hiya J,

It is exactly like Las Vegas, except for being totally different...and there is an ocean. :heehee:

I have traveled across MS by car before, also stayed a few days in cities like Jackson when I was doing some consulting at some Frito-Lay plants. My impression was that straying too far away from my hotel on my own was not one of the best plans I could schedule on my itinerary. It is beautiful country but “outsiders” tend to be identified very quickly. Just my experience.

I’m sure there is tourist info online. I would consult that before I made any plans, if I was the one considering it. Hey, anyplace within striking distance of a beach always has potential for fun in my book.:hugs:

Have Fun!

Thank you, My wifes bday is halloween and we have a 4 day weekend. I want to drive in to Biloxi or Gulfport from FL. 700 miles not a problem. I have been to Vagas with wife dressed, also not a problem. This will be a last minute trip. I plan on being dressed all weekend. I was thinking of staying at a motel a little away from the casinos. I'm thinking it may be a little less costly; s.o. wants money for slots. Is it hard getting rooms without reservations? We are not really into nightclub scene, Are the casinos within walking distance of each other? Are there areas without a lot of noisy, nosy young people.

Hi JackieFl: I'm originally from NOLA and have spent a good bit of time in Biloxi/Gulfport but not for many years. Since the casinos came in it has become a "resort area" and is pricier than it used to be pre-casino when it was a nice beach getaway place. I can't speak to how CD/TG friendly it is; there are some towns/areas along the coast that are small-town/conservative and most of the popular beach areas are "anything goes".
I would highly recommend a day trip over to NOLA if you can manage it. More expensive to stay there but if you are in Biloxi and have never been it is worth the drive and is overall a pretty friendly place.
Have a great trip!

sometimes you can get rooms comp to you by a casino. There is also a trolley looking bus that makes its rounds to all the casinos in Biloxi. The casinos are kinda spread out. Couple close to each other then a little distance...Katrina took out a couple casinos. Gulfport is about 15 miles from Biloxi. And you can walk the beach across from the Grand casino at night..Really nice...
