I'm going to be in SF this Thursday and would like to try shopping in a few thrift stores, but I am extremely shy. Can anyone recommend one or two that are very, very tg friendly?

Never been to SF but let up on the shyness! Remember all they want is your $$$! So have a good time! Hugs!

All of SF is T friendly for shopping, eating and drinking. Go where and do what you want. Places to shop;

Market and Church Street near the Safeway Supermarket - Out of the Closet on Church (also located in several other parts of SF and the Bay Area), Crossroads Trading On Market Street, 2 thrift stores on Polk at California Street, Goodwill on Haight Street in the Haight Ashbury. These are the ones that I have shopped at. There are many more, just Google their names and also "thrift stores in San Francisco". Happy shopping and enjoy your stay.

Oh sweetie. It's San Francisco, for goodness sake. They're ALL gonna be TG friendly. The Haight Ashbury area is probably still worth a visit. You won't raise many eyebrows there.

It's really like any big city. The city is going to be way more sophisticated than you. They have seen it all already. "Ho-Hum, it's just another tranny."

Yep, exactly what they said. SF is a fine town to be out and about in and they really have seen everything. There is hardly anyplace in town that I haven't trod in women's shoes a time or another. Dare I say it, there have been times that I think someone was more friendly or helpful *because* I'm trans, rather than in spite of it!

DON'T be shy, DO have fun. DON'T feed the sea lions, DO have an Irish Coffee.

In San Francisco, it's the law that they treat you right, It maybe the most T friendly city in the world.

Just a quick update. I found Out of the Closet, and started looking at the skirts. No alarms went off, no one yelled at me for looking at womens skirts. I found one that I thought would fit, and took it to the cashier. The cashier then looked at me and asked a question. I hope you're ready for this one, she asked me if I was a senior citizen. I said yes and got a ten percent discount. I'm sure the next time will be soon, and I know it will be easier.

I walked by The Foxy Lady (http://www.foxyladyboutique.com) in the Mission today and wondered about how things went for you. Glad you had a good experience today!

Shoot, I always forget to ask if they have senior discounts at Out of the Closet. Thanks for reminding me.
