Passing of Lois Bates, trans activist

This has been reported other places, but in case you are or were from the Chicago area and haven't heard, Lois Bates passed Thursday.

A service is being held for her following tomorrow's Day of Remembrance ceremonies at the Center on Halsted in Chicago.

Lois was a trans activist, a community activist, a role model for young trans of color, a minister, a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She was in charge of trans health services at the Howard Brown Medical Center here in Chicago.

She will be missed by many.

So sad when someone passes away. Very sad that she helped the trans community and her help will be sadly missed. I only hope someone is there to take her place and carry out Lois Bates work.
