I am attending a 8pm cd meet at a bar tomorrow, which is 1.30 hours drive from home. I was initially planning to leave at 6.30 along with another TG, but she has dropped out. Since i do not want to drive long distance alone, I have decided to go along with a TS friend who was going to leave early at 2pm so that she could shop at the mall.

I am comfortable being dressed out for 2-3 hours, but after that it has been always been torture. Pe*is cries for mercy, Bra hurts, wig feels odd, hip cincher hurts and fear of makeup running off etc. I was initially planning on going with a sexy tight skirt on, but now, i will have to settle in for a more comfortable drabby jeans skirt. Kills the fun. But I am hoping a first time shopping experience might compensate for that.

I have several issues now, which I need suggestions on.
1. What to carry in purse (it is a pocketbook actually)?

2. Some tips to apply longer lasting makeup. I dont have a primer, Will primer help makeup last long? Please suggest me some long-lasting "value for money" mineral-based primer that i can buy in smaller quantity, that i can get at local beauty supply shops? what else will i need?

3. Any suggestions on restroom usage. (I know not to open the lid)

4. Its going to be a rainy day tomorrow. Is it odd for a girl to carry a men's umbrella?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Well, sounds like you will get more than you anticipated. Wear the jeans skirt and then later change in the car or a restroom into your tight sexy one. I have changed skirts and tops several time in the car parked and watching out for passing people. For your tuck, try to take a few extra bathroom breaks and literally untuck for a bit and then re-tuck back to where you want. I normally have at least two different shades of lipstick, a lighter shade for the daytime and a darker one for the evening. I also sometimes carry some Transpore medical tape, athletic tape works fine, to be used if necessary when my feet start to rub in my shoes. Believe me, it saves a lot of pain and grief for that evening and for the rest of the time it takes to heal. I have a small thin wig brush, some breath mints, a flat rectangular mirror, my wallet, of course, which also only has enough cash and one credit card, just in case I forget the purse somewhere, or someone steals it, a small pack of Kleenex tissues which also work well to lot your makeup if you start to sweat or it gets shiny. I sometimes take a small foundation compact with that cotton applicator pad so that I can lightly apply a bit of powder (matte finish) foundation if blotting the makeup doesn't work so well. Don't forget your cell phone and a small pen to take down phone numbers and email addresses. I do not know where you live, so ask your TS friend what she recommends for the restroom. I always use the women's facilities. Yes, you can carry a black man's umbrella. I buy cheap one's in femme colors at Ross, TJ Maxx or Marshall's and keep them in my car for rainy days. It is interesting how little I have used any of them. Also, ask your friend to keep an eye on your looks to make sure to alert you when something is out of place or sticking out.

Now the most important recommendation is to really enjoy yourself. You are so lucky to be going out with an experienced veteran. Take advantage of that and party!

PS: Do not forget your emergency bag of male clothes and shoes, socks, whatever to keep in your trunk just in case. Also if your beard grows fast, if you drive your own car to the final destination, take a cordless shaver to touchup the stubble if necessary before going in. You may be hugged by the new girls when they meet you. Just remember to try to avoid a tight hug where you end up putting your makeup on the other person's top of coat and vice versa. That happens to me all the time. I have paid for my thrift store jacket several times with dry cleaning bills!

Allie, All your suggestions are very valuable and practical. I had not thought about changing in the car, but that's a great idea. I don't have cordless shaver, but I usually forget to take an emergency throwaway razor. Good reminder. Restroom is still a major concern, hope the mall has handicapped restroom. Look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-86cLSM3V8. :D

Thank you so much. Hope I can have a good time. Being in SF area, you are more lucky as you don't have to drive so far for meetups.

I have done 1 hour plus drives before, but those local meet ups are much easier. Go to Fry's a look for the little Remington rotary head rechargeable shaver for around $20. I bought mine after I bought one for my grandson and then realized I could use one too for those long days and nights out. I had one and misplaced it, and sure as Murphy's Law, I will find it after I buy a new one.

Great video.

Start wearing comfortable underware that fits and it will be comfortable, sounds like the bra is to tight, tucking properly should also be comfortable, try leaving the waist cincher off. Go in drab and change in the handicapped stall of the ladies restroom. You look so young and pretty in your avatar, pretty face, nice skin and the blond wig is very attractive. Glad your getting out and enjoying being a cd. Have fun!!

Before my SO had laser hair removal, her beard shadow would begin to show through after about 3-4 hours. She kept some blade razors in her purse and would dry shave her face quickly (over the makeup is OK), then touch up with a bit of powder.

Your eye makeup should be OK for that length of time. The girls here can advise you on foundation and powder, but also bring blush & brush, lip liner & lipstick in your purse. And kleenex. And a comb. And a spare pair of earrings in case you lose one. And maybe keep some face wipes in the car along with a duffle bag with your guy change of clothes & sneakers in case there's a problem on the road, or if you just have to take everything off on the way home for relief.

I've been using a regular, retractable black umbrella all my life (it matches the black boots & purse that I usually wear in the fall/winter).

If you feel uncomfortable using the ladies washroom in the mall, you could use the ones in department stores. They tend to be less populated. You could also stop at a gas station on the way or just after and sometimes they have one person stalls. Or, you and your friend could take a break at a sit-down restaurant during off hours at the mall and use the bathroom there. It shouldn't be as crowded.
