The other day, I am in JCP looking at their sale racks and see a sleeveless, loose fitting sweater and don't give it a second thought. Then I see basically the same thing on a 30 yr old woman and see how it is supposed to look. Immediately, I want it.
If you dress as a male, you can wear a t shirt or a golf shirt, shorts or jeans. If you are a woman, you have so many options. Short shorts, knee length shorts, capris, pants, flats, heels, t-shirt, tank, layers options, etc, etc. It seems that there is just so much to learn about how to dress and the options available. I can see why women like to shop.
Does anyone else feel this way?

I actually do like shopping for women's clothes more than men's and to say that my knowledge is insufficient would be a huge understatement. The statement about women liking shopping is over-broad, though. Many of the women in my life have not. That includes my wife, who dresses superbly. She is a targeted shopper - when she has a need, she goes to exactly the places that will have what she wants, buy, leave, and that's pretty much the end of the shopping trip.

One thing that is fun is that my ability to shop for her has popped out as something new. I would only do this for a narrow range of items, but as I completely trust her taste, having learned from her, it also increases my shopping confidence for myself.

Sheri, your so right about the options in woman's clothing. Not only the styles of shorts, pants, and tops but also the many styles of panties and bras.
Yes, so much to learn but so much fun learning!!!

OMG is there ever sooooo much to learn! Growing up as a girl gives you a solid 15 years to learn all this stuff (assuming you can really start learning the details at age 3). We try to learn it all instantly and it's hard!!! I've been at it for 6 years and my wife is proud that Tina is now an adolescent in such a short time! Still a long way to go!

There is a lot to learn, but as for myself I think it is more of developing your own style and feeling comfortable in what you're wearing. There is also figuring out what looks good on you and putting it all together

My late wife always wanted to take me shopping with her. She thought that I always would pick out better items, and at lower prices, then she did. Granted, even after 70 years I still don't know that much about women;s clothing. But I watch women all the time and try to learn new things about their clothing. After all, I wear their clothing so I should know about it!!

I think Nikki said it for me - It's trying to figure out what looks best on me.

I just wish I was rich enough to get a real education shopping! It's all of those choices that make shopping in the womens section so much fun, styles, colors and all of those fun accessories!

I love all the options, it makes shopping all that more enjoyable. The only issue I have is trying them on at the storeā€¦I still feel a little uncomfortable going in the changing room.

I think it was the colors and the feel of soft fabrics that attracted me in the first place. I could spend all day just window shopping and I think looking at the way other girls dress has the same effect as well as giving me new ideas. xxx

"There is so much to learn..." Boy, Sheri, you hit the nail on the head here. Body types. Skin types. Hair types. Your best colors. Dressing for day...for the weekend...for evening...for the beach...for brunch with the girls...for the Christmas party....it never ends. A cover line on a women's magazine I saw yesterday read "Finding your best lipstick." I so wanted to buy it. "What not to wear" and "Say Yes to thr Dress" I love to watch... red lipstick is garish on me but I love it and wear it anyway...a GG would never do that...

Mostly what has worked for me is trial and error..I have wasted hundreds at least, on pretty, frilly cocktail dresses that simply don't look right on mybody. Sweaters and straight skirts and mid-heels make me look pretty good....but it is indeed a long process

Yes, there is so much to learn. And what better way to learn than spending lots of time at the mall trying on all sorts of different styles whilst deciding what works best for you.

Lots of fun :)

It is a wierd business... women's clothing is a blank canvas... everything is possible. For men, 'domage' (it's a French word)... one of my daughters has studeied fashion design and specialised in Menswear... it would appear that there are loads of designers out there trying to make menswear interesting... but the market is geared to the young... is it a male thing that as we age we want boring clothes? When I was 20 I was in the Kings Road in Chelsea in a fitted Satin jacket, velvet flares, 4 inch stack healed shoes (with platforms) hair half way down my back!

But yes... the choice... the opportunity to wear things in different ways... imagine turning up at the sales meeting in anything other than the neutral suit, 'right' coloured shirt and 'appropriate' tie... no man looks at shoes... women do!
