View Full Version : I asked my aunt to show me how she walks in heels.

She gladly obliged. She gave me pointers on how to move my hips, and how I should step.
The funny thing is, she wasn't her usual graceful self. She's worn heels for longer than I can remember, so it's an automatic thing. As soon as she had to think about it to explain it to me, she had to grab a chair to keep from falling down.

I found that if one thinks too much about how they are walking in heels to present as a female they tend to overemphasize their sway of the hips. It takes a lot of work, especially since I don't have the hip shape of a woman to make it look natural. But I do it better when I don't concentrate too much on it when walking.

Agreed! Thinking too much about how we or GG's walk in heels actually throws me off balance too. At work, I watch hundreds of women walk by daily and observe their walking on occasions (and fashion!). Other than the hips, the foot steps tend to be smaller. That's it. I certainly see my share of GG's wobble on heels as they figure out how to get to their next destination while weaing 3+" heels. Others are fine and show lots of experience. Don't think, just do!

I've seen some women walk like Labourers, while others are very graceful.Imo it doesn't always go that GGs are confident in heels,It depends who your asking to teach you.

Isn't it cool that you can talk to your aunt about these things ;)

It really is. She's the most accepting person I know. She's taught me how to apply eye makeup, how to walk in heels, how to pick jewelery to go with an outfit. Whenever I ask her for help, she's really enthusiastic about it, since all of her daughters have left the nest.

I actually think heels helps me in my martial arts training..really..the balance it takes to wear them gracefully translates into me having more balance in my training..go figure!

Which style do you practice? What is the highest height heel you can manage to be graceful in?

i find 3inch heels harder to walk in than 4inch and tried 6inch ones at transformation shop in London and could only just stand up, walking in them....nah!!!

When I get back from boot camp, Her and I are going shopping for a few new outfits and 10 pairs of heels apiece.
I think I'll ask her for more lessons then.
