Now for something on the lighter side. Let's have some fun, ladies. Tell me (and everyone else), what's your favorite perfume? Mine's "Beautful" by Estee Lauder. I found it one day while working on a computer for a client. She was standing directly behind me. To say I was attracted by her perfume is a great understatement. I found it positively distracting. I asked her what she was wearing, and she told me. I immediately purchased a bottle of it for my wife, who loved it as well. Heck, what woman wouldn't? One sniff, and you'll be hooked. It is one of the most feminine scents I have ever smelled.

What's yours?

Enjoli. Reminds me of when in the 70's, going to stripper clubs. Liked it then, and like it now.

A little number called "sexual". It never fails to attract my attention. It is listed as a "day" fragrance, but I've never seen that limitation!

for me, it's Exlamation! I even have the body powder to go with it. I also have Lady Stetson, also with a body powder. Wear a small shot of either one every day, even in my "male mode".

"Beautful" comes in a cream form in a tube. A little less powerful than standard perfume but works great for a suttle female smell. I ware it all the time and no one has ever commented on it be a woman's perfume but I still get to enjoy knowing that it's all woman !

I adore Anna Sui "Sui Dreams" -- flowery, with a hint of vanilla and sandlewood. My local Sephora stores seem to not have it in stock right now -- and I'm all out!

Actually you can order samplers and minis online -- they're quite affordable. Perfume Bay (http://www.perfumebay.com/miniatures-women-s-designer-fragrance-samples.html) has Eau de Toilette Sampler Vial Spray for $5.

Given that we're not using perfume everyday and that it's only is good for a year or two, samplers are a very good solution.

Definately Lauren by Ralph Lauren. Probably because the first girl I fell for in high school wore it, and I have been able to spot it ever since.

I love fragrance, so much so that I have read several books on the art and theory of perfumery and the history of the perfume industry.

It can take time to find a scent that you truly love. Buying sample sizes is an excellent way to experiment with different fragrances; I have sampled hundreds of perfumes over the years and I still try new ones from time to time. I think that scent is one of the most powerful yet underappreciated of the five senses, and I find that perfume can evoke a particular mood or emotion like nothing else can.

A fragrance consists of a harmonious combination of notes that together create an olifactory "accord," like a musical chord. Perfumes are composed of three notes: top notes, heart notes, and base notes. The top notes are the ones you smell when you first apply the perfume, and they evaporate quickly. The heart notes give the perfume its unique character, and the base notes (usually heavier scents like musk or patchouli) linger the longest. The scent of the perfume changes as you wear it, and that too is part of the pleasure, at least for me.

There are about five fragrances I wear regularly:

Coco by Chanel
Lolita Lempicka (my current favorite)
Jaipur Saphir by Guerlain
Samsara by Boucheron and
Gaultier (my other current favorite).

All of these can be classified as Oriental or "Floriental" fragrances, which means they smell sweet, spicy, earthy, exotic, and to me, sexy. I personally don't go for pure florals like Estee Lauder's Beautiful, but I agree it's an ultra-feminine scent and I gave some to Angel once as a gift. It does help to know what fragrance family you are drawn to when you are looking for something new. For example, I know I hate perfumes that mimic "green" scents (pine, rosemary, fresh-cut grass). There are plenty of perfume websites that provide information about these categories and will even let you search for fragrances by family.

If perfume isn't currently part of your femme wardrobe, you should really consider adding it. It's magic.:D

I like the custom blends that Aveda has. Each time, you can have the scent be a little different. #3 is my favorite.

Thanks again to MarlaGG, for the wonderful reply posted here. It's important to be informed on subjects such as this, not only for ourselves, but for the others in our lives as well. I never knew half of the things she goes into here, and now I feel much more well informed. You're the best, Marla. Keep it coming. It is always a pleasure to hear from you and read about your incredible points of view on various subjects. Before this, I always approached perfume on a "sniff" basis, that is to say, I sniffed it. If I liked it, okay; if I didn't, I moved on. Thanks again!

I can not believe no one even remotely even began to sudgest Fire&Ice. This is an awsome perfume, (little hint folks it comes in "for men" also) The makers were so nice, having this little hint we can keep it around and the SO will never be any the wiser. "Honey its for men its not perfume" Haa Haa Haa . LAdies check it out. The other one I Love is Exclamation mmmmm yummy!!!!! The Vanilla Fields is a great winter scent, it kinda warms all the senses and makes you feel all warm inside.

I use soft smooth sweet smelling good old fashion baby powder on my legs and arms. To me that smells better then any perfume I have had to my nose.
