View Full Version : The shoe breakthrough...

Well I made a breakthrough... and almost got outed ...

Today I drove out to the local TG shop (glamour botique) out in Los Angeles, California. I went there trying to deal with my shoes issue, i.e. can I fit in a size 15 womans shoe... critical because you can get most "casual" i.e. passable shoes in size 15 womens EE (wide). Shoes were the last thing that really made me concerned in my TS journey... if I would have to pay 300 dollars for a pair of shoes custom then I would be in trouble... and I find that it was one of my most challenging barriers in transistion.

The owner Daria, a MTF CD, possable TS, was there in a beautiful black blouse and jeans, all 6'3". What an inspiration, very passable and that tall... I felt right at home. To make a long story short she started seeing things in me that were distinctly female, like how I walked, sat, handled clothing, etc. We talked about intersex, Kallmanns, etc, and directed me to the local support group. She said that with my skin type, facial features, etc I would make a very pretty woman :c9:

Well I walked out with a beautiful pair of 3 inch sandles, pantyhose, some panties, and this really pretty vintage looking 3/4 sleeve shirt... looking for a nice long straight black dress for it now

Well I have never dressed all the way with shoes and everything. I was so "pretty", but more than that I looking in the mirror and said... this is who I am. I absolutly wanted to wear the outfit to work... oh well that would be interesting... ... then I almost got caught, walking around in heels my parents came home and I dove to my room, nearly getting caught  ... I snapped a quick photo and was out the door for work...

A few more things... I must be a woman... I HATE pantyhose... sure they look nice but they are a PITA, and not all that comfortable... plus I had to try on about 8 pairs of shoes at the shop... I wanted all of them... and this and that...

Here is a quick snap I took in my room... I will try and get a few better pics next time...

And I was so worried about shoes...

Shoes are cool. I own over 180 pairs :) True, true, true. There are 19 pairs in this office, and 4 pairs in the car... lol. Shoes are my passion. I'm pleased that you've found some you like :)

As for pantyhose the more you wear them the more you'll get used to them. I don't have any socks anymore... they feel weird and uncomfortable now so it's either nylons or nothing. Buy a decent brand to know what they should feel like... not all nylons are equal. A decent pair of Wolford's will help you to see the light.

Good to know you had fun... even with the scary heart thumping conclusion :)

Thanks again,

What was interested is I was so excited to get my first real pair of shoes I could not wait to get home and put them on... it really made me feel like the woman I see in me...!

Kind of like getting a new present on christmas morning... I wish I could share the joy

Ah, women's shoes! Sandals, pumps, mules, slings, and all the rest (except for sneakers and Birkenstocks, of course!). :)

I only have two pairs of shoes, one are very much "pornstar" heels, silver stappy things with a 6" clear acrylic stilleto heel and 1" clear base. I love them, but they aren't really that practical. And a pair of gorgeous silver heels. I'm constantly scouring to try and find some knee high leather boots that are affordable too!

It sounds like you had a wonderful time -- a big boost to your self-confidence. Plus you picked up a cute outfit to boot.

Just remember, there are GGs out there who are your size -- OK not many, but the WNBA is getting its players somewhere -- and they're not running around naked and barefoot.

So while it may take some hunting, there are retailers who will have things in your size. (For example, Zappos.com has a couple different dress pumps in size 15.) You'll just need to find stores that specialize in tall and/or plus sizes.

I HATE pantyhose... sure they look nice but they are a PITA, and not all that comfortable...

Well if it's any comfort, that's how most GGs regard pantyhose. ;)

I live in the bible belt so we don't have shops like that around here and I've been having trouble finding cute shoes in size 11 1/2. Where did you all find shoes at? I've checked most places and they either don't carry em that big or the ones they do have are just bleh!

My name is Karen and I am a shoe-a-holic. :) While I am not sure where to find ladies size 15s, I do know that many internet sites carry large shoes as well as Pic N Pay, Naturalizer, and a few other store fronts. You may not find any cute Nine West in your size, but a variety of styles, colors, and heel heights are available. Also remember not to overdue the heel height. At 5'11" I realize that I can not walk in anything over 4" unless it has a sturdy heel and more importantly I look stupid and therefore not passable.

Good luck shopping
Karen

In one way i guess I am very fortunate, in that I have very narrow feet for a man.
the narrowest mans shoe is way too wide, however a medium or double A width in a ladies shoe fits very good.
I too was very nervous buying my first few pair of ladies shoes, thinking that every one was looking at me and giving me funny looks, but i have since learned that it is my imagination.
In a mans shoe I take a 9 1/2 B which are unheard of unless special orderd at a very high cost.
depending on the make and last I can wear a ladies size 10 from payless, however if i go for a naturalizer i usually need a 11 1/2 medium or double A.
I am fortunate to have a shoe outlet store not far from where I live. They used to sell both mens and ladies shoes, but lately have got out of mens.

Kind of nervous one day when in there got chatting with the lady Manager, about shoes especially walking shoes. As soon as she saw my feet her immediate words, were Ladies shoes will fit you much better. During the conversation, she told me also that she has several men come in for ladies shoes, and also some ladies also need mens shoes because of the width.
As I did not have on light ladies socks or nylons, she invited me to come back any time when i might be wearing them and try on any shoes that i felt may fit. I have since bought at least 6 pair from there, and get treated very well. The assistant manager one day when we were chatting ( again a lady ) her comment was that if all a person had to do was look at the shoes one was wearing they did not have much to do.
Was looking for a couple of pair of ladies walking shoes. They had to call another store for them, and when she found out the colour asked me if it was ok. Guess the person at the other end heard me and said she was ordering ladies shoes. The immediate reply was that was right, the person has a very narrow foot and ladies shoes fit much better.

Getting men's shoes to fit my feet has always been a thorn in my side. Finally I just gave up, apart from one pair of mens' dress shoes, all of my footwear is womens. I take a US women's size 8....which is UK mens' size 6 1/2.

Nothing personally - but I hate you. I only wish I could wear a size 8 in a woman's shoe.

At school being small was a problem because people pick on you, but now it's a blessing :)

Payless is a very good place to look for regular women's shoes is larger sizes. I wear a size 12/12W and I bought most of my over 250 pairs or shoes from there. The staff there is incredible and understanding. I am able to try on the shoes before I buy them. You might also want to check ebay.

Love,
