With the floods in Bangkok affecting all but the centre of the city, is surgery there now out of the question?

I belong to the Yahoo group for Dr. Chettawut, and at least now, all is still well. Both hotels are ok ( although one is sandbagged just in case). The clinic is open and working normally. Judging from the news reports, if you have an appt in Bangkok for surgery in the near future, I'd write/call your doc. Dr. Supporn works out of Chon Buri, I think it is ok.

There are two airports for Bangkok, the "old" airport, Don Muang, is closed. Suvamabhumi is open with no problems. Getting around town may be harder due to the flooding. This news update makes it sound like the near future is wet, but that most of Bangkok will be ok:

The latest news from Bangkok is not promising, as the water continues to rise and the authorities are trying their hardest to protect the centre of town, while evacuating other sectors. How long can this go on?

While there is still unprecendented flooding in Bangkok, Dr. Chettawut's clinic is ok. Here is a cut/paste from his yahoo group. The links show the clinic and surrounding area. It is dry (thank goddess).

Here is a link to a satellite photo (yes a real one) of the area around the Chettawut Plastic Surgery Center taken on 31 Oct 2011. The surgery center is the lighter circle on the north (upper) side of Sukumvit 77 Road and the pedestrian crossing is right in front. When the image was taken there is no water on the road as can be clearly seen.

{ sorry, link doesn't work unless you are a member, I've attached a screen grab of the image }
