in the elevator and asked if the consultants had given her something and how it fit.... It was a jacket and it fit like a glove!! Yes yes yes!!! And they had told her who gave away the company secrets! Lol.
