I am not big on self-congratulatory threads, but I received my new birth certificate this week (with proper name and gender designation). It is truly a rebirth when you think about it.

No, feel free to celebrate. :) Everyone here knows what this means. Unfortunately I was born in a Christian conservative state that will not issue a new birth certificate. It will only amend with birth sex still indicated.

The funny thing is that the revised birth certificate was sent to my old identity as I have not changed my name with the government instances used to verify my identity while ordering the new document. So it was like: Mr. X, here is your birth certificate in the name of Mrs. X.

Hahaha, they did the same thing when I changed my birth certificate LOL

Isn't that weird? Happened to me too. When I changed my name, they sent the new document to my old name. What can these people be thinking? Do they check their brains at the door?

Congratulations. When mine came in the mail it was one of the happiest days I ever had. I was dealing with a state that needed there medical team to look over my doctors report. The first time they said no, my doctor had said when he preformed SRS he did a "orchiectomy". The letter was refused. So I had a new one sent with the word a "full Inguinal orchiectomy", the medical team was fine with it, but there legal team said they not read it. 3 letters later it was changed. It was allot of work for a piece of paper that most will never see, but very important for me.

I could not be more happy for you Francis. Congrats.

In my case, I never bothered to get a new Birth Certificate but low and behold, my birth state sent me a letter asking if I want a new birth certificate because they got a certified copy of the court order from another state notifying them of the legal changes. So don't think we are under the radar. Our new vs old identity spreads like a wildfire.
