Legally female!

YAY! My BF and I went to court today, met with the judge and we were legally our appropriate genders and had our names changed 10 minutes before our appointment was actually scheduled! Getting the certified copies of our court orders took longer than getting the court orders in the first place!

So now I am officially Brianna and, a GIRL!!! YAY!

Monday we are going to go to DPS to get our licenses fixed and the Social Security office, HR for his job, etc.

Congratulations Bree, now you can finally get some relief from carrying a man around in your purse,
so I am 100% positive that this will be a huge weight off your shoulders. Like others have said here
this first step is one of the most significant steps you will take towards affirming your real identity
and it also signifies the start of your RLE. So a year from now then you will be able to have GRS/SRS
if that is what you decide is right for you.

A friend of mine did her name change recently and said she didn't have to go to SS first... Maybe we'll go to SS office first.

My experience is different. The DMV required that the name and sex change be first done at the SSA because the DMV searches the SSA records for an EXACT match B4 they will issue a license in your new name and gender change. Both the SSA and the DMV requires a certified copy of the name change and a letter from the doctor specifically stating that I was now female.

I hope your process is not like mine.
