not being professionally qualified, I hesitate to comment on your particular situation. From my meager understanding, something is addictive if and when, you feel compulsively driven to do it, AND the compulsion begins to crowd out other aspects of your life, AND it begins to do you physical, financial or social harm. So, collecting trains or women's clothers, it really doesn' matter - until it starts having an adverse impact on your life. so, is your shopping an addiction, or just afun pastime - you tell us.

I don't know if it is addictive but it is one of lifes pleasures! I can't seem to get enough of it! I'm like a small child left alone in a candy store! Hugs!

Shopping for fem things is addicting.... buying them is not... I go shopping many times just to go try things on... And spend all day and never buy a thing!

As with anything else, it depends on the individual.. Shopping definitely qualifies as a possible addiction that some fall prey to. Maybe not as common as drug/alcohol or gambling, but it's up there amongst them.

My wife says it is not addictive, so who am I to argue. Now if I can get her to begin inviting me along, something my male side avoided like the plague. Now i want it. Working on it. Out to Macys and Payless on Monday. Had to stop at walmart this evening for bra and panties. Never ends, and I havent gotten to the good outer trappings so far, although I am in the black lounging outfit I got at Macys right now, so its all good til wife gets back later.

I don't think it has anything to do with "shopping". Addictive or otherwise!

It's about knowledge and the understanding of female garments, etc., and how they apply to u! U can learn pretty much everything about men's clothing and what works for u and what doesn't in a very short time. NOT SO for women's! The styles r incredibly different going back about 500 hundred years! And, r constantly changing. Add to that a dresser's ability to change their:
Hair style and color
Breast size
Hip size
Waist size

The rub is, the more u UNDERSTAND women's things, the more u realize there's SO MUCH MORE for u to learn and try!

Travelling can be addictive. I bought a pair of skinny jeans at Ross down near fisherman's wharf today for $7.25 all up.
If I buy something at every SITTY I visit I think some addiction will set in.
Kindl93 has the best explanation...
Diagnosis....
I'm having a FUN time.
Especially watching the locals watching me.
For those hesitant to go out and buy I don't think you have anything to fear if you are pleasant and honest.
I was complimented on my pointy toed shoes and skinny jeans by a couple of SAs.
They also liked the floppy handbag that I had bought to put the cameras in and remarked that I looked real sharp.
Here I am worrying about looking like a guy in drag.

Yes it is addictive and I am hooked, especially to shoe shopping. Going to DSW is such a rush.

I raised two daughters alone, from age 5 & 7. I gave my daughter a credit card once for her to get school clothes, and she maxed out my card!! When I started going out en femme, I now know why! It is great fun, and I felt like a teenager with someone else's credit card! Good thing my GF fiancee had a talk with me, as I was spending too much money. Now I tend to look more and buy less.

Absolutely not! Numerous studies have been done by 'people like me' and we have all concluded that the followig scenarios are very addictive and can lead some to being mislead into think shopping is addictive:
1. Driving to the mall for no reason each day.
2. Asking a friend to meet you at Macy's at 5pm when you know you have no friends.
3. Telling your kids you cannot play war games because the family dog is lost and you think it's near a Payless. Best to take the dog with you to avoid questions later.
4. You have to go to Kohl's right now because they made a mistake on an invoice you just found dated June 22, 1963.

An addiction becomes a problem when it affects other areas of you life? In this case I guess it depends on how much you spend shopping and if so how much you Have to spend. Don't want to miss the house payment because you bought those new dresses and heels. Do you miss work because of time spent shopping, or miss family time or other obligations? I am addicted to shopping, but I have it under control. Part of that is beacause I am poor right now...

Anything can be addictive. We use the word "addiction" in both a serious and frivolous way and I don't know which you mean in this case.

I say that I'm "addicted" to shopping because finding that perfect item of apparel gives me distinct pleasure. However, I'm not truly addicted in the clinical sense because I have the ability to refuse that perfect item is it could be harmful to my budget.

Would you care to elaborate on your concern?

I'd say yes considering I've spent hundreds of dollars over the last month or so. I just seem to keep thinking about and seeing things I want.

Yes shopping is addictive and trying to quit can be harmful to your life. I had a "friend" who was addicted to shopping for groceries. By the time she was able to break her addiction, she starved to death!

Sorry - the devil made me type that.

Lol..I like this answer.:) Yes, it can be addictive when you realize that your female wardrobe is inadequate. I only have undergarments and 2 minidresses, and there are such cute outfits waiting out there for me. Besides don't all women enjoy shopping?

Yes, shopping is very addictive. I could spend hours thumbing through the racks at the Winnipeg Jets Store, deciding which tool belt is more practical at Home Depot, finding the right sized oil filter at the Canadian Tire, or buying a package of every type of gotch (men's underwear) at Moore's just cause they all were so CUTE!!!!

I have one word: YEAH.

I have bookmarks for Macy's, JC Penney, Kohls, Victoria's Secret, and probably 5 different shoe stores others at the ready in my web browser. I fill the "shopping bag" to capacity.

Bit short of the money to buy it all, though.

When I discovered places like DSW and Zappos, and saw that they had literally THOUSANDS of different shoes, I first wondered how in the heck our civilization could justify going to so much trouble to make so many different kinds of shoes.

A few days later, I browsed and selected several dozen favorites out of them all. =)

I don't shop much in public because I get too excited during the process to contain myself. I must be alone, with a bottle of wine, and my favorite music playing because to me shopping is just that important.

I would say yes, especially with all the pretty fem style clothes available out there, its easy for me at least to walk out of a thrift store with a few more dresses, skirts, cami's, nighties, etc than i 1st thought. I'm greatful its inexpensive there. =)

Yes I think so, I really enjoy the whole experience although it can be daunting sometimes looking in womens shops/departments in drab. Im really addicted to thrift store shopping, I love it its easy on the pocket and its so random you just never know what you will find, I also love the fact the clothes have been worn before gives me that extra thrill. Ive found some amazing pieces that fit perfect.

I am shocked that any of you would think something so absurd. I just got here a few days ago, I didn't know I could go home. They keep bringing more stuff. I brought a sandwich and a large soda in case I got hungry, but that is gone now. I need to use the rest room, but I can't put this stuff down there are other people here too. Why don't they go home, I think there is some thing wrong with them. Okay now they are following me. They are motioning out the door. I am going to hide behind this rack until they go away. Oh look at these shoes. Let go of my arm hey I just got here. It was my turn, no I am not crying. Where's my purse?

Oh god yes...!

My fave place is ebay...

Underdressing is how I enjoy myself so LOTS of underwear...

20 or more suspender girdles...

half a dozen corselettes...

dozens of suspender belts...

quite a few long line bras...

hundred or more pairs of stockings...

I must be mad...

I finally came to my senses last year and stopped buying slips. I finally realized having over four hundred slips and not ever being able to wear them all was over the top. But, I truly loved getting those lacy slips in the mail. It was like Christmas morning. In my case I do not think it was compulsive behavior. It was more related to the onset of some serious PTSD combat related issues. Buying those slips really relieved stress. Now I think I'm down to segregating about thirty favorite slips. I have to figure out how to dispose of the excess without depressing prices on eBay for larger sized slips.
