Saturday I was out at Bar Sinister (goth club in Hollywood, there were about 40 TGs there for a scheduled invasion) and was in line for the rest room with my gg-gf when the 5'6" girl in front of her said to me "I wish I had your height."
I'm 6'1" and was in 4" heels.
Don't know if I had passed and she said that to me girl-to-girl or was just being nice, but it sure did stick with me.
So keep your chin up, shoulders back, and be proud. Someone out there is envious!

Interesting. I was at a GLBT friendly bar last Friday night. I was the only CD and clearly the tallest person in the place at 6'2" plus 3 1/2 heels. (I would have been the tallest person there even if I was wearing flats...but I digress) When I was in the ladies room, one of the GGs complimented me on the definition of my calves and a little while later another GG came up and asked me where I got my heels. She was a size 11 womens, I'm size 13.
Nobody questioned why I wearing heels at my height...and a GG even asked me to dance.

I am 6'1" and in 4" heels I am quite tall. However, keep in mind that there are tall women out there. I have many female cousins about the same height. This past weekend, My wife and I visited a friend and we went out and played some soccer (You can be girly and active at the same time, helps keep you fit and thinner which is more femme than a fat stomach) with a couple friends of his. This one girl I have never met before was there. My wife commented on how long her legs were and that she was almost as tall as I. She was very pretty and I'm sure has no problems getting men.
It is all about how you present yourself. You can be tall and wear heels. It does make you stand out a bit more, so make sure you have your A game on when out in public. I have been the tallest in the room before while dressed. I was noticed in a good way by many people that night. If you look good, you just look good.
Be tall and proud of it... :)

I have seen plenty of natural women who are fairly tall (6 foot or more) who still wear heels. I think it really draws attention to the legs, which I know for most of us would be one of our best features. I don't think height is enough to give you away even if you are fairly tall (unless you are like NBA type tall and wearing heels). I have wondered if wearing flats while being tall might be more of a give away since people may unthinkingly accredit more of your height to heels than they should but would notice there is nothing giving you that extra height right away with flats.

Not long ago, I was at a restaraunt standing a few paces behind a woman who was certainly as tall as me, and wearing heels. She was quite fit, but not skinny, and carried herself with great self assurance. I was desparate to ask her where she got her outfit ;)

I always wanted to be taller, at 5' 5.5" (need the half) I'm a bit of a short *ss.
I was looking at and photo (100 meters long) this morning. The project was done in Berlin '07. Check it out.
I think when practicing 'the walk' it's more about being aware where the elbows are. Boys tend to push them out while girls bring them in. If you turn your elbows out towards the direction you are walking and then twist your wrists back in towards your side you get the happening correctly.. lol There is a great example of this on the image towards the end on the right side (slider at bottom)

At sixfootsix, without shoes, i hit doorjams often, and lamps. I candress up, and look verynice, but still have trouble with being six foot ten in heels. I am paranoid, and self conscious, but not all the time.

Just don't walk around with your wrists turned out, baring your forearms forward. I know someone who does that (TS) and it makes her seem more like a weird effeminate gay boy instead.
And I see most women wear flats regardless of height, most of the time. I don't think wearing flats would be a tell.

Great thread here; I'm 6' 3" and wear 3" heels. I simply love being tall and I'm " Rubenesque";it all works for me,except it's a bit of a pain to find clothes for us tall babes.

Grass is greener syndrome.
I made the mistake of telling one of my very tall female co-workers (who is about 6 foot) "my kingdom to be tall!" Only to be told "no, you really don't want to be tall." I'm 5'1 and have to jump on tip toes to reach most things. So there's me wishing I was taller, and I'd imagine she was wishing she was shorter. When in reality we should all be rocking our exact height and not worry at all.
I never understand why people worry about being tall and wearing heels. If your tall anyway, why worry about a few more inches if you can find a pair of shoes you really adore and look good in.

I'm actually OK with my height. If I was wishing to change impossible things in the 'size' department, it would be my feet. Being a 12.5 womens makes it hard to find nice shoes that aren't crap or fetish quality, that don't squish my feets or have my heel slipping out.

I would assume it has to do with spine compression, but eventually gravity takes its toll in a couple hours. You're taller in the morning than before bed, and astronauts are taller in space, too.

That's cool. Self confidence in my own apperence is something I'm finally getting now and I've come to terms pretty well with being short.
My boyfriend has the same problem. I can sympathise. I know it's not quite the same but I almost the opposite problem, I have very very small feet (size 3 or 4!), but quite wide calves so I can never find boots that I can do up. I wanna wear knee high boots too! It isn't all bad though, I can buy from kids ranges and they are usually a little cheaper.
I hope you one day find that source of awesome shoes. :)

My g/f wears a 5/5.5, so I am well aware how being on the extremes is a pain in the butt, she's had to buy kids shoes before too! And I think she's 5'2".
Now if only I had that actual self confidence!

When I am at the local malls I always take notice of tall GG's. I check out their faces. I think a woman six foot plus can be very attractive. The only problem for me at six foot is not wanting to attract attention. There's more to a tall woman than just height. I think 99% of tall guys will never pass under scrutiny of others. I think a cross dresser at 5 foot six plus heels will have a greater chance to go unnoticed. If I went en femme to a club where a cross dresser or GLBT's were the norm, then you are in a safe environment. I've been on a quest to drop to my weight of forty years ago- 175. Maybe at six foot and 175, I'll stand a chance. At 200 pounds- never pass. However, if I were a GG, I'd love being at least five foot ten.

I am very self conscious of my height. Although true there may be some tall GGs out there, there are very few that are over six feet tall. I stick out in a crowd as I guy, so I can only imagine how I would stick out en femme. There would be no possibility of blending in. :( One can do wonders with makeup, but unfortunately makeup cannot conceal height . . . .
I'm 6'2" and find that I usually like to wear flats when I go out. Every once in a while I will encounter a 6'+ GG and it's funny to watch her eyes dart down to my feet. Of course, mine are doing the same! At that point we usually exchange the knowing smile of the Tall Club and move along.
I find heels fun, but not really conducive to blending. If I'm going to the right place I can wear them, but I tend to be selective.
Yes, I know some folks say "Own the look!" but I'm already having plenty of fun owing my 6'2" look in flats! :)

Anne, its not all that bad - we're about the same height - and yes, we can stand out a bit by virtue of the fact that we're taller than average. Your pretty, have great looking hair and great fashion sense. People may notice your height, but they'll notice these things as well!

Height (6'1")...heels...up I go! That's one part I can't change along with my hands. It's the OTHER things that I hope will let me blend in..."look at that 6'3" wallflower over there." lol

I lost the link, but a while back I had a list of all the famous and mostly beautiful women who were five foot eight inches or taller. Some of the prominent names I remember are Lucy Lawless, Nicole Kidman, Sean Young, Sigourney Weaver and Darryl Hannah. The list was quite long.

I am 6'1" when I have a 5“ tall jar of Jif peanut butter strapped to the bottom of each foot. People used to comment on my height, but I feel that had a lot to do with them noticing the jars of peanut butter. When I started wearing 5" heels, the comments subsided... (About the jars of peanut butter anyway...lol).:heehee:
Physical Attractiveness is an individual judgment call influenced by the number of traits that match your personal preferences. For me, being “tall” is not a limiting factor to attractiveness. Watching women’s professional tennis proves that if anything, height is an asset.
Focusing specifically upon the relationship between height and the ability to “blend in” in a crowd, I think being shorter does provide some advantages.

I'm 6'2" before heels and the other night I was out at a club wearing my new 4"heels and a girl at the table next to me commented that she loved the heels I have on and where did I find them? I told her and she was very greatful, she too wore larger size heels, she also congratulated me on how well I could navigate in heels, she thought I was doing better than most girls wearing 4" heels.:heehee:

Not really. I'm 5'7" which is taller than the average woman, but there's plenty of women I come across on a daily basis, way, way, taller than me. If I had my choice, I'd be 5'2" or so, but this is good enough.

I am a solid 6'2". ...
Living out there every day. I rarely wear heels..and I notice that 5'11" seems to be the max height girls wear heels..
I get asked about my height once a week or so...that's it...
If I am asked in a nice way I just smile and chat... If it's a guy I tell him I am 11' 5" and watch him stammer..
One thing that Ive heard a couple times is a mom coming to me and saying she has a tall daughter, and she wishes she could show her daughter how I don't slouch.,,, Don't slouch!!!!

This is a great thread :) Definitely a bit of a boost, I'll be going out in heels for the first time ever (I'm 6ft tall) and I was getting really paranoid about it! I just need to make sure I nail 'the walk' (tips are highly encouraged by the way! :) ) and be/look as confident as possible!

I don't know what all the concern is about. I'm 6'2" and always wear 5" high heels when I dress - whether it's in a party dress, skirt and blouse, lingerie, or in a nice pair of cork wedges for a day in the sun. It's me and I think it looks good - which, really girls, is all that matters!

I'm 6'1" and won't wear heels anywhere where there are people around. I'm already a head taller than most people, and don't want to add 4 more inches onto that and draw even MORE attention.
I WILL wear heels around the house, when walking alone, or when going to some kind of CD event where where drawing attention just isn't as much of an issue. :)

Hi Mikaela,
I'm not overly tall, but at 6 ft 2 Tash does kinda stand out a bit.
I have got to know several SA's at the malls I frequent, and they echo your OP about my height, esp when I have a dress like the one in my avatar. I'm still a bit self conscious though and won't wear any shoes with a 2 inch heel to the mall.

I worried about it at first...now since I go out all the time I don't even think about it. There are so many women that are tall.

I'm 5'10" flat-footed...and so is Cindy Crawford. How many short models can you list? How many tall models can you list? Do models where high heels?
I walked out of a party last night in a wiggle dress and 4" peep-toe pumps. (I had to walk on gravel and it messed them up, but I looked damn good doing it!) And, everyone at that party stared me up and down.
At 5'10"...I have curves, a long torso, and long legs...I don't look frumpy because I have a waist. A shorter woman with my curves would probably look really round and frumpy.
Haters gonna hate...and they did. Don't take no flack from short people...and, wear your heels so that you can look down on them!!! MWAHAHAHA

I'm a tall 6'1" large frame sz 18 lady according to my SO and wear a size 11 ladies shoe up +3" more Many many times I wished was smaller and shorter. For a while anytime I saw an outfit that was super neat it never came in a 18.

I'm 5'10". When I was in high school I was mortified at my height. I was always the tallest girl in the room.
In my 30s I wore heels so high I got nose bleed. I didn't care. I wanted to be noticed and I was.
Now, in the flush of maturity, I never wear heels. It's flats for me, all the time. But I certainly remember how much fun those heels were. Oh my, yes.

There are plenty of tall girls out there, but as GGs they are rare past 5 10'. At 6' I'd prefer to be 3 or 5 inches shorter. It is harder, as several people have noted, to blend in at this height, particularly in 3 1/2 heels or taller. But remember, you don't look as tall sitting down, or at a distance. At 165 I stand a chance, and, even if I don't "pass" I am still happy to be the girl I am. Have confidence, walk tall and don't let people bring you down.

In response to the OP, I am not particularly worried about my height. Even with my highest heels (4.5") I am only 5' 8.5" tall. My biggest worry is my weight. Fortunately, I have seen numerous sites that target larger GGs and have pictures. I try to emulate those ladies, as they are larger yet they still look very attractive with nice knee length dresses and 4 - 5" heels.

I'm so glad to see so many of you in this thread owning your height. I never expected this thread to go a couple pages.
I'm still learning to be comfortable in my own skin, but it's hard to ignore the compliment from my OP that was so sincere.
I know it's hard being taller than the average woman, but there are tall women like Shananigans out there and we see them every day (I saw a beautiful short haired african american woman taller than me today). For every problem we have with ourselves, someone else may find it endearing or enviable because people come in all shapes and sizes, regardless of gender.

You're absolutely right, Mikaela! Think about what a sad world it would be if we were all short and round :)
Although...there are some irritating things about being tall. You automatically make clothes look more provocative...shorts and skirts are always shorter. (This was hard for me in high school...my school didn't allow me to wear the shorts that all of the other girls wore. It was grandma shorts or jeans for me!) Also, it's hard to find jeans with 36" and above inseams. Also, if you are tall and have big boobs, empire waist shirts never seem right. It seems like we pull shirts down more to cove our torso and if you do so then your boobs are hanging out. Or, if you pull te shirt back up, half of your boob is cut off with the empire seam and your stomach is showing, which is only okay if a bar is in your future.
Other than those few things, I love my height.
I used to hate being taller than the boys in school, but they grew up. Also, there are plenty of tall guys out there...and, if I am taller than some guy that I happen to be around, I see it as his problem and not mine.
As for girls...I love tall girls. It hurts my neck to lean over all night...I'd rated be close to face-to-face...it's conducive to more fun activities.
I do imagine the problems my father would face as a CD...he was a 6'7" defensive lineman in his time. I don't think he has ever done a feminine thing in his life...but there's gotta be a huge CD out there of similar stature.
Mikaela, you look like the same size as me, so you have nothing to worry about. I think it's when you reach Shaq height and 300 pounds of muscle that people really stare at you for being in a dress.
Or, should I say Rodman? He is a CD...
