On Monday I had my FFS. I didn't know how impacting it would be. I had to spend the night since I had everything done at one time. I had tube along my lower jaw until today . They were really uncomfortable to remove!!! Ouch! Anyway I am on my recovery now an the doctor says I am going to look fabulous. Well I'll have to defer to his vision. Right now I can't see it. I planned this so I can return to work in December full time. I have a lot to share if anyone's interested.

I think if you are considering the FFS route you should really try to choose someone close to home. I am not sure what I would have done in a foreign place. But then again thats me.

Thanks for sharing. I am glad to hear you are doing well. Do you mind sharing who your surgeon is and what you had done?

I think about ffs all the time. It seems like one of the most impacting surgeries...recovery must suck but the results can be life changing in presenting externally what you feel inside. I hope you are on the mend very soon!

The removel of the tubes SUCKS! No one ever tells about when they pull them out and how weird it feels and hurts.

I am with you on removing the tubes. Oh did it surprise me. The doctor just stood back and kind of injected some sort of cleansing stuff in the clipped my stitches and out they came!!!! Oh Yeah!!! You are right Geneivieve no one told me about those. Anyway It is all a matter of how fast you heal and I have to tell you it was a life changing surgery for me. You see this surgery was the beginning of my full time and I haven't been dressed like my old self ever since. I feel like the butterfly who has finally shed the cocoon and am free now. I know there is SRS in the future but as of now I am experiencing the real me. I attached a couple of pics for those of you who wanted to see the results in just 10 days. I know there are others on her way more pretty than I am now but I am finally able to be me.... I can't explain it any other way.

Thanks everyone who replied and encouraged me. The recovery kind of sucks but it is well worth it. Also I have my name change scheduled in December. I will soon be Jacqueline Renee

FFS is a serious obsession for me!! I cannot go 24/7 until I adjust my monster male face!!
The day someone looks at me and sees me as female will be the day I go full time. Money that's the problem!

I have never had FFS, but I have had two "regular" facial surgeries. I had my sinuses done and my septum straightened (both in my nasal cavity), and I have had jaw surgery some years ago. As such, I can certainly empathize with how you feel. Rest is a very good thing, and get off the heavy pain meds as quickly as you can.

Let me get this straight. You had FFS on the 24th of October and you look like you do in those pictures. I had FFS and I know people that have had FFS. I can only ask what did you get done because you look very well healed in such a very short period of time. Almost like you had your FFS done magically.

P.S. Someone asked you what doctor you went to and you have yet to answer that question. I am dieing to know so I will ask the question again. What doctor did you go to?

I am hopefully having my FFS within the nest 6-9 months (still trying to find a way to make it work with my job right now) with Dr. Zukowsk in Chicago. I am having a full FFS so I know I will be bandaged up and in pain for a few days at least. A good girlfriend of mine went to Dr. Z and her results were nothing but amazing so I am hoping that mine are equally as amazing. /Cross Fingers

Hi all again!! Thank you for the reply as to how fast I am healing. The doctor said he has never seen anyone heal as fast as I have been. I had my nose rebuilt to transition into my upper eye brows. I had an eyebrow lift and had my eye lids reduced to get rid of all the excess skin above my eyes. I had my neck reduced / tightened and an implant in my chin. Then I had two cheek implants. Finally I had a hair advancement to make my hair line more feminine, and so the doctor could adjust my eye brows from straight above instead of pulling it all into the center. Says he gets much better results that way. I also had my face tightened a little. One cool thing was he told me to eat plenty of pineapple to reduce the bruising. The doctor's office even sent me an edible bouquet that was made of mostly of (you guessed it) pineapplesCourse I was in ice a lot too for the first several days. It was really never painful.

My doctor's name is doctor Gregory Chernoff in Indianapolis. He has an office also in California. I really love the care and sensitive of him and everyone in his office. Dr. Chernoff wants to specialize in caring for transgender women so he is an excellent choice. The day of the surgery even everyone in the surgery center addressed me by my new name and treated me with so much respect. So girls if you have anything done remember pineapple and ICE!!!!!! I am also getting my Laser and Electrolysis done there too. If anyone wants to contact me personally I will give you any other details and or further contact information.

All I can say is I have seen a lot of FFS photos doing research, and even had a couple minor procedures myself already (rhinoplasty and chondrolaryngeoplasty), and I have never seen such a fast recovery in 10 days. The sutures and staples with Spiegel don't even come out until the eighth day.
