Hi all, I am finally starting on my hormone treatment after several weeks of frustration at having to take 3 extra blood tests because I have raised ALP. I was lucky it wasn't anything to do with my liver, I did abuse it when I was younger and was abit worried at first. I still have one more blood test to check my vitamin D levels but hopefully that will be OK. It has taken 2 and a half years to get to this point after first going to see my GP and I am more than half way through my 2 year RLE. I am just so relieved that I am finally on meds. :cheer: :yippee: :cheer:

Hi Carole, that is REALLY GOOD news! :bighug:

I can identify with the frustration about the waiting. It took me 48 weeks to my first appointment at the GIC

Do please keep us informed of how you are getting on.

I have just taken the first one and don't feel any different. I haven't magically transformed into a beautiful woman and I probably never will, no matter how many pills I take. I just hope that in time my body hair will be a lot easier to manage and I will not be read so easily. I am going to start exercising to get rid of some weight to help me look a bit more feminine. :)

Hi Carole,

it must really be a huge relief for you to know that you are finally on your way after
such a long wait, I don't know how I would have handled that after my bell went off.
So I really applaud your perseverance & patience with having to go through all that.
So well done & congratulations! :hugs:

Congratulations on making it through all that waiting! Your good nature and patience helped you through...

It will take time but if you lose a bit of weight and start moving some fat around from the hrt, there is s good chance you will see a more feminine shape.

OMG, what a cruel system. Making you wait for hormone therapy until you are well into your RLE seems almost Medieval. Good for you though for hanging in there. Congratulations.

I know that you don't feel much different, hon, but you will. Think back in 3 years or 5 years from now. I promise you will be smiling with pleasure.

I chose to start my RLE early because I didn't like living with 2 identities.

Thank you for all your replies, and sorry for not being on much lately.

I'm jealous XD

I've been wanting to get started, but I'm still having difficulty finding a way to get funds going. I'm really happy to hear things are really starting to move forward for you! c:

Congratulations :) im sure you'll start to notice things after a few months. Few weeks even, the pain seems to start quite quickly =} a good pain though. Well more tenderness really :)

I haven't magically transformed into a beautiful woman

I share that particular feeling, first time you take (or in my case apply) it and after everything to get to that point you think "Hmmmmmm. That seemed a tad anti climactic." XD

I'm sorry, Carole, I can't agree with you there. True beauty is not what you see on the outside.

I think that Lennon & McCartney hit the nail on the head when they wrote

"How does it feel to be
One of the beautiful people?
Now that you know who you are
What do you want to be?"

Excellent news.

I know how this all feels though to wait. It's what I'm doing. I'm waiting to see my psych again and then the endo. My blood should be ok, but no doubt they'll find something, lol. But even if there are problems, this doesn't stop them from prescribing the hormones, as there are other methods of taking them.

Thanks for the replies.
I have now been taking hormones for more than 2 weeks now and I have noticed one or changes already. My skin seems a lot clearer, the veins on my arms appear to be less visible than before and there is also a very slight tenderness in the area around my nipples. i was told it would be a while before there were amy changes but it would seem they are making a difference or it could be just wishful thinking. It will become cleare over the next few weeks if there really are some changes. :)

Carole...I have been on HRT for a grand total of six days today and like you I believe my face is far less oily and I haven't slept this well in years.

Carole that is so wonderful. Better living through chemistry, LOL. Keep the tissues close by.

One month update:

I have been on the hornmones for nearly 5 weeks now and my skin seems a little softer than before, it was never rough in the first place. The veins on my arms have all but dissappeared and my hair growth has slowed. Also, on Friday, I noticed some breast tissue forming under my nipples, it isn't yet visible but I can feel it there. :D
I was told by some girls that there probably wouldn't be any changes in the first couple of months but it would seem that I must be lucky in that they are working for me so quickly at my age. :)
