I find it quite funny that with all my fears and nervousness about going out in public and being seen that I have finally been outed by my cell phone. I never thought that it would happen that way but none-the-less here is my story.
My beloved Toyota Solara Convertible has been programmed so that I can talk on my cell, hands free, and I have left my cell phone number as a contact source for Annie with such places as Sally Beauty, my nail salon and some of the clothing stores where I shop enfemme. Occasionally, dressed as Annie, I receive calls for my male self and I never gave it a second thought although when dressed it is my habit to talk with a softer more feminine voice and it catches the caller by surprise and I quickly have to clear my throat and start talking in my male voice.
Well today, I was out driving with my college age daughter and you guessed it, I answered the phone and the caller, Sally Beauty, announced that Annie's curling iron had just arrived and I could pick it up anytime. Of course, I thanked the caller and replied that I would be in this week end.
There was nothing really said, only a knowing smile and a question about what kind I had purchased. Although both of my children, both college age, know about Annie, they have never seen her dressed and we basically have a don't ask, don't tell situation concerning my dressing.
Although I think that what happened is funny, I just wanted to warn any of you who might have hands free in your car to be careful about giving out your feminine name with your number.
