Hi all,

I am about to go on holiday and need to take out travel insurance. Questions on the form ask if you have any psychological/mental health problems and also what medications you are on.

Has anyone had experience with this, and did you declare your gender issues, and that you were on hormone treatment? I personally feel that this has nothing to do with them and that the hormones I am taking are not a medical problem, just correcting a biological issue. For complicated reasons which I wont go into now, I will be travelling in male persona. (Ugh!)

Any help will be appreciated.

Hiya Maryanne, nice to hear from you again.

I think that you should declare that you are receiving Hormone Therapy but that you can honestly reply "no" to the mental health question. Remember, if you withhold any pertinent information you run the risk of voiding your insurance.

It's simple, really.

You have to tell the truth if you want the insurance to be valid. The insurance companies have rooms full of lawyers whose only job is to find ways to deny claims. It makes NO sense to pay for insurance and then lie about your info. Keep your money in your purse.

I'm sure the family near me who just had to sell their house because their son had an accident on holiday and didn't have travel insurance agreed with you

Hi Rianna, nice to hear from you to. Hope that all is well with you.

Yes, I agree with what you and some others have said, Better to declare it up front. I would not like to be without insurance in Africa.

Luv,

Maryanne
