i'm finally finding some humor in my very depressing Halloween weekend. part of the trick&treating costume i wore with my kid involved a pair of my male shoes.

we wandered around for a couple of hours with friends, and by the time i got home, my feet and calves were in absolute agony. they're only just now starting to feel back to normal. yet if i'd have done the T&T in my wedges, my feet and legs would have been fine.

any other tales of problems 'going back' (to male clothing)?

I have always worn cowboy boots my entire life! So walking in heels seems so natrul to me! I was doing some roofing about twenty years ago so I wore Reboxs for one day and my back went out and I was bed ridden for over a week! Needless to say I have worn heels ever sense! Hugs!

Same here! I wear 4" or greater heels for about an hour a day and since I started that I've not had a single back incident, so I guess I actually never go back to only male shoes anymore.

Then there is the skin regimine. It's long since I've gone back to the ignorance of "being a guy" where my skin is concerned. After my first facial 4 years ago, the nurse asked what facial wash I used. I laughed and just said, "soap, I'm a guy". That situation ended 10 min later as I left with a full set of products, and I've never gone back (and my skin has said thank you since!).

No male jeans (except the old ones for the garden).

So yes, some parts just can't make it back to male mode.

I can't think of any physical maladies I could attribute to swithing back to male clothes. I wish I could! Then maybe I could dress on physician's orders!

Do you do yoga or stretching exercises? Wearing heels and wedges all the time is terrible for your achilles tendons as well as the gastrocnemius and soleues muscles. When wearing heels your muscles are always in partial flexion. The pain you felt in your calves was probably due to the stretching effect in the tendons and muscles as you forced them to perform their natural extension function.

You have to "Lift Your Feet" with shoes. (walking 101)

more than one chuckle passed my lips reading that!

@StarrOfDelite. i was wearing male flats - 1" - 1 3/4" heel size. if i'd have been wearing my usual cowboy boots (@Cynthia Anne) or 'engineer' boots...or my sneakers, it'd have caused much less of a problem, i think. my heel height varies on a daily basis

@Karren Hutton, seriously??? lol

I am pretty uncomfortable in flats now, having worn heels (around 4") most of the time for the last nine years. I'm also quickly reaching a point of being more comfortable in my corset than without it.

Huh......interesting.
My mom has a friend that has worn heels for so long that she can't walk flat without feeling pain.
Kind of reminds me of Japanese foot binding.
I have coupe of heels that I like to wear, including high heel boots that I go out in public with, but after 4 hours, my feet are killing me.

That'd be Chinese foot binding sweetie. The purpose of which was to show that someone was so rich they didn't need to have a, daughter/mother/wife, who worked.
