Isn't that something we always hear from our GG's??? But when I went to pick out some pictures to post for my latest Halloween outing message that's what I thought! My current look in my newest outfit is only a shadow of the beauty that I was when I was fully dressed only six years ago. I have gained a lot of weight in that time and it really does impact the appearance. I am wondering whether I really want to post the new pics after all....

It is true that womens clothes really show up all of ones flaws (at least that's my opinion) ... maybe it's got to do with the way they are cut or fitting around the body or whatever, but I never used to wear any any guys clothes and look in mirror or see myself in photos and think I looked fat ... unless I had really added the pounds. Girls clothes however ... every pound shows! Now we know how it feels - huh?

From what I can see you look great. I would go ahead and post those new photos.

I don't think you look fat. I however am fat. I gained alot of weight after my divorce, I guess I just didn't care anymore. Now however I've decided to change that by losing the weight.
I guess what I'm getting at, and not doing to well at that, is that we see more flaws in ourselves than most others do. Don't beat yourself up.

I thought the same thing about 18 months ago. I looked in the mirror, and didn't like what I saw. I started eating better and rode my bicycle every morning. I started by doing 5 miles a day, then moved up to 7 miles. I bought a Bowflex (easy to find used...people buy them, use them for a few weeks, then get tired of it) and worked out regularly. In the winter I do 1/2 hr on an eliptical. I have also found that women's workout clothing is far more comfortable than men's. Lately, my bad back has been acting up, so I am somewhat limited in what I can do. I did manage to lose 50 lbs, and keep it off. It becomes habit when you stick to it. I dropped 2 skirt sizes, and lost 4" around my waist. I look and feel better than I ever have (other than the bad back...2 bulging discs, 1 fully herniated). If I could do it, anyone can. Start out slow and work up to achieve your goal. An added bonus is that you get to shop for new clothes, in a smaller size!

See if your employer/union has some sort of fitness plan with a local gym. Here, the local hospitals have off-campus exercise facilities available. It saves them money in health care costs, so they'll generally underwrite it. Your employer may pay you for 'sweat time' in the gym. As prettytoes said, see if there's exercise equipment available through Goodwill or your local classifieds or Craigslist.
For myself, I've had a fairly short, slim figure (well, with the exception of my bust), but as the years have advanced, so has the scale. What I do is run with the dogs. I have two: a rescued 'Heinz 57' pound puppy that's mostly Shepherd, and a rescued greyhound. They both love to run, and we live fairly far in the boonies, so in the morning I ride my bicycle to the local dog park (6 km), throw the tennis balls for them, then ride back with them. In the evening after work, I change and do it again. While I don't have my high school body, I'm in reasonably good shape. As a genetic male, the fat does tend to go to my waist, not my butt and thighs. I have been asked if I was pregnant, though, which motivated me to lose the spare tire.
