View Full Version : Have you Googled your Femme name

Renee W

My mind was kind of wandering when I checked my femme email account and I started wondering if my femme identity was someone elses actual name.

So, I decided to Google Renee Walker (the full name I had chosen for my femme self). The results....

Character from the TV show "24", portrayed by Annie Wersching during seasons 7 and 8. Never watched the show, so this was purely coincidence. Look at her picture on Wikipedia, she's cute (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renee_Walker).

There is also a writer-poet named Renee Walker.

There is a Renee Walker who is a graphics designer who won first place in the nutrition label design contest.

Another Renee Walker is the Associate Vice President of university communications for Central Michigan University.

There is a Renee Walker band in Germany.

I came up with a bunch of lawyers, some money managers, and an A-list socialite, right down to the society wedding and prep school boards memberships.

I come up with a ton of hits from cd.com... Facebook. Your not alone... Other forums. Half are mine. The other half are a femal named Karren Hutton who does female voice overs... http://www.karenhutton.com/.

Fem name is clear, but the male name still gets too many hits. Working in the public eye gets you that. Everything from pictures, to newspapers to blogs. Too much on the net to every get another job.... I liked it back in the day when all they had to go by was your resume and your last boss. Now they google you and find out all the true and sometimes not true things people said about you.

Oh well, adapt, overcome and survive as best as possible.... I could always go back into the closet. Pretty dark in there though....

Renne.....

My fem name gets hits but is not me. My male (neutral) name fills over 3/4 of the first page and is me.

My male name gets one hit.... Linkedin... The only place "he" is out on the web...

11-17-2011, 10:38 AM
actually, i worry that my femme name directs people to my posts on this forum (as well as a couple of others). For professional/personal/embarrassment/universal reasons, I'd rather that it be my choice when people know who Elizabethamy is during the work day and in day to day life. I wish there were some way to keep it more private but I have ditzily battled the privacy settings on this and other sites and can't seem to keep my pontifications from being available on google. I feel safer on this forum than on anything else I've ever visited, but still...

Apparently, someone's using my unique sense of fashion to promote their own line of purses. I'll have my lawyer give them a call to talk about royalties... LOL.

TGMarla
11-17-2011, 11:05 AM
The first "TGMarla" that comes up is someone who is not me with a You Tube video stream. Hmpf! Poser. The second one is me, though, and so is the rest of what comes up. I have to laugh, though. Someone found a picture of me on my "MySpace" account, and asked a question regarding taking up crossdressing as a fun and cheap hobby. Some of the answers are a real hoot. Several of them commented on how pretty my beige pointelle sweater dress is (I agree with them!), one suggested the shoes would be uncomfortable (Nah!), and another was dubious as to whether or not these were actually my clothes (they are!), meaning that they were likely my wife's (Not!). One also said I had great taste (Obviously!). I never considered that people would actually talk about me online without actually talking to me. Kinda spooky, really!

11-17-2011, 11:44 AM
I Googled my full name Lisa loveday back in October and came up with a lady on FB that likes to cook and has written a few books about cooking. So I hit the Like Button on her page.
Intresting thing is that I also love to cook and was canning 5 cases of Old Fashion Hamburger Relish and Monster Mash Relish for my sons family ( especially my grand daughter ) at the time.

I check my name - Ellie Loren and it is a shoe designer. How funny is that. So if anybody needs heels, look it up on the web. LOL!

There are two or three GG (probably, but who could be sure :D ) who have the same femme name except that they use Lee instead of Leigh, but the only exact name matches are me here and me on Facebook.

My male name... over 350,000 Google hits. Google gets inaccurate by the time you get that many hits, but when I searched before, narrowing down by keywords and subject topics, over 300,000 of the hits were me directly or discussions I was taking part in, including cross-references through linked servers. I have posted somewhere near 50,000 items under my male name. Unfortunately, having posted that much, many people do not need to see the name reported on the posting to determine that I wrote it.

This is what I got when I googled my profile name, "Dana7". This interesting set of photos belong to a ModelMayhem model whose profile name is also "Dana7". (Obviously not me)

Enjoy! :heehee:

Apparently Jamie Gibson is a popular name among both guys and girls. The most famous appears to be a rugby player. I bet he'd hate it if some of my posts/photos came up when somebody searched for him. I could not find myself among the first few pages of results. I think that's a good thing. On the other hand, my male name (first/last combo) has me in 9 of the top 10. But then, both of those names are rarer, and my work tends to have an above-average internet presence.

I just googled my yahoo messenger/flickr name. My fem pictures on flickr popped up at the top of the list. I deleted them immediately. I will have to make up a new screen name for yahoo. It is toooo close for comfort. I will still be amifl here. Eventually I will be "outed". Then who knows what..................

I came up with match at "Find a Grave".....seems she lived from 1859 till 1935.
Kind of strange as I have a fantasy of being a saloon girl in the late 1800's. :battingeyelashes:
Didn't I post in another thread around here yesterday having to do with reincarnation...... :daydreaming:

I did my name here and in the first 3 pages, nothing about me. Thank you very much for that oversight.

My screen name doesn't show anyone in particular, and searching my full femme name brings up someone in Canada, also in healthcare. She may be a distant cousin of some sort. Searching my male name brings up a hockey player from Canada, probably also a distant cousin, and a rare bit about me.......Stephanie

I have and I came up with a number of people, including my doppleganger! She's female, my age, and has the same last name...so weird.

Jill Devine
11-17-2011, 07:08 PM
I've got a goodie: Jill Devine also happens to be a radio DJ. The radio station actually contacted me to do an on air interview. She thought it was so cool when we traded emails that was actually a guy; she tried several times (plus the producer) to meet on air. For some reason, I decided not to do it. True story!

Yes, I've googled Hannah Feldman, also in Google images. I'm surprised how many hits there are. Also googled Hannahf7 and I seem to be a very horsey woman. Nothing seems to link back to this web site.

There are a ton of hits when I Google mine. The two most prominent are a film producer and a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist sent me an IM on face book introducing herself that was cool.

I chose a name that I thought was quite unique and reflected my Scottish heritage, the surname anyway because I was going by the name of Nicole at the time - not very Scottish. There were lots of people with that exact name on a Google search and none of them me. Recently though I've been going by the name Carla, inspired by the Coronation Street character. I just checked and I'm not the only Carla McNabb out there.

Yes a few times. Loads of results, a few were me but also loads on facebook and other networking. A fine selection from body boarders to physicists.

I am in the clear, which is a little ironic since I have been using my alias as my default profile on almost everything for the last year. Which is the way I really want it. He on the other hand is a internet hot mess I need to fix that before I get my name change.

11-17-2011, 10:43 PM
I searched for my name on google images last night. I'm everywhere and on everybody. Ever checked out stylebistro.com? there's a whole slide show of me on many different famous women!

Also, google images indexes flikr, so the search 'talbots dress' will show pics of both me and Michele Obama on the same page!!

Best,

When I google on my femme first and last name in quotes I get one hit, a site that simply took all possible first and last names and put them together in all combinations.

When you search mine, outside of Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn, you get a DJ (Hi Jill!) and a real estate agent. The DJ sounds more exciting. Went through several pages and didn't see myself. Saw a lot of people sueing each other. :heehee:

Under both names, I am me. Articles I have written and employment. I guess I can't hide

GeorgiaHall
11-18-2011, 12:57 AM
I only found a Georgia Hall, Ph.D., Senior Research Scientist, National Institute on Out-of-School Time, Wellesley Centers for Women; a residence hall (Georgia Hall) at Valdosta State University; a MySpace and LinkedIn profiles (neither are mine) and that's about it. Nothing from here popped but I didn't look beyond the second page of results.

I get this old painting of a smiling woman painted by some guy from Italy!

DebbieL
11-18-2011, 01:57 AM
I googled Debbie Lawrence and got 21 million hits. I deliberately chose Debbie because it was a very commonly used name. Lawrence was my great-grandmother's maiden name. She was a homesteader who homesteaded in Missouri with her husband, a circuit preacher. When her husband ran off with the Organist, she lost the land (women weren't allowed to own land). She homesteaded in Montana, and scared off the railroad men and cowboys who usually burned out the farmers. Then she Opened a Bath-house and laundry in a mining town (Miner's would pay a week's wages - a year's wages to normal people) for the first bath. Because that gave them best choice and first.

eluuzion
11-18-2011, 02:04 AM
My google search produces a "black OPs" game title (which totally unrelated, but rather applicable to my interests in real life, lol)...and little else connected directly to me.

I take many steps to try and keep it that way. I spell my "name (eluuzion)" in the manner that I do for a reason...it is not a recognizable/proper English word, so it is not a target in bot searches, etc. or a predictable choice for random data nets hunting me down. I have also taken action to remove it from all sites like Spokeo, Radaris and the other people search giants, as well as providing lots of "disinformation" whenever I can, to confuse the hunters. I also take care to never use my "signature" on any forum posts, pic titles, etc. on the net. Simply doing that will prevent most of your posts on forums from showing up in a search.

This is one area when my goal is to be as "unpopular" as I can be...:heehee:

Hide-n-Seek in the real world...:D

With a name like that, who'd be surprised!

I bet you're a right rocking raver when you get going, Scarlet!

I've got a concert pianist (I only got to grade 5 myself)

And a florist!!!

All sorts of info about names.

Kathy Smith
11-18-2011, 06:13 PM
Google turns up a Kathy Smith who seems to have a keep-fit fixation. Definitely not me!
However, allmusic found a jazz singer of the same name for me some time ago. I wasn't upset about that and eventually tracked down a copy of her cd. Nice stuff. A local s/h record shop just happens to have a vinyl copy too ... :-)

There appear to be a few Kathy M Smiths around too. If I'd known that I may have picked something like Kathy Potrzebie Smith!

A Google image search of my femme name brought up a picture of a beautiful red haired woman who looks a lot like Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter. Maybe if I wish really hard...

(I'm pretty sure it would be an invasion of her privacy to post the picture, so that's why I haven't)

Josie M
11-18-2011, 07:28 PM
If I google "JosieCD", I have to make sure it doesn't give me "Josie CD" instead - which is mostly "Josie and the Pussycats" on CD.

Loni
11-18-2011, 07:36 PM
yes i just did this a couple days back.
so Loni Evelin Jansson
is in english lore
loni = solitary
Evelin = life.

in Swedish (source of the name)
Jansson = son of Jans.

and strange enough this is my life..but my mom and dads names were not "jan".
and no i did not chose the name Loni Evelin Jansson from the results just like them. then found out the old lore meanings.
.
